Way beyond the average sandwich shop… On my second visit I had the Wham… which is braised lamb and a goat cheese, some sort of specialty mayo. on an herbed ciabatta roll. it was really great.(their ciabatta rolls are pretty huge too, picked up 2 of those just to have them another night). sandwiches come with a side of salad or soup. i got the salad, which was basically just lettuce, croutons, and dressing… but they have a great selection of house made dressings. I picked up a truffle vinegerette… It was so good I found myself licking my plate. seriously. i wish i were kidding about that.(luckily I took it all ‘to go’ so i could do this in the privacy of my own home!!) they have a nice selection of side dishes you can go and pick up by the pound. Their potato salad is $ 5/#, cheaper than down the street and its really good. They have a lot of other sides that look really good, too. Picked up a pot au crème. like a high class chocolate pudding… $ 2.50, and it hit the spot. They deliver during lunch hours. For dinner I think they just changed their hours and close at 7pm? Fabuuless addition to the neighborhood!

I’ve been here 3 times(each a different sandwich) and all were great As for what other posters said yes — it is «just» sandwiches(aside from weekly entries like crab cakes) but they are amazing! My favorite is the curry chicken salad… try it The owner is very friendly too, always makes us feel welcome and gives out free samples

The sandwiches are fresh, the ingredients are anything but ordinary — I had the Country-Style Duck pâté, Chicken Liver Mousse, Red Onion & Brie Cheese on a toasted Baguette with Dijon Mayo & Baby Frisée. Other sandwiches include sous-vide leg of lamb; lobster and scallop«sausage»; as well as more refined takes on Ham, Turkey, etc. The guys that work there are fun and love talking you through the options. The space is small and kind of subterranean, but that should not keep you away.

Wow, delicious! It’s a DELI, so yeah, it’s all sandwiches. I had the crab cake special. Could have been cut in half to make handling easier, but it was yummy. As was the salad with Roquefort, Cognac & Black Pepper dressing. Even the samples of corn salad were tasty. This place is small inside, only 4 tables as you step down from street level into a kitchy garden level space. All the black & white photos represent the sandwich name inspirations: Marilyn Monroe, Just Jack, Bette Midler, etc. Everything else on the menu looked inviting, so I hope to make it back soon!

this place has great sandwiches which are made fresh to order. My wife is a vegetarian and loves the judy garland, Me i love the wham sammich. It is soooo good that i find myself thinking about it. We both love the free side salad/chips or soup that come with the 10 dollar sandwich. so if you think about it its really a good deal. We both love the soft shell crab sandwich and split one with our orders. Dan and sergio are the 2 guys we’ve met while there and they are sweeter than yams. all the ingredients are fresh and high end. Your gunna like the way you eat, i guarantee it. If you complain about the portions you might be fat and maybe smaller portions aren’t so bad then are they fatty, it is not the cheese cake factory. but for real this place has great gourmet sandwiches for people who appreciate good quality food. I love it.

Great ideas, uninspired delivery. I really wanted this to be a great addition to the neighborhood, but they fall short in their execution. I had received a menu and was excited to try the great sandwich combos detailed. Then I actually went to the restaurant and was throughly dissapointed in the quality of the food and prices. $ 10 for a sandwich?! Seriously? The people working there are friendly and accomadating, they just need to put a bit more passion into their food and presentation.

I really liked the sandwich I had(the Marilyn Monroe), which was as rich and decadent as is promised on the menu. And I am intrigued by some of the other sandwiches. But the service was kind of slow which isn’t the end of the world… and is easy to ignore. The thing I didn’t like was that restaurant itself was really really warm for a summer; either the a/c was off or they don’t have one. This is a mild surprise because they obviously poured a lot of money and work into redoing the space. If I lived closer I wouldn’t hesitate to order carry-out.

The food at this place is decent, but the customer service leaves A LOT to be desired. I’ve shown up 4 times when they’ve been closed or are in the process of closing, even though they were supposed to be open according to the hours posted on the door. Chef Michael should pay attention to the employees he hires, it doesn’t seem that they’re doing a good job of minding the store.

If you haven’t been to Wally & Agador’s you are missing out. They have some of the most creative and delicious sandwiches around(I really love«The Divine Miss M»). If you are in the mood to really treat yourself try the«Agador».

I really like Wally & Agador’s. The sandwich’s are wonderful and it’s a nice change of pace from the standard to-go places you see in the neighborhood or in the Loop.(No more Corner Bakery please!) A few things I noticed from the postings below: — The website is wrong; it’s actually:
— They have a menu on their site and it’s on Hope this helps!

other post-ers have probably said it better. however, i’m joining the club in saying that the food was great, but my entire experience left me a bit confused. from the outside, the signs in the window make this tiny place seem like a grocery store. i thought they were going for the kitsch factor. walked in, sat down for a few moments at one of 3 or 4 tables before i realized: no waiter service and sandwiches only(ok a few salads, but as sides only). we ordered a couple of sandwiches to eat there(that’s what the tables were for, right?), and all 3 sandwiches came on one tray with no plates. i’m into being«green» so that’s alright, but when you’re eating a sandwich overladen with anything spillable, some sort of catch-all is appreciated. and the food? well, like i said before, it was all sandwiches. i guess i should have done some more research on this place but i made the assumption it would be more«southport grocery”-like with the menu. my sandwich(of filet mignon medallions & roquefort cheese) left some to be desired. kudos(seriously) on cooking the filet PERFECTLY, however, the cheese was a bit too much and overpowered the sandwich. however, the salad dressing i chose(champagne something or other) was perfect for the mixed greens. i think i would have appreciated their efforts a bit more had i been forewarned of the above mentioned things, but i’m willing to go back to give it a second chance.

