RESTAURANTISCLOSED. It is being remodeled to become a Ramen joint. I went there last week, and it had a sign that said they would reopen on January 15th, then tried again tonight, only to be met with a new sign… Definitely disappointing.

It’s decent Chinese food. There is only jasmine and black tea for your choices of tea. The lunch specials are inexpensive and there is a lot of food. Went with friends and ordered several dishes. The sichuan shrimp is very spicy and good, so is the garlic eggplant. The crispy noodles with shrimp and gravy was just okay, the fried rice wasn’t as good. All in all, I thought it was acceptable, just nothing to write home about. I thought Home Cooking by the 99 Ranch on Chino Ave was better, but then again, that is more authentic.

This is hands down the best Chinese restaurant in the Inland Empire, let alone Chino Hills. Bang for your buck prices and huge portions. Dishes come out very quickly so you don’t have to wait too long to engulf some good food. We had the rice cake and braised pork with bamboo. Those two dishes stood out the most for me. Hands down the best rice cakes I’ve ever had. We had five total dishes and the total came out to around $ 25!!! My family and I are regulars at new capital seafood resturant. Today, that is going to end. We will be regulars at this spot because it is that good and very affordable.

The wife was looking for some wonton soup and for some odd reason she couldn’t find a restaurant that had it on their menu except for here. We came early evening and we were the only ones here. No one else came until we left so if you hate crowds come here. We ordered the wonton soup, chicken mui shu and chicken fried rice. The soup was good, the broth was tasty. The soup had wontons, shrimp and tons of vegetables. They could’ve used less vegetables as there was too many items in the soup. The fried rice was bland. The chicken mui shu was good too which is a Chinese version of a burrito. Overall a good place to get Chinese food.

Awesome. Great sit down family style OG Chinese food. Sizzling rice soup is amazing, orange peel beef is out of this world, fish in black bean sauce is a near perfect dish. General Tso’s chicken… Yep, it’s good! Service is good, people are nice food is incredible! Feel free to waste your money on PF Changs but if you want it authentic and you’re in it for the food… This is the spot!

I’m surprised that a shanghai restaurant like this is located in Chino Hills, hope it lasts! we made it around 8 before they closed at 9pm on a weekday —pan fried leek dumplings: NOT what i expected, this dish comes with 2HUGE dumplings that were the size of empanadas! i liked the crispy skin, just wasn’t used to the dumpling size —moo shoo veggies(if you like meat you can get the pork/chicken version): comes with 4 crepes, tasty but i don’t like how they wrap the veggies inside the crepes before it’s served, i’d much rather build it at the table so the crepes don’t get soggy NOTE: you get fortune cookies at the end of the meal

The search for a replacement xiao long bao and shanghai style rice cake restaurant, particularly if open late at night, continues in the wake of the closing of the venerable local staple, Supreme Dragon, and we have now widened our net to Chino. Service was friendly and pretty good for an authentic Chinese restaurant, something I have noticed is more common in the one-off, not-in-the-Chinese-ghetto, real Chinese restaurants. Maybe it’s a survival tactic, a result of getting separated from the herd. Most of the food was only okay. The shanghai style rice cake looked good but while the rice cakes were not overcooked(a pet peeve of mine) the flavor profile was off, with strong tastes of celery and black pepper. The beef roll(«beef roll cake») had too much hoisin sauce and was deadly sweet, and the wrapper was dry and not the same onion pancake as expected. They first brought us onion pancakes instead of beef roll by accident and then charged us for them. But it turned out to be a better dish than the one we actually ordered. While okay, they were not as good as at Ponpon Café(whose return we await with bated breath). Finally, the xiao long bao were not great: first of all, the meat was bland and the soup slightly sweet. Then on top of that they have that Din Tai Fung-y problem that I hate, where even though the wrappers are thin, for some reason the dough still manages to be undercooked, sticky and flour-y. Add to that the fact that thin skinned XLB are prone to exploding, losing the precious juices one eats XLB *for*. What’s the point? So why the four-star rating? Because this place is one of the few places on the west coast where you can get the thick-skinned potstickers of my childhood(that hasn’t closed down within the last 10 years, RIP Kam’s in Victorville), and the flavor of the juicy meat inside is also pretty close. I’m sure Californians will take one look and be all, «WTF is this?» but to me it was a pleasant and very welcome surprise. We even ordered a second order to go after our meal they were that good. All in all, I think Min’s in the same plaza is a more solid choice(though still not good enough to fill Supreme’s shoes), but I will definitely come back for the potstickers(speaking of which, my dumplings are ready, so I’ll sign off now).

