Haven for Celiacs and those on a gluten free diet. 100% dedicated gluten free facility, and amazing food to boot! Best breakfast potatoes I’ve ever had(seriously — I didn’t know gourmet breakfast potatoes were a thing but that’s what these were), crunchy, crispy and soft on the inside popovers with vegan honey butter and delicious doughnuts. Go go go go go. Even if I wasn’t gluten free I’d like this food. I hope this place stays in business for a long, long time — I will be back anytime I visit Chicago.

I’m seating here, working and having a tea. Wonderful music, nice service. A great spot.

High time I reviewed this restaurant. Excellent service and food, and they really work on meeting your requests, whether due to dietary restrictions, allergies or just preferences. So refreshing! One of the first restaurants I was ever in that offers coconut lattes, and they are just plain yummy. I will never go back to milk. Ambiance is casual and relaxed, with comfortable chairs and unobtrusive décor. Nice folks, too: the smiles feel genuine. The pastries are heavenly and I have developed a very bad habit of coming by to grab a coffee to go and of course I usually succumb to a vegan chocolate doughnut. There are worse addictions, right?

I work from home on Fridays and, in an effort to escape my tiny apartment, frequent this neighborhood spot. It can be whatever you want it to be from 10 – 3: quick stop for coffee and a pastry, brunch with friends, lunch with kiddos, or-in my case-office for the day. The service has consistently been really good. The food is all gluten free, which is good for the gluten-intolerant out there, but shouldn’t deter the gluten lovers. I’m not gluten free and can attest that the food is great. I encourage everyone to support this small business!

My boyfriend knows I’m very sensitive when it comes to food and found this gluten free café for breakfast! I was in shock that a 100% gluten free place existed! Food was amazing! I had the Egg and Herb breakfast sandwich on their homemade English muffin with a side of spicy potatoes. My boyfriend ordered the bacon mushroom and cheddar omelet with a side of blueberry pancakes. We tried a bit of each plate and everything was just beyond expectations. And to top it off as we were leaving we grabbed some baked good from the front counter: pumpkin cinnamon roll, chocolate chip scone, and a double chocolate donut. They serve them warm and let’s just say they didn’t make the ride home! Highly highly recommend this place! Take my cousin here very soon!

Get the popover with sausage gravy and 2 poached eggs for brunch… you won’t regret it! The popover has a light lemony taste that is oh so yummy! You would never even suspect it was gluten-free it was so light and airy. Apparently it is the only place in Chicago you can get a gluten-free popover. They had good bacon and mimosas too. Very satisfying meal!

Right when I walked in I was greeted nicely and seated by the window. My waitress came by and took my order and that was the first/last time I saw her. I ordered an egg sandwich which was ok and Nutella pancakes which were so cold that I only had a few bites. After I was finished I sat there for about 20 minutes and realized no one was going to come by again. I just got up, told the guy at the register what I ordered, paid and left. A cute spot but I wouldn’t be going back based on the service.

Please don’t taste healthy please don’t taste healthy. For a place that that claims to be gluten free, I wouldnt have known the difference. Great portions. Ooey gooey chocolate pancakes with perfectly cooked poached eggs. Never ending coffee. And the nicest staff. Although busy, every seat filled, there was great turnover so we never had to wait. Comfy pillows filled the side bench that set the stage for the coziest yummiest gulit free brunch!

Wheat’s End is a haven for anyone who eats gluten-free. For some, it’s not life threatening but makes them feel better. For others who have Celiac disease, it’s no joke & this is the ONLY spot in Chicago one can feel 100% comfortable. Other places may seem to get it, but bring the salad with croutons… We had the special Bloody Mary’s which were perfectly spicy & fresh vs old processed crap you get at some bars! The food was amazing! Not only is it GF but they use organic eggs which you rarely see in Chicago, & is much appreciated! I loved the 48-hr short rib dish, the Benedict, and just dream of the biscuits. The cheddar chives biscuits, English muffins, mini bread loaves, bagels are delicious & legit tasting to store away in your freezer & fridge. Senza was an amazing restaurant & it’s sad it didn’t last. A couple years ago people were not ready for elevated gluten-free fare. So happy this spot stayed GF! This restaurant & bakery is a gem in East Lakeview with its modern design but yet cozy & inviting! We only wish they were open for dinner even 1 – 2 times per week

I finally am here. It’s been several months since tasting the English muffins at the gluten free expo. The cheese biscuit is buttery, cheesy and moist. By far the best gluten free biscuit I’ve tasted and pretty close to the best ever. Ask that it be served warm-heavenly… The cinnamon roll comes out piping hot. It is sweet and had just the right amount of cinnamon. The bread part is a little sticky. Apple-pear pancakes. They come with maple syrup and candied pecans. Nice twist on traditional pancake. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about menu. There are usually vegan donuts, cookies and muffins available which are quite tasty. They. also have English muffins prepackaged to go-they’re pretty tasty when toasted.

