Burger Hut

The fries are the best part for me. It’s also conveniently located (super close to work), but not as fast as I’d like. I usually have a really simple order and come in on my lunch break, and I’m waiting around 15+ mins. Other than that though, no real complaints.

I’ve been eating at Burger Hut since Nord Ave and they’ve always been good to me… I like putting my own toppings on and the salad bar has the right ingredients for me. I have definitely never left hungry… they have a 1 pound burger there with 4 patties… lol…don’t forget the bacon, mushrooms and grilled onions!!!

I haven’t been to burger hut in awhile, but I remember their patties being a lot bigger. I ordered a double cheeseburger like always, but what I got was a four bite morsel.
Here’s the funny part. I showed the guy grilling the burgers my double cheese burger. I told him that I remember the patties to be a lot bigger. He told me they’ve always been that big. He told people have been saying that al lot. The girl at the counter told me the same thing. I guess we’re all just a bunch of delusional idiots. Lol. Minus two stars for dry patties and minus one star making me buy another four bite morsel to feed my 190 pound body. I’d take another star away for lying to me, but that’s just plain sad.

Burger hut used to be my favorite burger place in town. With the added nostalgia of trips there with my dad as a kid.
My last three takeout food trips there however have been a sad letdown. I’ve consistently gotten burgers cooked to hockey pucks with hard, unmelted slices of cheese and french fries that are cold and chewy from the get-​go. As well as messy/​warm topping stations.
I think it’s safe to say I won’t be going here for my burger fix anymore when there are better places in chico for the same price.

Do I really have to say much? i miss the old one that used to be on Nord. I live right next to the old place, so now I am right dab in the middle of both. But still completely satisfied with this one. Haven’t gone to the other one. It really doesn’t get better than this though in terms of burgers. You order a burger and then you top it with sauces and toppings. Its like a fun make your own burger BBQ style. The rootbeer they have on tap is delicious too. Try it.
Plus Burger Hut is a nice part of history. My best friend’s mom used to go to the one on Nord all the time when she was in high school.

The best burgers in town!!! And onoin rings :) yummy!!! My whole family loves the meal no matter what we order, everything always fresh, cooked to perfection :)

Wanted it to be better, and in some ways it was, but other ways it was worse. Customer service was much friendlier, but the line was out the door and only one girl was taking orders while others were in the back doing???
The food was excellent tasting, as usual, with the usual mixed up cheese. Idk how such a simple oder can get messed up EVERY time, but I’ve just come to accept it. Cheddar is totally the same as provolone anyways, right?
Worst offense, and the reason for the update: the smoke. Good lord, the smoke. The ventilation needs to be fixed ASAP. It was so bad that literally the entire seated customer base inside got up and reseated themselves outside due to the actual difficulty breathing. As a pregnant patron, this is absolutely unacceptable, for me. I’m fairly certain the mom of 4 littles who all ran outside choking would agree.
Only reason this isn’t a 1 (or 0) star review is that the burgers, no matter how messed up, continue to still be delicious and the staff seems to be working on positive vibes. Now, if I could be sure I didn’t just get major lung cancer, maybe we could have had a whole 3 stars…

I have been here probably 6 times, and I keep trying to give them another chance. Sorry, still not working. The latest visit gave me two extremely thin, WAY over cooked burger patties, that were actually crusty on the outside edge. No flavor at all. Sorry Burger Hut, you failed again. Fries are good, Condiment table has fresh lettuce/​tomatos/​etc, everything else is very nice. They just need to get someone in there that can not murder a burger, and the size of the hamburger meat needs to increase. If not, I will not return to this place. Bang for the buck is not there, in other words pricing needs to be lowered for what you get.

Who doesn’t love burger hut. Affordable burgers and nice atmosphere. They have seating out side and that is always nice.

i have loved Burger Hut burgers for decades, literally. I loved them when my folks took me there as a kid and i loved them up through the time when i was taking my own kids.
But never again will Burger Hut receive a so much as a dime from me or my family and it has nothing to do with their food. It is more a *lack* of food and service bordering on grotesque.
The scene: me, desperately needing food after hours spent at prompt care for a UTI (TMI, i know). My husband was driving, I had prescriptions that needed filling in my hand. We knew it was getting late, the line at Walgreen’s drive through was insane, so we decided to go to Burger Hut first.
We reached Burger Hut while it was still open, had 15 minutes to order food before closing time. This was fine for us, we just wanted a to go order. We asked the cashier if we could place our order, go drop off my prescriptions and come back to get our food. The cashier said ‘yes’, we asked to double check with the manager who said ‘of course’. We paid for our order and went back to Walgreens. Now, if there had been any reason why filling our order would have been a problem, one of us would have stayed at Burger Hut and problem would be solved. They assured us that we did not have to stay.
We dropped off the ‘script with no problems, then headed back to the Hut. We went to open the door and were shocked to find it locked and our ticket taped to the door. The ticket stated that they could not fill our order and that they would refund us the next day. WTF??? I have never experienced such hideous service. Burger Hut manager in all its wisdom had held onto the $ 30ish bucks we paid them (meals for 2 kids as well as me and the hubster) and would not give us even our money back even though we could see the place was still at full staff and cleaning up. They would not even answer their door. Un flipping believable.
My husband stopped in the next day to speak to the new owners and showed her the note we found on the door the previous night. She did apologize, refunded our card and gave us a gift certificate in an equal amount. The money was less an issue then the appalling service and no gift certificate can fix that. Obviously, i no longer want a burger here, even on the house.

