If you’re looking for a fancy and upscale pizza joint, this sure isn’t it! If you’re looking for a quality delicious pizza in a welcoming comfortable setting… This is the right place!!! I prefer to go in the afternoon because it’s less crowded, but who am I kidding, this pizza is worth a wait too! Lol

I grew up not too far from here but didn’t pay a visit to nick and Vito’s till I was older. The service is great. The beer is old style but they also have mixed drinks and wine. The pizza is delicious and crispy unlike any other pizza place I’ve been to. My favorite is the Italian beef pizza. The giardinera is a bit mild but you can add crush pepper if you like it spicy. My recommendation is to go on a weekday. Weekends are jammed pack and you will be lucky if you get to wait 30minutes.

5-star rating is for the excellent thin-crust pizza and memorable experience. V&Ns is cash only so be prepared. It is a casual, no-thrills dining experience worth sharing with anyone who loves homemade thin-crust pizza. Make the trip– you won’t be disappointed!

If you want to travel in time back to the 70s take a trip to Vito and Nick’s. The original location has carpet on the walls, dim lighting, and limited glassware.(But no need to worry, they have plastic glasses as backup.) They are still a cash only establishment. The pizza crust is cracker thin and the sausage is legendary. It’s not your typical thick Chicago pizza. If you’re in the mood for a classic south side staple stop by Vito and Nicks and don’t forget your cash.

I grew up down the street from this place and will come back for the best pizza as often as I can. It’s crowded, friendly, and one of a kind. The Italian beef pizza with giardinaire is the best. The shrimp pizza is also surprisingly good. You have to go here!

The best tin crust pizza in Chicago! The staff at vito and nicks are the best. Food is always right on time, never have to wait and always cooked to perfection!

You have to give this place a try. It’s an old school pizza place that hasn’t been updated sice the 70’s? The little dining area is crammed with an outdated bar that has old style as the main choice on tap. With all that being said their pizza is awesome. Thin crust, fully cooked and seasoned. Warning: sometimes they will burn the top of the pizza. Its been featured on tv like that and other times it comes out normal. I’ve had both and didn’t bother me. If you are claustrophobic then I wouldn’t recommend eating here on the weekends.

Best thin crust pizza without question. service was good and a friendly bar environment. It’s the only restaurant I know of that has carpeting on the wall. Cash only!

The pizza is to die for, prompt friendly service too. Just remember to bring cash, I had to run across the street to the atm.

I gotta say, I’m not the biggest thin crust fan, but Vito & Nick’s has some pretty darn good pizza! My friend and I got sausage, green peppers, and onion pizza, and it was delicious! Something about the way the toppings were minced, and the cheese was gooey… makes my mouth water just thinking about it! The inside feels like a diner — got a bar with TVs, some booths, and some round tables. Feels broken in and homey, just the way I like it. If you’re looking for a no frills break from deep-dish, try Vito & Nick’s!

Paid another visit to Vito & Nick’s and it was even better the second time around! This time my boyfriend and I came in a little after lunch on a Monday and it wasn’t as busy as our first visit. I thought that this visit was definitely a lot more enjoyable. It wasn’t as crowded and loud, we definitely got to see this place in a completely different light and we liked it! Same server as before and she was definitely a pleasure! And as before, the service was pretty impeccable! There were customers at the bar, and 3 — 4 other tables, it was like we had the place to ourselves and it was nice! Pizza is still pretty on point! My boyfriend and I like to order our own Large Pizza’s, he’s a meat lover and I’m a Veggie hugger. This time around we ordered Mozzarella Sticks and French Fries while we waited for our pizza. It wasn’t long for our appetizers to hit the table and just as we finished those our pizza was came out one after the other. Pizza was definitely on point, just how I remembered it, and plenty to take home! I should also mention, the pizza is pretty amazing as leftovers Hot or Cold! YUM!

I checked out this spot after I saw it featured on the food network. The pizza was good the sauce wasn’t too spicy and settled great. I will order here again. The chicken zingers were good and I’d like to try more appetizers. The overall cost is cheap. Bring cash when you cards accepted

The service and prices here are amazing. Cold beer, attentive staff. First class all the way. The pizza is OK. Not the best you’ll have, but far from the worst.

Seeing this place in Chicago’s best and the mouth watering thin pizzas, I had this place bookmarked for months now! Finally we got the chance to visit this place last weekend on a Friday. Of course we should’ve known the place was packed! The waiter told us that it’ll take an hour to seat us, and being hungry, I decided to order carry-out as they said it’ll take only 30 mins. We got the italian beef and crushed pepperoni and eggs. After bringing the food home, when I first bit into my pepperoni+egg pizza, it was just so SALTY! I could barely taste the flavor over all this salt. Same thing with my italian beef. I’m not sure if this is how it’s usually served or if they just mistakenly put salt on ours twice, but with such high anticipation, this place was a big let down for the taste of oversalting my pizza. I really want to give this place another try and try their sausage. Maybe we’ll go on a less busy day and try to find a seat.

