My experience here is not a good one. My friend reserved a table. Most of his people were not allowed in the party but yet others are being let in no reservations. This is simply not right of it is filled to capacity then no one should be allowed in. People come here to have a great time and are having bad experiences. The place is nice but the customer service and organization sucks! What use is a beautiful place with bad service?! Makes me never want to come to this places again! That’s bad because it’s built nicely with an a awesome view. Something needs to be done or more information needs to be given in the beginning.

We were staying in a hotel close by and thought we would have a look at the Sky Lounge at the Dana Hotel. Proceeded to the entrance at the ground level. No one was outside the doors so proceeded inside(given that it was 0 degrees outside). Was met by a bouncer/doorman inside who refused to answer our question on whether or not we would be able to go up to the lounge until we go back outside into the cold and wait for him(This is ridiculous as it is literally a one word answer, and in any case, there was ample space in the entrance hallway). We went back outside. About a minute later the doorman/bouncer with the attitude joins us and starts speaking to two other people who have also arrived. I happened to overhear the conversation that they had with the bouncer/doorman. They were wanting to join a party already in Vertigo lounge. The bouncer/doorman’s response was that the party already in the lounge did not have bottle service and was not spending enough money. And that he was very generous to have let them in in the first place. And as such he would not be letting them join their party and that unless they had their own reservation he would not be letting them up. After hearing we immediately decided to turn around and leave. An establishment that cares only about extracting maximum profit and deals with customers with such arrogance is not a place I want to visit.

By the time we got here, after drinking so much at Purple Pig, the patio was already closed. Regardless, we received the most fun and awesome service by bartender and servers. The crowd was a little bit lame, felt like I was at a work function, but whatevs. Their specialty drinks were so good and so highly concentrated. ;)

Spectacular views, the particular weekend we went it was calm so it was really nice to take your time checking things out. The DJ was great playing new & old school tunes, NICE! The waitstaff was slow and not super friendly just okay. Vertigo brings in everyone, from the tourist, to the business class, to the really young and there’s us the fabulous ones… just playin… ;) great crowd for all! Definitely a place worth a return if your looking to take in the mesmerizing views of Chicago!

So disappointed with the NYE party Vertigo put together, it almost seemed like their first year doing this! Definitely NOT worth the $ 136 we spent on tickets. CONS 1. Coat Check. By the time our group got there(10 or 10:30-ish), coat check was already full, which sucked because even though the venue itself is pretty big for a lounge, it’s tiny when you think of all the people that will be there for NYE. 2. Music. Whack, seriously. The DJ played such a random flow of old and new music and at the end he played like 30 second clips of 15 – 20 songs. He didn’t even play any new hip hop either… It’s Chicago, come on! 3. Seating. Wish there was more available! Tip: Women like to go all out for NYE and the cutest shoes are definitely not always the most comfortable! 4. Food. All the places I’ve gone for NYE always offer a buffet setup for food because it’s impossible to walk around and think you’ll serve everyone. And with an anticipated full night of drinking, finger food is a MUST! So if you’re going to include food in the ticket price, at least make sure the distribution is better! They could have set up some kind of buffet style on the second floor or something. Our group didn’t get anything! PROS 1. View. So pretty! The deck is nice with the massive fire pit, for sure. Great spot for the daring to take nice pics in the freezing cold. 2. Access to Bar. The bar was pretty easily accessible and the bartenders did not skimp out on the alcohol. They also didn’t limit people to 1 drink per person or give tickets for drinks. It was pretty much a free-for-all and I appreciate that. Overall, the venue itself is nice and I’d definitely love to check it out in the summertime to chill, have dinner, and a few drinks. But for NYE, I need a place with current, up-to-date music and a few more places to sit, and a better way to get something to munch on. We made the best of it, put our coats on a ledge, and grabbed some chairs from outside. Thanks for the great drinks, but I don’t see myself ever coming back to this place for NYE.