I always get a perfectly cooked turkey burger every time. They have great onion rings and shakes too. Great staff, and clean.

Great burgers and veggie burgers too! Love the burger bar set up to make it like you like it! Kids LOVE their milkshakes :)

This is one of my favorite burger joints in Chico. I go to it more then say Nobby’s mainly because it’s close to my house but I think it’s pretty good.
The burgers are decent size and the condiment/​vegetable bar is good. It’s a decent burger, a little on the pricey side but it’s freshly made to order. Their fries can be a little salty but their onion rings are great.
I recommend this place for sure.

Burger hut, well, it’s a burger joint with the food being a hit or miss situation. Prices are fairly high in my opinion, 22 bucks for 2 combos but it’s a local place so whatever. My boyfriend can eat Burger Hut all of the time, but I on the other hand, am I little harder to please.
I usually get the grilled or breaded chicken burger with onion rings and 4 out of 5 times it’ll be amazing but it depends on the cook! The cook is why I’m only giving them 4 stars. The male employees seem to be on their game, busting out some amazing food, but most of the female staff seem to be more concerned with talking and standing around… and being a woman I don’t like thinking this way.
The tables don’t get wiped down as soon as the customer leaves even when it’s not busy and they do have the time to wipe the table down before the next customer wants to sit there.
So maybe it’s not the food I have an issue with but more so some of the staff, it’s not everyone granted but some. Try the food because it is good but the staff, eh, not so much.

Absolute Delish and they use quality ingredients! All their meat is 100% grass fed and they get their produce from S&S! Aaaaand they have gluten free buns for those of us who are sensitive to gluten :)
My fave is a veggie burger with grilled onions, mushrooms, and provolone on a gluten free bun.
All the staff is great and they can accommodate most requests to make you just what you want.

This is the third time I have been to this location. The first time was good. The second time was okay. But this time. I’m very disappointed.
First off, the employee at the front counter was helpless. They might have been new or just not knowledgable. They were not very responsive and lacked character.
Adding additional sides on your burger is expensive which I was not warned about while ordering. I ended up paying $ 17 for a small dry patty with some special cheese and grilled mushrooms. A decent size pile of fries, but let’s be honest here, fries are grease soaked starch and I’d rather have a larger patty than a heaping pile of greasy fries for a $ 17 meal.
Price for quality just isn’t there and I won’t be returning.

Burgers, Hotdogs, Milkshakes, What more do you need?
Everything here is fantastic! I might be taking years off of my life with every bite of the Bulldog but it is worth it!

Fantastic burgers but VERY expensive. Floor is constantly sticky in lobby, bathroom is filthy, employees don’t wear gloves or wash hands much, outdoor lighting rarely on even though napkin dispensers, salt & pepper are in place and evening temperatures are in the upper 60’s to low 70’s. The bacon option is costly and kind of small but quite tasty.
The food comes quick but the process of ordering and paying is lengthy. Based on the food quality alone I’d give it 4 stars but that’s not the only factor in dining out. Even with a BOGO, dinner for 2 adults and a 3.5 year old was over $ 25. The restaurant seems to be run by high school and college kids.
The worst part is that they serve locally brewed Sierra Nevada Beer but not their porter which any foodie knows is the best beer to go with red meat!!! How do you serve burgers and not have a porter beer on tap or at least in bottles. My suggestion, fill a Klean Kanteen with a few porters and enjoy it with the ½ lb bacon burger.

Watch out Chico! They are seriously stepping their game up big time!!! Blue cheese, bacon and fried onion strings on a ¹⁄₃ lb burger coming out next week and I GOT TO TRY IT! Seriously AMAZING, not to mention quality and personalized service (Thanks Rick!).
As an outreach and marketing coordinator for Home & Health Care Management, which is right down the street, I pay close attention to the quality of service and product a company provides. I don’t hand out complements to a business unless I seriously mean it. Make it a point to go in there and change your life.
