After a bad experience at a few shops on the south side i decided to try one in my area. I stopped by Victory and Rashad hooked me up. My taper/razor lining was on point. If you are tired of going to barbershops that treat their customers like crap stop wasting your time and $$. Pros:Fresh cut, Customer service, Free Parking in the back, Laid back atmosphere. Cons: you don’t give your $$ to the barber at the end of the cut. You have to walk up to the front and pay.

Probably one of the worst haircuts I’ve ever had. The one where the barber seriously cut my ear was probably just as bad but at least my hair looked good when he was done. I decided to head down there because the owner, Brian, had let me know one day while I was walking by they were running a special on a cut & shave since they just opened. I am a sucker for a barber shave and I just really needed a trim around the back and sides to clean up before a wedding. I called and made an appointment. I got there on time and had to wait about 20 minutes after my appointment time for a chair. Normally I wouldn’t have an issue with that, however, there were two barbers sitting there watching t.v. with me while one guy was doing a cut. Why am I sitting here with you waiting when you could be cutting my hair? I should have taken that as a bad omen and left. Finally the guy cuts my hair. The back looked o.k. but when I got home I noticed my sideburns were completely crooked and the back was cleaned up but not trimmed shorter at all. There was tons of hair behind my ear that was not cut properly. I’ve had much better cuts at the Barber College from kids who have only been cutting for a few weeks and it took ½ the time. My sideburns were so messed up that they still look weird a week plus later because I had to trim them so high up to make them straight. The shave couldn’t have been worse. The towels were not warm. The barber clearly didn’t know what he was doing and was uncomfortable doing it. I’m surprised he didn’t seriously cut me. The owner and his brother just sort of sat there and watched, which is the worst part. You are a new business, trying to bring in a customer base. It’s o.k. if your people aren’t experts but don’t wait 30+ minutes to step in when you know out the gate that your people aren’t ready to provide that service. I had to shave most of my face again when I got home. Wouldn’t go back even if it was free and I was only looking to get my entire head shaved.

Good experience at Victory Barber Salon. The place is definitely a step above the competition in terms of professionalism and service. Although there are several barbershops in the SL, there is definitely a market for a next level quality barber salon. If this shop can mirror the quality of service that one could get at Timeout At Shannon’s in the West Loop, it could have a great future. However, if it goes along the lines of D’Jons barbershop, it will be closed before Christmas.

Great atmosphere. Great customer service Great neighborhood barbershop feel. Awesome no-fuss hair cut. They were able to decipher what I was asking for and went above and beyond. Even trimming my beard back to a normal look. It had a very relaxed and comfortable feel instead of the more often found pretentious salon feel. If you are in the south loop you should really pop by for a cut.

My husband went here and came back looking great, smelling great, and not complaining. That’s five stars in my book! He said they’re really down to earth and were watching Whacked Out Sports. Nothing for ladies, so grab martini at Opart Thai while you wait. Free Parking.
