This is a great wine bar! I went here with two friends last night and really enjoyed the experience. It was a bit earlier, so we could hear each other due to being some of the only ones there, but I imagine it fills up later. Still, it is nice to see a place near Wrigley that doesn’t feature loud, blaring TVs — or any, for that matter ;) Let’s get the bad out of the way now — I got a glass of sparkling wine and it tasted just… bad. Like, bottom of the bottle and old. I felt awful complaining, but the waiter was so nice and said he’d open a new bottle for me! The next glass was pretty good. My friends REALLY liked their red wine flights, and it seemed like the flights featured a variety of tastes and profiles. I tried some and would have to agree. The waiter was so incredibly kind and helpful. It is clear to me that the people who work here are genuinely nice and not just faking kindness for tips — they really appreciate their customers, and the environment seemed welcoming. I’ll have to stop by again for a wine flight the next time I’m in Boystown!

What a cool spot. My sister, a friend and I stopped in yesterday and had the great pleasure of meeting Tad. Not only was his personality awesome he was so knowledgable and took a lot of time explaining the differences in Scotch and Whiskey. We will be back for sure.

I dig the Twisted Vine; its a great place to get your Jazz on. Solid cocktails, an extensive whiskey/rye selection, lots of wine to choose from, and some small bites. We like to stop by to see Swang, the Gypsy Jazz band, which is currently playing there monthly-ish. They have live music Wednesday through Saturday. Its very casual and the service is quite friendly.

I’ve been here twice and I love the vibe. It’s candle lit and intimate without feeling at all stuffy. The piano is a plus. It’s always nice to go somewhere with a good wine selection by the glass. The half price bottles on Tuesdays are great, too. I would highly recommend it to wine lovers or anyone who wants to see if they might be one.

I am in love with this place. A very chill and serene place to have a conversation and a glass(or two) of wine. Modern, candlelit, and even a piano performance of two. It’s a great way to start the night, or end the day. LOVEIT.

The European wine flight here is delicious. I loved the Spanish red that I tried. The Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand was beautiful as well. Ambiance here is great as well. They had a Christmas tree set up by the front window with some armchairs, which created a really cozy feel. We had a very attentive server – but then again, it wasn’t that busy on a Sunday night. Still appreciated though!

I can’t believe this place has been right around the corner from me and I had never been in before last weekend! It’s just perfection! We went with another couple on a Saturday night. It wasn’t too crowded, the wine list was excellent, the staff exceptional, and the piano player was such a fantastic touch. It’s hard to find places in this area quiet enough to have a group conversation without shouting at each other on the weekend — we will not only go back, we plan to be regulars!

Cute little place with wine and whiskeys. Our adorable server was also the bartender and made really yummy Old Fashions. Live music when we were there was really nice as well.

I’m always on the lookout for a new wine bar and I enjoyed my experience at Twisted Vine for the most part. I will say, on more of a negative note, that this place is just weirdy laid out. The entire time I was sitting there, I was looking around trying to put my finger on what seemed off about this place. I guess my conclusion was that this place doesn’t seem like the space should be used as a bar. It seemed like a pop up bar, that doesn’t actually belong or live there. The tables and chairs seem out of place and there are no couches or lounging area like you might find at other wine bars. The bar itself seemed to not fit into the space as well. I got the vibe that this place was a converted hair salon or something else and it was trying to be a wine bar. Good service, though and nice wines. Our server made good recommendations and was accommodating and when I told him I really didn’t like my glass of wine, and was interested in trying something else. I noticed they had a small food/bar bites menu, but I didn’t partake this time.

I love the wines and the ambiance quite a bit! If you are looking for a chill night out and you find yourself between boys town and wrigleville… rest assured, you can go to this place and have a great time! The music and service are always great. I’ll definitely be coming back to this spot, but I might pass on the food, there’s not a lot of options. Which simply means you should come to this wine bar for the wine(although they make a mean cocktail, too).

A friendly, relaxed and informed staff. If Cheers was set in a wine bar, this would be it. The atmosphere is exactly what I want in a wine bar– kinda dark, no drunk a-holes, and on weekends live piano music. I live a block away and don’t go as often as I should but with half bottle Tuesday’s and some fantastic cocktails I might have to come back more often. The food is good… not spectacular but good.

If you’re looking for a place with very overpriced drinks(this statement is especially applicable to their whiskey, but also to their cocktails and wine), then Twisted Vine is the place for you! While you throw your money away, you can enjoy very slow service and a long, long wait for your food. During this time, you can take in the nice décor and lighting and realize that one of the chandeliers is different from the others.