This kinda looks like a hole in the wall dinky old place to me upon walking in. You’re greeted and then you sit where you want. Our waitress was nice and kinda explained the menu to us while we waited. What we ordered: Breaded Mushrooms: Good Wing Zings: Delish, It comes w/bbq sauce(I’m from KC so this bbq sauce just wasn’t, and some kinda sour cream/ranch dip thing that was good!) Mozzarella sticks: Good! Pepperoni, Cheese, Sausage & Mushroom, and Italian Beef Pizza! all good But my favorite was the Italian Beef Pizza, I don’t even know how to explain what it taste like but its so good, their crust is crispy and crunchy when you bite into it and the sauce is not over powering! Just what we needed the first night in Chicago!

I’ve said it before & I’m not ashamed to say it again… I am a pizza whore. I love it, and love trying all of the different crusts, sauces, toppings, combinations. While I do prefer wood fired pizza to any other — I have thoroughly enjoyed other crust /dough variations as well. This place was featured on Triple D awhile back. I enjoy watching Guy and he sure knows how to make everything he shoves in his face look mouthwatering delicious. Does this mean that all restaurants featured on the show provide exemplary food & service? NO. IT. DOES. NOT. And Vito & Nick’s is a fine example. Crust is more of a ‘cracker, wafer thin, crispy, well done’ type. Different, and pretty good by it’s own right. Sauce, decent & little thicker, not the ‘fresh or light’ kind. Topping, I really really really really wanted to try the egg, but unfortunately it was not offered the night I was here. I’ve had eggs on pizza before and enjoy that oozing yolkiness… provides another dimension. So instead ordered the mushroom /sausage. Took awhile before receiving it… patience is a virtue they say. My pizza overall was tasty, homemade sausage had really good flavor and not greasy or fatty. We also tried the fried smelts. Don’t find this often, so I liked that it was a menu item. They were just OK. I’ve had better, and frankly couldn’t eat more than just a few… other’s at my table agreed they weren’t the greatest. The interior of this place is on the grungy side and service was ‘meh’. This is NOT traditional Chicago style pizza if that’s what your looking for. I give this joint props for unique crust and a satisfactory pizza experience… but I wouldn’t go out of my way to be reacquainted with this pizza again… TIP: don’t believe everything you hear & see on DDD!

Well after months of wanting to visit this establishment, I was sorely disappointed. The only reasons they got the two stars was for the cracker crust. Yes, it is thin, yes it is crisp, and yes it does stand up to all the toppings without folding in a mess of sauce and toppings. BUT no the service was horrible. Took 20 minutes for the menu. Then took another 20 minutes for the ONLY waitress there to take our order and then ANOTHERHOUR for our pizza. It was good, but not worth the wait, the staff, the dirty tables and to top it off, when we got out bill the pizza price was three dollars higher than the menu price, which respectfully said in fine print«prices subject to change without notice». In other words, we can do what we want but we do not want to have our menus reprinted with the correct information. The topping on the cake was we asked for a box to take the rest home only to have our pizza wisked out from under us and returned in a BAG, seriously one piece on top of the other just the way it should be RIGHT!!! I remember a family place near Midway years ago Santucci’s on Cicero and 62nd I think. Now that was pizza and service. Really miss them. But from now on – this is a pass. If the sign says open for business, they should be ready to serve their customers. It was 2 in the afternoon so it was not a mad rush!

I saw this place on a list of America’s top pizzerias and I heard it was featured on DDD, so I was extremely excited to try this out. One of my coworkers spoke very highly of this place, so we made the 40 minute trek from Hyde Park(DURINGTRAFFIC!) to try this place out. I must admit that my expectations for this place were really really high. I mean Guy Fieri liked it! I ordered their house special — peppers, onion, and sausage(it’s the house special, so shouldn’t it be extra special?), and it was pretty good. The crust was phenomenal, very crispy, and almost like a cracker. The sausage was not my favorite however. My friends got the sliced beef with hot giardinera, and they seemed to enjoy it. As much as I enjoyed it, I don’t think it was worth the long drive. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, you should definitely stop by here.

I’m a sucker for family-owned, neighborhood establishments. While Vito & Nick’s has been on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and is on numerous«best of» lists, it still retains the feeling of the neighborhood pizza joint. When you see pictures of the original owners and their wives – resplendent in their 40’s-era tuxes and wedding dresses – it feels like something of legitimate interest to the patrons, not kitsch or hipster atmospherics. To put it simply, this place keeps it real. If you don’t believe me, ask«Lee» the lady holding court at one of the tables who chats up nearly every customer who walks by – and finds out your story if she doesn’t know you – while eating Frango mints! She was a waitress there for something like 50 years and is pure Chicago. If her accent doesn’t make you smile, nothing will. The ambience is nothing fancy – it could be the 60’s inside – but it isn’t obviously trying to evoke anything. There is Old Style on tap(what else are you going to drink) We had the Special – which is basically an everything pizza and the Italian beef. The Special was good – the ingredients were pretty quality. What really makes it is that the crust is quite nice. It is crunchy like a cracker – not really what I’m used to, but I appreciate its simplicity. The Italian beef was amazing. The contrast between the rich beef and the plain cracker crust was entrancing with every bite. I could eat that all day. I totally fell in love with this place and will certainly be back. I hope to see Aunt Lee when I go!
