My favorite neighborhood bar within walking distance. Friendly proprietor and bartenders make any visit to the Windsor a pleasant one. The bar has a large outdoor covered patio which is great for summer and shoulder seasons. The inside is cozy and mid-sized with beautiful woodwork throughout. Nice neighborhood establishment, definitely not a divey bar. Major thumbs up to them for their bar menu. Best burgers in Jefferson Park IMO. If you try one, you’ll get hooked and come back. Yes they’re that good. Great place to come in to watch sporting events. Better people, better food and better beer!

Great neighborhood bar. Decent drinks and good food. When my late boyfriend lived in the neighborhood they let us take his dog into the patio area. Place gets busy/crowded during key sports games like the Blackhawks and Bulls.

Very cute bar, has booths as in, along the wall. It got busy at moments but then kind of not. They don’t have menus but they have some listed on a chalkboard on the wall. I enjoyed it. We had a beer and an order of chips and salsa, that at first i looked at and i said«really, why does the salsa come in a plastic container like that?» The salsa was spicy and good, but if it was more presentable then i would’ve enjoyed it even more, yes presentation is a big deal to me. The bartenders seemed to be on the«alternative side» so music was a little interesting, they played from pop to rock, which was fine. Id return if I’m back in the neighborhood

I’m jealous of anyone who lives within walking distance of the Windsor. This is the kind of cozy, friendly Chicago neighborhood bar I would go to all the time. Great patio and covered outdoor space, warm, wood-filled bar(and a second level for parties). These bartenders are the best, too.

Me and my wife were in the neighborhood with our daughter and dropped in as she is a fan of this place. Looks like a kind of dive, Irish pub so we lowered our expectations. We were wrong. Great service and truly great but simple food. Looks like our daughter has good taste after all. Nice job here. No bells or whistles… just quality. This place will be around for awhile.

Great neighborhood place to grab a beer/cocktail and sit out on a small patio. The menu is a little small, however what they do have is totally worth it. They even play soccer games(for those feeling lost in a world of American sports)

Was actually headed to another bar, but took a wrong turn and stopped in. Ended up staying 3 hours, my friend & I had such a good time. It was a very nice experience all around. They had a great outdoor section, but the inside was the best. You could sit right next to the front where they had the bar opened up, so you can have fresh air and a decent view. The décor was pleasant & the staff were awesome. The staff was attentive and friendly. Will definitely be going back.

Really nice neighborhood bar/pub! I’ve driven by so many times and have wanted to try it, so glad I finally did! Sat outside Friday night, busy inside, but waitress was still very attentive. Good selection, great prices! I will definitely be back!

Great little neighborhood pub with grub and sidewalk seating as well as a covered patio area. 6 indoor large screen TV’s for viewing from any seat. Another TV on patio for the smokers too.

Windsor Tavern is an interesting restaurant bar. Located on Milwaukee Avenue in what may be considered the north part of Portage Park, Windsor Tavern looks very much like an Irish pub from the outside. When walking in the outdoor theme in confirmed with all wood furnishings and bar. They have a couple TVs and the typical bar set up. They also have outdoor picnic table like seating. These tables have umbrellas. The menu is very interesting. Like I said above it has the feel of an Irish pub but the menu is much more representative of a mix of many local flavors. They have salads, steak and fish, burgers and sandwiches, soup, pizza, tacos, and all kinds of appetizers. The menu is not that large but they do have a little bit of everything. I had the dos tacos and they were pretty good. They had some drink specials written on a chalkboard that was placed outside. $ 5 Jäger bombs if I recall correctly. I imagine they have all kinds of specials throughout the week. I look forward to coming by and trying a few other things out at Windsor Tavern.

After a very long bike ride from our house through half of the North Branch Trail and back, we passed the Windsor Tavern and decided to park it for a beer and some early dinner. The Stanley Cup playoffs were playing inside and the place was packed to the gills, so we sat outside on their patio. Even though it’s on the corner of Milwaukee Ave., it’s pretty far north and it didn’t feel like we were sitting on a very busy, car-exhaust-filled street. The beer selection was adequate and the menu leaned very heavily on bar food standards. Never one to shy away from hot cheese, I ordered the quesadillas and hubs got a sandwich of some sort. The quesadillas were a masterpiece of ooey-gooey, 4-cheese, artery-clogging goodness. That and the beer made for a very pleasant, filling, post-3 hour bike ride re-fueling session. I really liked the atmosphere outside and would likely return to sit on the patio on another long bike ride through that area.

1. Good food 2. Great drink specials(especially those individual mini-pitchers of beers) 3. Great attitude from staff 4. Sidewalk/outdoor patio to enjoy in the summer 5. Rentable party space in the back My friends and I came here to unwind after a long day of strenuous yard work in the heat. We were pleasantly surprised to find that this place had super cheap beer in large quantities. Exactly what we were looking for. On top of that, their sandwiches and burgers were superb. The inside of the bar is cozy and small. The lighting and décor give the place a friendly and approachable feel. There is also outdoor sidewalk seating, perfect when you want to enjoy the cool summer breeze. Lastly, they have a big room in the back that can be rented out for parties and special events. One note on the bartender(forgot her name). When we came in, we waited a while to get attended to and when she finally showed up she was deeply apologetic and sweet and explained that she was the only one working until the next person showed up. Luckily reinforcements walked in a few minutes later and service was cool after that. I just have to give kudos to that bartender lady for keeping her cool and still managing to serve drinks at the bar, hand out menus, take orders, put in orders, and everything else in between when it was getting busy and still being able to be so polite and respectful.

Good little joint in Jeff park. If you haven’t been here in a while, come back. Great craft beer selection and food that is really good. Try the $ 5.50 burger special on Thur nights that is esp good and juicy. Also have the hot wings that are as good as any place around. Add rehabbed outdoor space in back or patio on the side and its awesome.