Informed staff lively entertainment. Light food and fantastic whisky and wine selection. Show time singers were of a high standard. I really enjoyed the place and I felt comfortable.

I really liked this place. Good drinks, cool atmosphere, and always good entertainment. A really cool place to have a relaxing quality drink. The staff was very friendly and both times I have been there they expertly guided me to a wine or cocktail that would fit my taste. And that Jesus is a little piece of heaven right here on Earth.

Mostly I really like the Twisted Vine. The wine and whiskey menus are great, the service is good, and it’s within stumbling distance of my place. The problem? The seating. It’s billed as a lounge and clearly going for that cozy atmosphere, but the bar height tables and chairs don’t work with that vibe. The first chair I sat in actually slowed lowered while I was just sitting there. I decided to just go with it and see how far I’d sink, but when my chin was at the table I gave up and switched it with another chair. Can we have some couches and regular lounge chairs to sit in? Maybe something I can curl up in so I’ll be comfortable enough to order more drinks? I’m sure I’ll go back more than a few times, I think we all know I can’t pass up a good whiskey and bourbon selection. I won’t be too happy about it though. Next time I’ll be sure to try some of the food. PS, there’s a chair near the piano that needs to some attention. Since no one asked if I needed help when I was dragging chairs around I’m not sure if anyone noticed it’s broken.

Wonderful place! The drinks, the atmosphere, the bartenders, all of it. Melissa is the best around though I will say I’ve yet to interact with anyone here that wasn’t a sheer pleasure to encounter. They have an awesome selection of wines & bourbons/whiskeys. Even if you don’t know what you want, they’ll help steer you in the right direction, get you a taste or two to be sure you’re getting something you want & then get you all set up with an awesome drink!

A jewel on Halsted! I was walking north on Halsted towards Addison and stumbled upon the Twisted Vine! They had a vocalist that night, and that was just part of the great experience! The owner has added a personal touch to everything! He has chocolate flights from a small specialty shop from where he grew up, and restored photos, on the walls, from his family. The décor is like a lounge, without the attitude. The servers presented me with an awesome array of cocktails, as well as TONS of whiskey options as well as affordable to fine wines. I will definitely go back! I feel like I could go by myself because the crowd was fun to be around, but I think I will also bring a group of friends, because it has different seating options and the volume is still conducive to conversation.(good date place!) Check it out!

I really LOVED this place! Havent found a really good, chic, not extremely expenssive, tasting, cocktails bar. Will come very often! And the bartenders are super nice.

This review is long over due! I first stopped by Twisted Vine after seeing a poster to see Andy Masters play guitar. However, I was running late and missed him. Arriving late, I stepped in and spoke to Melissa who encouraged me to stay yet I decided to go home. Fast forward another month, I stopped in on a whim. Melissa was there again and this has since become my new favorite hangout! There is a lot that this little place has going for it and I am about to tell you all about it. If you enjoy wine at all then you really will enjoy this venue. The wine list is extensive with reds, whites, roses, from all over the world. There are typical expensive bottles, as well as some reasonably priced hidden gems. Melissa and crew are always ready to chat you up and never take that snobby approach you may find at wine bars. Sure, she will ask a few questions so as to give you some suggestions. The selections won’t break the bank either. Sold by the glass or bottle — there really is something for everyone. Then there is the whiskey. Now, until I sat down I had NOCLUE they did whiskey. And I sure do LOVE me some whiskey. I think I have had the most fun hanging out here at night and trying whiskeys. YUM! They have a world-wide selection(Scotch, Japanese, American). You can get the pours between 1.5 — 2 — 3 oz which can save you some money if you know what you want to drink. These guys seem equally comfortable chatting about whiskey as they do wine. To top it all off they offer a nice«nibble» menu of either olives(my fave), nuts, cheeses, and charcuterie! All reasonably priced and perfect for one or two! I have certainly taken some work there on a slow night, had bottle, some nibbles, and left feeling very relaxed! Don’t forget the chocolates! :) Flights: If you want to let your adventurous side roam free, then try either the wine or whiskey flights. They offer several choices for both! A great way to try some thing new! Some times I really do not know what I want! This a great guide. Yes, they do have some craft beer(not a lot so don’t go in thinking you can grab a Bud Light), and they make some good cocktails(I have fallen for the Kentucky Mule(Thanks Sig!), so there really is something for everyone. Add to all this some live music, whether it be guitar, piano or cabaret and you(and maybe even you friends) are set for the night. And if you see me there say HI!