Cannot say enough about this place. Food was soooo good! My mother is GF and has a terrible time finding food when we go out to restaurants, so when I took her here she was giggling with excitement at the fact that she could eat everything on the menu. Really great place and wonderful addition to Broadway.

I had a fantastic experience for brunch this past Sunday. The meal was fantastic, the service was incredible and the décor was the coolest. It was the perfect place to start my day! My family of 5 adults and one toddler all were greeted warmly and only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. And while waiting I really took in the environment. It was so peaceful and relaxing with light purple and blue tones. It felt modern but still inviting, something which is not always achieved with modern. My mom and sister are gluten sensitive so for them it was awesome to order off the menu without worry. And for my dad who hates anything labeled gluten-free was perfectly happy with his meal of eggs and bacon. My mom and sister highly recommended the waffles made with zucchini. I was so torn and ended up ordering one of the specials of the day(and had a bite of the waffles). I had the popovers with sausage gravy and 2 poached eggs. It was fantastic! And my toddler son enjoyed bites off of everyone’s plate. I look forward to going back next time I’m in the city!

Service was slow, but friendly. Food was pretty decent. It didn’t blow my mind, but for being gluten-free, I guess it was tasty. We got the upside down pear pancakes and the prosciutto benedict. It was disappointingly crunchy. It’s possible our expectations were too high, and that GF food simply CAN’T be as good as we want it to be in our heads, but I just have to keep holding out hope that that’s not the reality we live in. Also, something about the plating made the dishes feel really… scant. I overheard the guy at the table next to us grumble a little at the abject tiny-ness of his omelette, so it wasn’t just me.

This place never disappoints! The staff are great — they’re really knowledgable about the menu, and always extremely nice. The the décor includes a really pleasing mix of woods(weird observation, I know) as well as some fun design elements like hanging wire birds. I especially like sitting at the high padded bench wall. The menu itself is varied enough without being overwhelming. It’s just right. In summary, let’s just say I have no dietary need to avoid gluten or dairy, but I still love coming here!

Hours here are awkward but definitely worth getting in and trying. The gf English muffin is super tasty. Staff is super nice. Space is relaxing. I’m not gf but will certainly be back. Also. The website still says that they only serve breakfast sandwiches and stuff like that on weekend brunch but the café is open during the week now too. It’s confusing. Just go ya little gluten free hounds.

We made a pizza last night on their frozen gluten free base and it was perfect! The crust was a real pizza crust — not flatbread style!

This is a gluten free place that my roommate and I checked out for brunch a while back. Typically I’m not a gluten free type of person, but this place has the potential to convert me. I ordered an upside down pear pancake. When it came out it had been flipped so that the pears were then on top. The great thing is that with the pears already cooked and the juice from them forming a sort of glaze on the pancake you didn’t need any syrup at all it was already sweet. As far as the environment goes. It was a very chic place. soft bright colors they light up the whole room and give it a nice open and airy feel. If I lived a little closer to this place I’d probably be back

Went here for breakfast this morning. Our waitress greeted us and took our drink order immediately but we waited 14 minutes for our coffee to arrive to our table. Yes, it was a Saturday morning but the place was not very busy at the time. The menu lists ‘fresh squeezed orange juice’ and since we were seated right next to the front counter we were able to notice they were pouring the oj from an orange juice carton so it was not fresh squeezed. Another thing we noticed was a container of strawberries sitting on the counter which some were covered in mold. Also, from our table we could see the bus boy washing used coffee mugs in a hand washing sink at the front counter without soup. He used his bare hands to scrub them and dried them with a used sanitizing towel. However the food was delicious, it was a nice atmosphere and we love that it caters to those who eat gluten free. The cleanliness issues just happened to be a big turn off and are very hard to look past despite how well the food was.

I’m a huge fan of Senza, and was sad to hear that they were closing and would be replaced by their(an expanded version of their) sister café. Things will probably change as the restaurant proper shuts down in January. Right now, the restaurant bar is transformed into a table for displayed(all gluten-free) baked goods — muffins, carrot cake, scones, and breads. The selection is small, but reasonably diverse. I tried one of their carrot cakes. It was denser than most carrot cakes, but good for one that was gluten free. I’m hoping that eventually I’ll be able to get rid of that last qualifier for good. Will be curious to see how this bakery/café does as they get more settled in. Seems like they’re going for the friendly neighborhood place vibe right now.
