Owen’s Bistro

My girlfriend and I decided to stay local to celebrate our anniversary. Owen’s Bistro really tries hard to be an upscale fine dining restaurant but the quality and taste of the food does not match the price. I don’t mind paying a premium for good food but this restaurant misses the mark for service and food.
My bill came out to $ 90 for 1 appetizer and 2 entrees. My girlfriend got their salmon plate. It was uninspired where they cooked a Salmon on a hot rock surrounded by spring mix you would find at a grocery store. She felt the salmon was over seasoned.
I got the Lobster Risotto. It was extremely bland and lukewarm. I would save your money and avoid this place at all costs. Don’t believe the high rating for this place. Nothing worse than that feeling of regret after a crappy meal.

We decided to stay close for our 10 year anniversary and we had a great experience. The staff read my reservation notes from Unilocal and our table was decorated with heart confetti. The servers were also very attentive and the live music provided a romantic atmosphere.
The food itself was delicious. We shared the crispy Brussel sprouts as an appetizer. We had the pork belly and venison for our main course. We shared the snores pie as desert. Everything was delicious and the meats were cooked just right.
Owens definitely exceeded my expectations.

Deserves a Michelin Star because it is experience that sets the masters apart from great restaurants. Spectacular vibe and exquisite flavor.

We’ve been going to Owen’s for years and have yet to be disappointed! Denise is warm and welcoming, and Chef James consistently produces a wow factor with his food. Danny is an amazing server and takes care of every need. Owen’s is by far my favorite restaurant in this area.

This place is Foodie haven. The Lobster Risotto was an absolute culinary experience. The Pork Belly was beyond words. I have recommended this location to many a friends.

Food-​so so KOBE IS ON THEIR MENU BUT LET ME TELL YOU ALL, THAT IS NOT REAL KOBE BEEF.
They have tried to make this upscale and it is a cute setting, and decent if you’ve never explored better restaurants.
But I know the difference. AND THIS IS NOTHING GREAT.
Will never return & will keep all my friends away.

Don’t let the romantic outdoor seating, drop lights, and live music fool you. I’m not an expert in restaurant owning, but I definitely know it’s not supposed to take 15 min to be seated when you have a reservation and there are plenty of seats available, I DEFINITELY know it’s supposed to take OVER AN HOUR for your food to be served, and I shouldn’t have to gulp a cup of water after each bite because the food was absolutely salty. The lady owner came out NOT to apologize, but to explain that because we didn’t finish our appetizer and that it why our food came out so late. I’m sorry, but I didn’t know I had to finish my appetizer in order for my food to be ticketed in.
This place is so pretty and such a waste with such slow and terrible service. I don’t even want to go into detail for each item I ordered because I will never come here again. I’m soooooo disappointed.

We have had the privilege of coming to Owen’s again. Our first time was last year for our eldest daughter’s 22^nd birthday. I had called ahead and made reservation. The table was decorated lovely and the ambiance was perfect. There was a guitarist who played all evening. Our food was delightful and my husband and I were able to have the 40^th anniversary Camus. Which our daughter also enjoyed having.
Our encore evening was just as wonderful as the first. We enjoyed it with 41^st year of Camus and our eldest daughter was there to celebrate a new job offer for her dad. This place reminds me of the movie «No Reservations». We just love it and will be looking forward to our next celebration. Danny was our waiter again and we could not have been in better hands.
Next time we’ll have our youngest with us so she can enjoy this lovely little hidden place in our city of Chino.

I had an much more detailed review prepared only to find out I exceeded the maximum allowed characters.
So I will have to edit it down to: pretentious, overpriced, slowwwww Service with an attitude. This is primarily true for a Staff member with vested interest in Owen’s success. And yes we have given Owen’s the benefit of the doubt. We have been there on multiple occasions. Yet to many fails for us to drop $ 140 again for two meals, a bowl of soup, 5 ridiculously non descript shrimp and two extremely overpriced glassed of wine.
The Owners stuck their neck out to get this place up and running about 12 years back in an old brick building certainly in need of major code upgrades. I really pull for the small guy to succeed, and I try to bring them my patronage. But you can’t take your Customers for granted nor insult their sensibilities. Never again.

Finally we tried this place out seen the picture so appealing. If you look for good service you will not get it here„ food 5. They need to work on their service how to be friendly and welcoming the customers. On the serving food it take a little too long, also if you like something on Unilocal review or you see any picture please call them and ask ahead of time, most likely they don’t serve the same item you want. The
place very small you can hear every’s conversation, i don’t like but if you don’t mind.
The server look like she lost and not professional trained, I had eating in a very high class restaurant never seen any waitress this unprofessional. In the end we ask to paid she just gave us the portable credit card machine didn’t even show us what to do or she will charged or what happened, no explanation just gave us and left. Honestly me and my family will not come back here. Whoever like to eat steak good with the price they charge please don’t come here go somewhere they want your business and paid attention to the customer.