The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because when I walked in I didn’t really get«great» service and the chicken had a lot of fat. The price was amazing and the portions were very large. The food is actually very delicious and has amazing flavor. I thought this was going to be a hole in the wall fast food Chinese(because of the amazing low prices) place however it was anything but! Everything was so fresh and the Shanghai style option is not something I’ve seen a lot of in this area. I would highly recommend if you want to break from the ordinary cookie cutter Chinese food places.

Solid Chinese restaurant. They have two menus, one that’s more Chinese-American and a smaller menu that’s more authentically Chinese. This is a good idea considering how strong and different some flavors are for the average American. This place is perfect for family outings and big groups. My family ordered the mongolian beef, black bean fish, and schezwan shrimp, while egg rolls and soup came with whatever we ordered. Everything was delicious and was easy to share. The lunch menu is very reasonable in terms of price, especially for college students, and I plan on bringing multiple friends back to this establishment.

Slave girl and I were doing the monthly grandma lunch meet up. Grandma was in the mood for Chinese food… Well, she’s always in the mood for Chinese food it seems… So we came to Shanghai Old Restaurant. We have been here before and the food was pretty decent. Why the hell not? Since grandma got bad teeth, we had to order something soft and easy to chew for her. We got the veggie and fish soup, little soupy dumplings(well, since that’s what Shanghai is famous for…), Shanghai veggie rice, Shanghai short rib, and deep fried seaweed fish. All were very good except the seaweed fish. The batter was different and it wasn’t crispy at all. It feels like they used old oil to fry it. We also had the eels before and even though I don’t see many places have this dish, I still wouldn’t recommend it. It just didn’t taste good. What you should try for sure: Shanghai style egg rolls and Shanghai veggie rice. Overall I would say their dishes are pretty authentic and traditional. If you check closely, the kitchen is ran by bunch of old timers, no wonder why it’s awesome.

I really like Shanghainese food so I was glad to come with my boyfriend and his parents. I don’t think I really need to order anything because anything they choose, I am sure I’ll like. I especially love their pork belly, baby bok choy and bamboo soup. I don’t know the actual name and they told me in Shanghainese which I still don’t recall but damn, it is awesome. The soup here was flavorful and I loved the bamboo(but I always love bamboo and I swear I’m not half panda!). This is really Chinese comfort food. I also liked their seaweed fried fish, as it wasn’t that salty and was quite light. The Shanghai Rice cakes weren’t that salty or greasy and were pretty good. Sacha/Satay beef was actually greasy, but usually hot plates and sacha are like that. They also did a good job sauteing A Choi, as I don’t normally like this veggie, but they made it tasty. They were super nice to us, so no complaints there. Cute mom and pop place with a bit of a shabby interior.

My Husband, Mark Evans and I found this restaurant through a Deal in Local Flavor Magazine and we brought our friends with us to check it out for the first time. We were sad to hear that Yangtzee in Ontario closed its doors after 50+ years serving the community. The food we were served tonight was Fantastic and Service was Spot On. I’m really Glad we decided to check this place out. We had the family package deal which was $ 14.95 per person. The four of us all had the pick a main dish and before hand we we delighted by the delicious appetizers which arrived first to our table. The food portions were huge and served piping hot. We will all be back and will be telling Anyone who asks about where they can get Dine In Chinese Food to try this place.

