I see why they closed!!! I went here before they closed last year. I ordered hashbrowns and they were out. I then ordered orange juice… They had to go across the street to walgreens to buy more orange juice!!! And they had a sign stating that they accept credit cards but they did not. I was advised to use the chase atm across the street lol. Gone and forgotten:)

I would like to add to my review that the Wolf’s Den has by far the best Chilaquiles in Chicago.

So… I love living in Wicky except for the serious lack of great breakfast places… Sure there are a couple good ones, but you have to put up with the MTV wanna-b hip kids, and pay a million bucks… I was mulling this over at about 6am today, when the Wolf’s Den caught my eye… It’s right by the Walgreen’s on Milwaukee… Walking in, the Chorizo Omelette jumped right out at me, yum! :-) They add cinnamon to their coffee which was a nice surprise. Oh crap, gotta go… Anyways…Food is really good, hearty portions, pleasant friendly staff… Breakfast was $ 15 with tip which was a bit of bummer… I’d go back…

Ok my first Unilocal and hoped it could have been better… just moved into the hood and heard decent things about this place. Went in around 10 on a tues morning, the only one in there so I belly up to the bar(diner style). Two people were working a cook and a waitress. The cook was great offered me something to drink while I waited for the waitress which was on the phone. Ordered a coffee once she was done, as she’s going to get it the phone rings, she busts a u turn and answers it, a ten minute to go later my coffee has arrived. While she’s on the to-go order the cook takes my food order. I got the bacon, ham, sausage skillet, wanted to sub turkey sausage so I didn’t feel like a complete fatty but they were out. No big deal, good for me. Food comes(five to eight minutes after coffee) its pretty much just an omelete with a side of hash browns. Thought skillet was something different? Omelete was ok at best got better as I drowned it which cholula. The hash really undercooked barely warm in the middle. So I’m thinking next time ill go for lunch, seems more like a taco, burrito place anyways. The name kind of threw me.

I love going places where you don’t have to wait to sit down. You will not wait at Wolf’s Den, but it’s not because the food isn’t good(it’s probably just that it has a weird name and is just one of those places that is easy to miss). The food is actually pretty excellent. Had the chorizo scramble which was great. Also ordered the chips and guacamole. The chips came right out of the fryer and were on point. Highly recommended.

Ordering a veggie taco is risky business. But Wolf’s Den gave me one(actually two) of the best: grilled mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, spinach, green peppers, and zucchini! Plus it was super relaxed and very friendly. It is great to know you can still get a foil-wrapped, steaming, delicious taco on Milwaukee Avenue.

Stopped in here for a mid-afternoon taco snack after seeing that the this diner was also a taqueria(for some reason I never noticed that before). It’s definitely not the most traditional taqueria I’ve ever been to, especially since the«pork» tacos didn’t tell you what kind of pork they were(I later inquired and turned out to be Al Pastor). I did order the«Pork» taco along with a Chorizo taco with cilantro and onions on both. They also came with a decent verde sauce(not hot). The al pastor was decent, but not the best I’ve ever had(I didn’t see a spit, so I don’t know how fresh it was or how they first cooked it) but it did have cooked onions mixed in with the raw onions, so it had a decent flavor. The Chorizo was much better, flavorful but not really spicy. While the tortillas were nicely warmed, each taco only came with one tortilla(not the usual two), so the shells pretty much fell apart after a couple minutes. Anyway, at $ 2 a pop, the tacos are reasonably priced and not a bad snack if you are in the neighborhood…

some mornings you just want a breakfast burrito in a neighborhood-y place with mismatched silverware and handwritten menus. the wolf’s den is by no means a culinary destination, but eggs in tortillas and hashbrowns they do quite well. sit down at one of the kitchen tables and get yourself some breakfast — the food isn’t groundbreaking but it will fill you up and make you happy!
