Zee’s Food and Spirits

Great live band 12−12−15. The band had an actual horn section. That was a huge plus and a refreshing treat. After reading other reviews I regret skipping on the food. TV Should be off when the band plays.

This review is long over due! We had our son’s First Holy Communion party here in April. I wasn’t totally sure it was the right thing to do at first because I hadn’t been in here in years. Zee told me she would take care of us and she sure did! It was amazing. The food was delicious and the service was great. Zee was so accommodating and took such good care of us! She basically let us take over the place! The kids loved being able to hang out outside and just run in and out. The bartenders were good too. I think Jennifer is one of them. She had pink hair and was AWESOME. She was quick and capable and friendly! I cannot recommend it enough if you’re having a party. Here’s a quote from a friend of mine, «Hands down, the very best First Holy Communion party I’ve ever been to!» And this was a very conservative Catholic crowd talking about a party in what is essentially a bar! Not to mention that it was a tremendous value that you will not get anywhere else. Believe me, I’ve tried. We’ve also been back as a family for dinner and it was just as good. It’s just a nice, neighborhood place to go for good food and a game or two of pool!

Came in here for a business meeting on a Monday night at 7 that should have meant I was out the door by 7:30. I left close to 2am because the place was just a blast to hang around in. Tried a Merck Burger before I left and I thought my mouth was in Burger Heaven. Brought my kids in for Taco’s on Tuesday and my kids, who are normally the most picky eaters around, fell in love with the tacos, with the funnel cakes, but most of all… with Zee herself.
The food is amazing here, the drink specials are on point, and J-​Bru (Jennifer Bruno) behind the bar with her striking pink hair… makes it a great place to hang out with some friends, or just become part of the Zee’s family which is how they treat you.
I’ve been coming back several times already and would continue to in the future!

Have to admit the first reaction was «What did we get ourselves into?» Arriving about 8 p.m., the place was transitioning to bar mode. When the waitress brought our drinks in plastic cups my boyfriend and I were a bit suspicious. So glad we stayed. The bartender/​waitress could not have been sweeter and the food was great. We had a $ 5.00 special pot roast sandwich and a bruschetta chicken sandwich. Both came with crispy fries that were cooked perfectly. Pot roast tasted homemade and the bruschetta was very fresh. We left full and happy. We will definitely come back, but maybe more for take-​out if later. It has more of a bar feel than a restaurant.

1 star is because it is a good neighborhood location for me. But THAT IS ALL. I am sitting here for 20 minutes and no service. I told my husband we can meet here for dinner. I just told him not to walk but drive and we are going somewhere else to spend $ 75. This is the second time we tried and get the same NO, ABSOLUTELY NO SERVICE. They are tending to one guy at the bar. And one table of 3 eating.
Update…at Old School in Forest Park and menus, water and a drink in 3 minutes and appetizer ordered. That is Zee’s lesson on Service 101.
Update 2… spent $ 90 on great appetizer, burger and Lamb french dip, and dessert we normally don’t order. Great service deserves the $ 25 tip.

This place used to be much better under the last group of owners. I had the schrimp scampi and it was subpar. The only reason I am giving this place two stars versus just one star is because the bartender and the people at the bar were nice.

great corner spot food is awesome but doesn’t get a lot of customers to sit at tables and eat which is a shame because the food is amazing I have had the pasta and burgers all good! Maybe if tables where sit up like a restaurant sitting will get a warmer welcome.

I came here on a groupon, so as we all know it’s a gamble on what you get. So with that being said, we walked in and were immediately hit with them smell of old cigarette smoke. And it was a Saturday night, completely dead inside. I was of course skeptical, and if we didn’t have a groupon I probably would have left because they had no beer on tap! Hehe. Thankfully I stayed though because they completely redeemed themselves with how delicious the food was!!! We got bruschetta and calamari for appetizers and everyone but me got burgers for the entrée. I got shrimp scampi and wouldn’t encourage anyone to get that. But the burgers looked and tasted amazing. Waitress was attentive. I really have no actual complaints… So don’t judge a book by its cover like I do! Lol

We like this fun little place! Friendly people in the bar, always having fun! The bar bites are yummy, the pizzas are delicious (pot roast pizza) the staff is accommodating and made our visits entertaining! Music is never lacking. More TVs would be better for sporting events. Parking a plenty! Pool table, sidewalk café, good food make this a destination spot!

Great neighborhood place to meet friends and grab a drink. Everything I have eaten there has been very good. Try the Metks Burger and sweet potatoe fries. Always has some kind of special going on. Check it out! Outside seating too

Best burgers around. Always a fun time. Plenty of room for family dinners. Great menu items with awesome daily specials. Nice friendly staff and the owners are super. Very clean and well decorated.

I’ve been to Zee’s Food and Sprirts several times. I simply call it «Zee’s», I keep coming back. What can I tell you, the food is wonderful. I have had many different types of burgers over the years, but the Zee’s «Merk Burger» is out of this world, the Merk Cheese is what makes it so amazing. I also suggest you try the «Pot Roast Pizza», If you want to talk about Unique pizza, this is it, not to mentiong that it is also delicious. I have found the staff to be very friendly and quiet interesting people. Zee’s is a bar restaurant that actually caters to the family as well as the night time crowd. They had an amazing Easter Party for children Easter Sunday. The Kentucky Derby Party was a full house, I have to give Zee’s a huge thumbs up. It’s your neighborhood bar with a little more of everything. I am going back again tonight.

Fun bar, great beef pizza and amazing filet sliders! There’s a pool table and live music if you’re not there for the game. Lively staff will pour you a great drink and there’s often specials. A new owner for this corner bar, adding some life for the locals. Formerly The Play Room.