I am a sucker for good views and this place has amazing views of the Chicago downtown. It has become one of my favorite spots to go to have a good time with an amazing view of the city. It is pretty easy to locate, google maps takes you right to the spot. However if you are driving then finding a parking might be little tough, you might need to park few blocks down at a private parking lot or do the street side parking but I would highly recommend to get a Über or Lyft. Entrance to the lounge is little small and if you are not from the area then there are chances of you missing it. I have been here during the daytime as well as during the night time — view is simply beautiful no matter time of the day you go. I love the décor as well — as soon as you step out of the elevator you are welcomed right in the middle of the lounge. They have outdoor patio seating with fireplace available. Last couple times when I went there during the night time, it was raining pretty hard so the entry to the patio was restricted. There is ample amount of seating available by the windows or by the bar area, they also have couches set up. There are two bars in the lounge — bartenders are nice and pretty attentive. For all the ladies if you prefer to take a picture with nice lighting I would highly recommend going the bar on the right corner with wooden table décor — take pictures by that corner and you will thank me later. They also have a professional photographer there with the camera roaming around during the night taking your snaps, if you give him your email address he would be glad to email you the pictures if not then you should be able to find them on their Facebook page [great way of marketing!]. I think my second favorite part of this lounge [first being the view of the city DUH] is the huge chalk wall by the bathroom area. I am not going to lie but I go little over board writing all the silly messages on that wall whenever I have been to the lounge — ladies another great place to take a picture. The bathrooms are pretty neat, I usually judge places or restaurants based on how clean their bathrooms are. Overall, BEAUTIFUL views, GREAT ambiance, GOOD service and an AMAZING time.

When you finally get inside after being inspected by the fashion police, check your coat because its complimentary. I insist on coat check because its a little cramped once you’re in the lounge. My cousin and I went on a saturday night and there wasn’t much space to to stand let alone dance a little bit. Since it is winter and the outdoor section is closed, I’m sure this place is better in the summer. Drinks were pricey, and nothing spectacular about it. There’s a fun chalk wall by the bar, so be sure to leave your mark. The views from sky lounge were really pretty. Since I was visiting from NY, it was nice to see Chicago’s city at night.

Not from here. Beautiful sky lounge. They can’t play music though, but makes it a good catch-up place, especially if you get a seat by the firepit outside. Nice views!

Dana hotels rooftop bar. Great view and firepits were the bomb! It was chilly while I was there so they were much needed! Staff was great and the people who were hanging out up there were cool too. The bartender made me a special drink with their cucumber vodka which I thought was great! Fun place to go and drink with friends. Good scene. not laid back but not uppity(at least the night we went)

Mike is the best. Cool views great cocktails! We got there around 9:30 on a Saturday and it was just starting to fill up. I recommend doing that if you just want a nice cocktail before things get crazy. The crowd was mostly european tourists.

The ambiance is okay. When we went there the outside area is closed. The drinks were bad. We ordered like 6 different drinks and they are all bad. So better stick with beer. The waitress is very nice and seems friendly. BUT the manager is very rude. For whatever reason, they have decided to close at 1am that night and they FORCED us to leave around like 0:30 by turning on the light! I would not go there again.

I came here on a Monday night while visiting Chicago and it’s the perfect spot for young, hip tourists like myself(lol jk I’m not cool) Anyways, we were here from like 10−12pm on a fall Monday and there was a good amount of people there! I can only imagine how crazy this place gets in the summer and weekends. and weekends in the summer. It’s part of of the Dana Hotel and Spa and you take these private elevators to the top. like 25th-ish floor. Not sky high, but high. The view is great. I wish there wasn’t SO high of a glass fence so you can capture some nice insta-worthy pics, but I assume there are lots of drunkies here on the weekends so it’s prob a good idea. There’s a large center fire pit, and other heat lamps, so it’s comfortable. Good amount of seating. Friendly, cheerful bartenders. As you might expect, drinks are pricey. Coronas are $ 7 which normally cost like $ 2. CHECKINON UnilocalFOR2FREESHOTZZZ

Talk about an amazing rooftop view!!! Came here for sunset drinks. Great vibe and atmosphere. Laid back and lots of seating outside. Very friendly bartenders — shout out to Marco — you were great! I’m sure this place gets crowded after sunset, but it is a perfect place to get a couple of drinks and lounge and watch the sunset. It reminds me of the Perch in Downtown LA. Would definitely recommend to anyone trying to get a beautiful view of the Chicago skyline.

