Limited menu but connected to our hotel… great staff. Friendly… Good food. Great drinks.

Had a great meal after making a reservation for 7. Great staff and got seated in a private room which I highly recommend for big groups. On the brunch menu I’d recommend the sourdough sandwich

Came in for a quick lunch at the bar on a Monday. They offer complimentary house wine with a Unilocal check in. Sadly I had to explain what that meant to two employees before they would honor it. They believed me and all that they just didn’t understand it. Service took a while before I was served. I ordered their soup of the day which was a potato and leeks soup. The soup was excellent. All in all the experience was kind of average at best and I didn’t try enough food to really get a read on the place. But the house cabernet was good and free so its worth checking out.

I received a free coffee during the Cubs game as my girlfriend enjoyed her free glass of wine due to Unilocal check in. Also, we had the Vanilla gelato — that was a good choice.

Sunday nights during the Cubs and Mets game, we stumbled in looking for a quick desert and beverage. Lucky for me, Unilocal offered me a free glass of their house wine for checking in. My oh my, it went well with the vanilla gelato which the bartender recommended. She was sweet and very catering to us. Felt bad for taking up a spot at her bar to watch the game only to nurse my wine during the last 2 innings. Great service and a calm atmosphere to relax. Would stop in to try out their food if we’re ever in town.

Bar top dinner here last Friday night while in Chicago on business. The bartender was friendly and attentive. Mixed a great vodka martini to start off my meal. I liked the bar has a center island where the bartender works the mixes. Very interesting. I had 2 burger sliders for about $ 6 — wanted a light meal — and washed them down with a pinot noir. The sliders were solid, juicy and the tartar sauce was excellent. Bacon strips’ consistency was in between soft and crunchy, I actually liked that. The menu is limited, and I would come back for solo dinners, but not necessarily with company. Looking at the tables, ambiance is pragmatically sterile.

This review is for the brunch. A friend and I came for brunch on a Saturday around 1pm in the afternoon. We were a little surprised to be the only people there, but eventually a couple of more tables settled in while we were there. The ambiance of this place was very modern and classy, and I think it would be a good place to come back to experience at night for dinner. The brunch menu was pretty small, but we each found something we were comfortable with eating. I had a breakfast burrito, which was loaded with avocado and other ingredients. Very tasty and reasonably priced brunch

A friend and decided on Viand for dinner on a Friday night. It wasn’t crowded so we were seated right away. We chose sidewalk dining however the restaurant is beautiful. The décor is stylish and upscale(cream, candlelight, and lots of chandeliers). They had live music that was entertaining at best. The menu is very small, not a lot to choose from. I choose the cheese flat bread with arugula and my friend had a club sandwich. I’m only giving it 3 stars because of the menu selections. The food tasted great. But if you are hungry and looking for a huge selection, Viand is not the place. But if you are mainly looking for drinks, socialization and small plates, stop in.

Their house wine is delicious! The service was incredible and the tomato bisque soup was to die for. I arrived just to get a bite and enjoyed the candle lit table and atmosphere. I would definitely come back for any occasion.

While the food was well made and presented, my party of 3 had to wait two hours to receive our main courses. Our waiter completely forgot about us and only apologized when we were paying the check, which was 30% discounted for our troubles. The most attentive person was the busboy who cleared our plates and refreshed our drinks. The hostess ended up taking our order and she and the host brought us our food. They cited a large party and several other tables backed up in the kitchen as the reason for our food taking so long, but the restaurant was by no means a full house and the waiter should have still been able to manage our table in addition to the large party, else they should reassign him or bring on extra staff. The food was excellent when we got it, but not worth the wait.

By looking at the pictures on Unilocal,my expectations were not to high for this place. I thought I would be nice and casual dinner with my husband. When we walked in I was very pleasantly surprised with the ambiance and attentiveness of the staff. My husband had no clue where we were going and loved it the moment we walked in. The hostess immediately said: «Happy Anniversary!» to us and the tone for the evening was set right away for us. Then she gave us choices where we would prefer to sit — Thank you! We has a super cute and small table in the corner of the booth, which made it up-close and personal intimate experience with my husband. Our server Diamond greeted us right away and went over the featured items on the menu. The drink list had variety and was not terribly priced — I was impressed. I ended up ordering Moscow Mule(which I have never tried before) and my husband got his favorite: Mai Tai. The drinks came out pretty quickly and the celebration began… They had«Live Music» on Friday nights — Wooo Hoooo!!! Diamond gave us some time to look over the menu; it was not easy to choose — most of the items on the menu sounded wonderful! We ordered: Guacamole and salsa for an appetizer — it was delicious. My husband ordered sweet potato soup and I ordered Beet salad. He loved his soup! My salad was very delicious, the first 5 bites, but then got a little too overwhelming. One thing I did not like was that Diamond brought out our appetizer, soup and salad all at the same time. I asked her to take back the soup because we wanted to enjoy our appetizer first. We told her that we weren’t in a hurry… She took the soup back and when she brought it back out, it was the same soup that has been sitting under a heat lamp and developed the film on top — that wasn’t cool. She should have had a fresh one brought out. But it wasn’t anything that would ruin our night. For dinner I ordered Halibut and my husband ordered Filet Mignon. The food was absolutely delicious!!! The gentleman they had playing the guitar was absolutely INCREDIBLE. He played all the modern songs and is VERY talented! He made our night so much more romantic!!! I hope he is there every Friday night!!! Very talented guy! We decided to go to a different place for desert simply for adventure, not because we didn’t want to try theirs. We loved everything about our dinner at Viand and we will definitely be back!