We tried this place out after looking through the glowing reviews. If you look for good service you will not get it here„ food was only 2 stars and service was negative .
They need to work on their service and how to be friendly and welcoming to the customers. On the serving, food it take a little too long (25 – 35 minutes)
The place is tiny and claustrophobic and you can hear everyone’s conversation.

Food was not just overpriced but double the cost at half the portion size. Fish was bland but seared very well. Lamb was okay but we asked for medium well and we’re served rare.
They also served this dish which I thought was supposed to be different kinds of juicy meats for $ 8 but was just toast drizzled on different kinds of left over meat fats. Very odd

Was looking for a place close to home for dinner. I had Owens bookmarked for a while and figured it would be a solid choice based on all the glowing stars.
I am giving this place 2 stars because the owner and our server were nice. The wait was just really long for food so don’t come here hungry.

I’m disappointed that I couldn’t like this place more especially since it’s close to home.
Unfortunately friendly service was as good as it got this evening. I don’t know? Maybe I came on an off night? Once we were seated we waited about 20 minutes before our waiter came to take our order. But he did apologize for the wait. After that we waited another 35 minutes to get our food so from the time we sat down to the time we actually had food in our mouths it was almost a good hour. We were starving and I was bummed especially bc my steak which I ordered medium was cooked well done. They did offer to fix it, but at this point I really didn’t want to wait much longer to eat. They also forgot our lobster tails and those had to be brought out later. Bread is also not complimentary so expect to pay $ 6 for that. I assumed that since my steak was cooked wrong they would at least comp my plate but nope they only took off $ 18 and so my teeny tiny lobster tail which came out halfway through our meal cost $ 21. Um… ok.
This just wasn’t a good experience for us so I don’t know think we will come back.

Amazing date place with great ambiance. We had a live guitarist when I went which was also awesome. We got the lamb chops and the pork loin which was some of the best food I’ve ever had. Dessert we got this blood orange flan. Highly recommend

Hidden Gem!
This is the best place in the Chino and surrounding area for a great steak dinner. Perfect for a dinner date. Quite and intimate. Put this one on your list of must try stake houses. Reservations can be tricky. You need to leave a credit card number and they charge $ 20 per person if they don’t show up. (Large Parties) I can understand why. There is not a whole lot of seating here and the food is terrific. You will most likely not like that parking situation. As you may need to walk further than usual. Great appetizers and good size entrees.
After this dinner I wanted a nap!

Owens is a must go to for any ocasion. The owners are more than willing to occomidate you and your party and prepare a meal for any special ocasion the campfire is a must have but they will accommodate most meal accommodations

Food – five stars! cheesy bread, the best salmon I’ve ever had, and a melt in your mouth bread pudding (a must!!!). However, the service was four star worthy. Not bad, but not perfect. There was a snafu in waiting for our dessert and bill. Everything went splendidly up until that point. I can’t tell you how amazing their bread pudding was; heaven just thinking about it. So it was worth the 20 minute or so wait (they may very well have made it from scratch!).
The only other note was that they had a live musician who sang and played the guitar; a subpar performer who had the amp cranked up way too loud. It’s an intimate enchanting environment, but the music made it feel like a stale coffee shop. We could hardly hear each other and we were sitting in the back.
Overall, this place is a must for any foodie.

I have been to Owens twice and loved it both times. My husband and I have celebrated two special events here one was an anniversary. The ambiance is beautiful, just the right mood for a romantic date.
The first time I had the lamb. The presentation was fantastic and the taste was divine. I gave my husband a taste, but was quite stingy with the rest. (considered telling him it was terrible to keep it to myself) I can’t remember what my husband had but he was equally satisfied.
The second time I couldn’t help myself and got the lamb again. It was different but just as good. We also tried the frig legs, tasted like chicken.
Oh yeah I recommend the brussle sprouts. We missed out the second time and regretted not getting it, but had too much food and wanted to leave room for dessert.
Dessert was yummy too. There are several kinds to choose from, I doubt you would be unsatusfied with your choice, but I always choose something with chocolate. Yum, I’m ready to go back!

Perfect place for our anniversary dinner!
The food was amazing! We ordered the fried Brussels Sprouts, pork belly, camp fire salmon, chocolate mug cake, and the strawberry tart.
They also recommended great beer and wine pairing with the food.
I can’t stop raving about this hidden gem in Chino.

Owen’s Bistro is really a surprise.
The biggest thing that got me was the location. it’s in Chino, where all the cows and flies reside.
The inside sitting is small but the outside (with roof but more considered outdoor sitting) is pretty big. Live music playing at night. So we sat inside to avoid that.
Food was great!
Salmon was extremely fresh and flavorful.
King Dungeon Crab was fresh and cooked very well, paired with delicious veggies.
The beets salad was unexpectedly prepared but very well prepared. Beets were lightly fried so it’s got that fried bite but none of the greasy-​ness.
I would definitely come back again.
Service was also very tentative.