So, like a few other people, I also thought this was going to be some doggy day care when I saw the sign on the window depicting two dogs(which have now been removed) Luckily, I work in the area and they delivered a menu to my office because last week it poured like the world was about to end. I decided to make a run for it and finally check it out … and I’m glad I did. I had the Elton John(chicken sausage with dried huckleberries on brioche with truffle sauce, shallot jam & pommes frites) There was this amazing flavor in my mouth on the first bite. The meat was juicy, the berries were sweet and the pommes frites piled on top added a great crunch. It made me very glad I also ordered dessert as a treat for later in the day. The Wally(peanut butter, marshmallow fluff & sliced bananas) was pretty good — you just can’t go wrong with Marshmallow fluff. Great sandwich selection but probably the most I’ve paid for a lunch meal around here … the two sandwiches and a drink came to about $ 21 and the side chips weren’t crispy and yes, very thin. However they still get the 4 stars because I also loved the mix of music they had playing. Oddly enough, Tainted Love just puts me in a good mood and the Bossa Nova song kept me there. Its definintely worth a try!

When this café opened up in my neighborhood recently, I was initially confused. The original sign on the window featured illustrations of the owner’s dogs, which led me to believe that the establishment was some sort of pet store, or doggie restaurant, or dog boutique. A few days later, I noticed the dog illustrations had been removed, however, and took a menu from the display outside to look over. I finally stopped in today for lunch and was quite pleased. A man I presume to be the chef/owner was quite friendly and welcoming. After studying the menu, I chose the«Wham Sammich.» This phenomenal sandwich featured sous vide leg of lamb,(which was cooked PERFECTLY,) with thyme, garlic and black pepper mayo, eggplant caviar, and a fabulous creamy goat cheese. The menu says it’s served on a baguette, but mine was served hot on ciabatta, which I would have preferred anyway. This sandwich was balls-out delicious! I was given the choice of chips or a small side salad and opted for the tiny portion of razor thin chips, which unfortunately were rather bland. I didn’t care, however, the sandwich was so freaking good. I also tried the chocolate pot au crème, which was tasty, but not quite creamy enough for me. It kind of reminded me of eating chocolate frosting from a can… well, really good chocolate frosting, anyway. I noticed they also have a selection of pates, salads, and other take home options, which I will definately try in the future. Although the menu is a tad pricey, I think you definately get what you pay for here, and the food is well worth it’s cost. Where else are you gonna get sous vide leg of lamb for $ 10?

It’s always great to see a new sandwich shop with a little personality open up. Wally & Agador’s definitely fits this bill; a quirky owner has crafted a unique and interesting menu with a large variety of sandwiches that use a wide array of fun ingredients. I had the Mambo Italiano, a tasty take on a classic italian sandwich layered with prosciutto, some gourmet cheese, roasted red pepper, scallions and some truffle oil(see picture). Two thumbs up. Others I was with got a turkey sandwich whose highlight(in my opinion) was the fluffy brioche roll it was on and the Esther Williams, a lobster and scallop sausage which didn’t seem to go over that well despite being served on a great pretzel roll. Bonus points for having a ham sandwich on the menu(the Mama Cass) named for someone who died eating a ham sandwich.

I agree with Miranda — you can’t go wrong with a restaurant named after the owner’s 2 pups, with glamour shots of the dogs proudly displayed on the wall. It’s a small place with only about 4 tables and it’s easy to miss as you’re driving by, but it’s very well worth the stop. The gregarious and chatty female behind the counter suggested I try the Judy Garland — a wonderful concoction of portabella mushrooms, robiola cheese, artichoke hearts and mixed olive tapanade on a whole wheat ciabatta roll, toasted panini-style. YUM! I also got a side order of the curried chicken salad with pine nuts and currants — outstanding! A little spendy at $ 16 for both, and the complimentary ‘side salad’ was a bit of a waste, but I will certainly go back and try more of the great selections. I’m very intrigued by The Wally(peanut butter, marshmallow fluff and bananas) and The Agador(nutella, marshmallow fluff and bananas) — both served hot on a batter dipped croissant. ‘Might have to try one of these for dessert some day…

Excellence speaks for itself. Today is their fifth day in business. Lox-O-Meter points to B for Bonkers that here you can buy house-cured and smoked salmon for $ 18/lb and it’s damn delicious. Also superbly delicious: duck pâté, chicken liver mousse, Rosie’s Mambo Italiano Sandwich(prociuto, Talieggio Cheese, basil and truffle oil on toasted Rosemary Flatbread), and the Mamma Cass Sandwich(ham or turkey, Gueyre, lettuce tomoato and Dijon on Brioche). Tons of other sandwiches, salads, tapenade, pastries, Duck Confit and Duck, Foie Gras & Mushroom Strudel. They even serve lobster & scallop sausage!, to which here the Lox-O-Meter pointed to T for«trafe»(opposite of Kosher), but who cares?! A most welcome opening in my neighborhood!