Unilocaled this place because I was craving Shanghai pork spare ribs and I wanted to introduce them to my Korean boyfriend. Wasn’t disappointed at all. Here’s what we ordered: Shanghai rice cakes(nian gao) — lunch special so came out to $ 6. Wasn’t bad. I’ve had better. Didn’t have a lot of meat. pork spare ribs — was very flavorful. Big chunks of pork spare ribs. A little on the saucy side, but not bad considering it’s so conveniently located. xiao long bao — Really not bad. Probably one of the best ones I’ve had in this inland empire part of southern California. Not as good as Ding Tai Fung’s, but really not bad for this area. I’d get it again. spinach — This was boring. If I could read Chinese, I would’ve figured this wasn’t Chinese spinach, which was what I was hoping for. hot and sour soup — standard, typical hot and sour soup. Again, they skimp out on the black fungus and meat, but it wasn’t bad. Overall, I’ve definitely had infinitely better Shanghai food elsewhere, but this was very good considering the location. Prices were reasonable, tables and chairs were clean, service was good. The plaza it’s located in is pretty empty. Not sure if it was because it was a blazing hot Thursday late afternoon. I’d come back!

This is my new favorite«go to» place for Chinese food in this area. Fried rice, potstickers and fried rice cakes are the best. The food comes out hot and fresh. Service is very friendly. Place gets crowded on the weekends so plan accordingly.

3 stars almost rounded up to 4. Newly opened in Chino, Shanghai Old Restaurant was a pleasant surprise. The owners relocated to Chino after running a restaurant in Yorba Linda for 10 years. We had a few dishes which not only rivaled but surpassed Din Tai Fung in flavor, pork XLB soup dumplings almost comparable to DTF and Shanghai rice cakes better than DTF. We would definitely order both of these again. HUGE lunch special portions, one portion is enough for 2 – 3 people served with a small rice, egg flower or hot and sour soup and a delicious egg roll. At $ 5.95 per lunch from 11 am to 3 pm daily it’s a great deal. We ordered way too much food not realizing how large ALL the main dish portions are. There are well over 30 lunch specials to choose from. IMO lunch special is the way to go here to get the most bang for your buck. We ordered all dishes with less oil and no MSG. $ 6 Pork XLB Steamed dumplings 4.5 stars almost comparable to the ones at DTF and so much cheaper. They serve the ginger in the black vinegar, next time I will ask for it on the side as a personal preference. Would order again. $ 5.95 Shanghai Rice Cake 5 stars BETTER than DTF rendition of this dish and at least 3 times the portion size, perfect for sharing. We all loved this dish it had great flavors and was not greasy or overly salty. This was a family favorite and we would come back just for this one dish. They make it with pork. $ 5.95 Mixed Veggies-they were mixed veggies 3 stars $ 5.95 Mongolian Beef with onion-beef was tender, it was OK would try something different next time 3 stars $ 5.95 Eggplant with Garlic and veggies 3.5 stars Decent flavors 4 stars for service, was efficient and friendly Ambiance 3 – 4 stars, nice large round tables with red table cloths and booths We didn’t bother to ask what they are famous for, next time will inquire to find out what other dishes are worth a try. All this food came out to $ 32.00 pre tip! Leftovers did not look so great and were tossed next day.

This is one of the newest Shanghai Restaurant. Only few handful in San Bernardino County. It located in the new plaza with mostly Chinese business. Parking lot is decent size. I dine here at lunch in weekday. There were 2 waitress, the place is half full. but the service was a bit slow and didn’t got our order the first time. Their offer a lot of dishes, many of them however isn’t shanghai specialist. Only handful of them are. The whiteboard one is their specialty. However is written in Chinese Only. I were original was just gonna order their lunch special which look like a good value. but a friend of mine insist try their Shredded Eels. Which was expensive. I believe that was the most pricey dish in the restaurant. It cost $ 17and wasn’t that big portion either. The eels wasn’t fresh and tasted a bit rubber alike. This is not something I would order again here. However the other two item I order were exceptional good! Their XLB or know as juicy pork dumpling were probably second best one I had behind Ding Tai Fung. The other item were the fried mantou bun, which was perfectly fried and tender bun inside. The sauce that come with the bun doesn’t match. I don’t mind come back here but would stick with dish that I am familiar. Their service need to improve. Overall it is good to see that you no longer has to be in 626 or SGV to find Authentic Chinese food.