Started out great, really went downhill. My wife and I decided after 4 days in Chicago we’d do an «appetizer meal». Started with the beet salad-Fantastic! Perfect balance and great presentation. Next was the charcuterie plate. While good, for the price it was skimpy on meat, only 2 choices? Marmalade was the bomb though. Next came the wings and the cheese fondue. The cheese fondue was thin and really flavorless. The«croutons» we’re quartered sourdough bread slices. The wings, while having a good glaze, were cooked to death and dry as a desert. The side of broccoflower(the waiter said it was cauliflower, so pleasant surprise) was cooked to perfection. Waiter was like the food, overall pretty good, very pleasant but for the amount of patrons could have been better.

I was drawn in by the menu but was kind of disappointed. Not sure if I was there on a slow night but since it’s attached to the Marriott I figured they would have at least a few peoe on staff. I ate dinner and then breakfast here. Dinner: went with a friend and we were seated immediately. There weren’t many people there so I figured we would be in and out. Our order was taken and bread was brought to the table. About a half hour later we still had not received our appetizer. It took almost 45 minutes to get our food, which turned out to be good, but honestly was there just one person on the wait staff or in the kitchen? He didn’t even check in on us until right before the appetizer came out so we didn’t really have a chan e to say anything. The entrée were just ok, not at all worth the wait or really the price. Breakfast: was seated immediately but at a table that had not been cleared which I thought was weird because there were plenty of other places to sit me. My food actually came out quickly this time and the quality was ok. Got decent service but it did take a while to get the bill. So I’ll probably go back here if I go back to the Marriott, but I won’t be thrilled about it.

This is mostly a casual steak restaurant. I highly recommend the avocado appetizer. For an entrée, I had the skirt steak with asparagus instead of fries, and incurred a $ 2 surcharge as a result. The food and service were really good, but I’d have to say it was a tad overpriced given the ambiance and portion sizes. For two people, the total cost was $ 75 for two entrees and one appetizer. We did not order any drinks other than water. After reading a few more reviews, I realized that they have a bar menu that is more economical, but from the sounds of it, far less healthy. I would have given them four stars if the cost had been more reasonable because the food was quite tasty. :)

I really like Viand. I had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. The scrambled eggs with the cheese was outstanding. I can’t remember the name of the cheese but it wasn’t the usual cheddar or jack. It was fabulous. The staff was top notch. When the waiter made a mistake with our order, he apologized, quickly resolved the matter and moved on. That meant a lot to me. I would definitely return.

I was staying at Marriott and wanted a quick dinner. I went to Viand and got their beet salad with salmon. The meal itself was delicious. The salmon was cooked nicely. It was flakey and moist.

I hosted a company meeting for 2 days in October in the private dining room in Viand and I have to say that Erika and the entire team at Viand went completely above and beyond to accommodate us: — The valet and bell staff helped me unload my car and wheel all of my contents back into the room — Erika arrived promptly and helped me unpack and set up — I was running behind and she even helped me stuff gift bags and decorate the room — I brought my own A/V equipment and they helped accommodate my need for an additional table for my projector screen The wait staff checked in regularly to take drink, food and starbucks orders on Day 1. They even arranged a champaign toast promptly at 5:30 to cap off our day. Day 2 had breakfast and lunch menu cards already printed and with my company logo. Again the staff checked in throughout the day to take drink orders, deliver lunch, etc. All members of management also checked in to introduce themselves and ensure all of our needs were being met. I have hosted meetings at many other locations in Chicago, many of them supposedly upscale, but none can compare to the level of service I received this week. I will definitely be back to host my next event and recommend them for any other company! THANKYOU!!!

i have been coming here for like a year and a half mostly on my way back home from work like say about 6 or 7. I find the staff to be very attentive to my needs even though I am not the biggest drinker in the world but I do occasionally enjoy a glass of vino with their awesome hamburgher. Although the burgher cost $ 15 it is well worth it. Those of you who hang out in the mag mile area will note that it is way hard to find a glass of wine for under $ 12 at 5 or 5:30 pm besdies for that hour. This place has 4 – 6 glases of wine for $ 7.50 that are of good quality. Yes that includes a sparkling wine from France. They also make a mean mojito. Its not too croded on most weekdays after work if you are looking for a place to chill out. A good place to watch MNF-otherwise known as Monday Night football