Came here for an event. This is much smaller than I expected, and in order to go on the patio we actually had to spend like 20 minutes in line. After you get out there, the view is great though! The décor is simplistic yet tasteful. There was also plenty of places to sit, which I find very helpful, especially for ladies in heels! The drinks were pretty watered down though. Sigh.

This is a rather small place, I was shocked, but the décor was nice! We didn’t go outside because our table was inside, but we got a huge lounge area right by the window. TALKABOUT A BEAUTIFULVIEW!!! It was soooo nice! I love being able to sit and drink as opposed to standing, I guess that’s the snob in me LOL. My shoes were too cute not to wear, what do you mean I have to stand? LOL Our hostess. server. I don’t know what you call them, but they were great. They came over all the time and made us drinks and made sure everything was good. They were great and VERYVERYNICE. Usually they can be rude, but these woman were going above and beyond, which made the night, that much better. Hmmmm… I was not thrilled about going to this place at first. When I saw the line, it was the weirdest crowd to me. All types of ages, all types of people, but I guess maybe since it was in a hotel? I will have to say, I probably enjoyed this place because we ordered bottle service. At first there was a problem with our reservation, but the minute, we said bottles, we were literally treated like royalty, with the manager checking in on us quite often to see if everything is ok. It’s the politics of club/lounges, so it wasn’t anything that upset me. They are in it for the money. That is how businesses work.

A great spot for a night out with friends. I liked the views and ambiance of this place. Even on cold nights, they have fantastic ways of keeping you warm so you can still enjoy the outdoor experience. I was here on a Thursday night and it wasn’t too crazy so it was a great spot to go to at the last-minute.

This place a really nice view. Primarily came here for drinks in the evening. It’s a great location, and a very nice rooftop bar. The drinks were good, and decently priced. The music is super loud, so difficult to have a conversation. The lines to are incredibly long!

I have mixed emotions on Vertigo Lounge. On the one side — its in a great location with a great outdoor space and plenty of comfy couches inside. Plus my cocktail was pretty tasty. Butttt we had a hard time getting into the space, even with a reservation, so my first impressions of the place weren’t great. And at one point the crowd that came in was super young, I’m not an old fart by any means, but I couldn’t handle the vibe once the place filled up with all those kiddies. That cocktail I mentioned before — was called the Golddigger. Tequila + ginger + pineapple makes for a fine combination but couldn’t make my time at Vertigo any better than just ok.

The open air patio and dance lounge on the 16th floor of Dana Hotel are pretty nice. It has a separate side entrance and elevator. The drink is $ 15 a glass but without any cover charge. Most of the tables are reserved for group. The dance floor is small but opened to a big lounging area with floor to ceiling window. You can’t talk much when the music is blaring loud. You can get in line to hang out in the patio. I don’t think it is fair to have smokers destroy the beautiful place. Go smoke somewhere else.

This place is definitely not my style. I’m getting that out of the way right up front because it may taint my ability to be objective. I’ll try. So, not my choice scene at all but I was coerced into going with a friend of mine. I was reminded why this is not my scene within a few minutes of walking in the door. First, yes, the view is nice. Congratulations. Views are not hard to find in Chicago, so it’s somewhat amusing that so many people are stricken by the view. It’s a nice view in a city known for nice views. The staff was pleasant, which they absolutely should be for the price you pay to drink in this place. What turns me off about a place like this is the crowd. Not every last one of them, but enough of them to tank an evening for me. Too many people there are just a little too impressed with themselves, you know? Too many people there think they’re rolling a little higher — or a lot higher — than they’re really rolling. I’m not impressed by your skinny suit, your bottle of Patron, your iPhone, or by you rocking those sunglasses at night. Sorry. Next.
