Great sandwiches if you are looking for a quick bite.

Awful service. I have stopped on my way to work probably 6 times in the past year for a takeout bagel or muffin. Everytime I walk out saying never again. Staff is not really friendly, never say thanks or smile. Today I ordered a everything bagel toasted with cream cheese. Get to work, it literally maybe has a tablespoon of cream cheese on it and perhaps it passed over a toaster, but spent anytime in the toaster. Sorry Goddess of yuck, we are done.

Love this place, even if the delivery takes forever and a day… sometimes 2 days. My go-to’s here are the Turkey Twist, something about the combo of caramelized onions and that tasty mayo. Yum, can’t go wrong with this sandwich. I also really like the veggie chopped salad and the green goddess dressing, its the best! This place also has a great selection of pre-cooked stuff for all the people that don’t like to cook. It’s one of my go-to’s when I want something more then a plain ol sandwich.

Great little city grocer. High quality EVERYTHING. Excellent customer service with employees not too hard on the eyes(a saying my father uses). The deli stuff looked amazing. I wanted to taste everything. Due to time limitations because we were on the Chicago Chocolate tour, I didn’t get the time I would have liked to shop a little more, but I did find some Fig Jam to serve with some fancy cheese I’m going to pick up at Whole Foods and enjoy with some wine and girlfriends one of these days. I also grabbed two(over priced) chocolate bars but with the discount, it covered the tax and a little more, so that helped. They have premade food to-go, cake slices, full service deli, all kinds of salads and everything they offer is top notch quality which equals expensive, but for the most part, it’s probably worth it. Next time we’re in the area, I’m for sure stopping in and shopping a bit. I want to look a little closer to what they have here. This is the kind of place I would come for lunch if I worked in the city! Love it! ps. they loose a star from me because the samples of the cookies they gave us on the chocolate tour were stale and because they are quite a bit overpriced on several items.

Opened by the caterer for the Rolling Stones, this little grocer knows how it’s done. I wanted to have a bit of everything behind the display case. Their food looks extremely fresh and scrumptious. If I lived around the block I would probably come every day to pick up lunch or dinner. Desserts –Triple Chocolate Chip Giant Cookie: it’s pretty sweet and the dough isn’t completely cooked(yes!) but I think it needs to be warm so that the three types of chocolate ooze out. So I would only want to buy this if it were warm because eating it cold just doesn’t cut it for me. –Peanut Butter Chocolate Bar: wow! Absolutely amazing! Just the right amount of peanut butter. And who doesn’t like a brownie-esque bar with a cookie base. Divine! LOVEIT! FINALVERDICT: Yep I’ll be back to explore a bit more.

great customer service! great food! my husband and I decided on a Saturday night in instead of going out to dinner. we discovered that Goddess and Grocer offered delivery for their delicious sounding sandwiches, so we decided to give it a try. the ordering process via Unilocal was easy and convenient and before we knew it the order arrived. my husband and I LOVED our sandwiches and we devoured them quicker than id like to admit. we both ordered hot sandwiches– him, the Smoked Brisket and the Magic Mushroom for me. we also ordered 2 giant chocolate cupcakes for dessert that were fantastic as well. rich and delicious and not overly sweet. overall– it was a great experience and we will certainly be repeat customers. plus, the added bonus to great food– they deliver too!

I stopped in for a quick bite before a yoga class nearby. I live in the neighborhood and had always been curious about this place, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to try it out. I ordered the Wicker Park panini with fresh mozzarella, pesto, spinach and tomatoes. The ingredients were all fresh and plentiful. The bread was the perfect combination of crispy and soft. I love bread, but was pleased that the bread didn’t overwhelm the ingredients. All in all I was happy with my meal, although for eight dollars, I think the sandwich could have come with a little something on the side. I wish I had had time to look around a little more as everyone around me had salads that looked pretty good. I would stop in again, but I don’t think it’s anything I’d go out of my way for.

This is the healthiest, yet tastiest food ever! The fresh spinach salad with cranberries, and pecan — deeeeeelicious! The fresh vegan wraps — completely amazing. If you are a meat eater they serve delicious wraps with all different types of meat that is fresh without being loaded with preservatives it has that crisp taste that you don’t come across too often. This vitamin packed deliciousness is worth all of the yummy fuss that it takes to find this under-rate gem in Chicago! :) I love this place!

Really good for lunch! I dropped by after shopping at 900 N Michigan and got an Izze and the crazy mushroom panini. The panini is pretty big, stuffed with huge whole pieces of portobello mushroom, spinach, roasted tomato and 3 large slices of brie. YUM. I can’t wait to come back when it gets cold and try all their soups!!! They have a rotating soup selection and I got too excited reading the menu!

Deluxe deli with a classy dining area if you choose to eat-in. I stopped for lunch early to beat the noon lunch rush. There was virtually no wait to place my order once I decided what I wanted. I created my own awesomeness of ingredients in a spinach wrap. While they fixed my lunch, I grabbed a seat in the dining area. The dining area vibe was more like a wine bar, very sophisticated for a deli. My wrap was very filling, fresh and delicious. Nonetheless, I think it’s a little over hyped; my total meal came to just over $ 12. They offer unique food combinations, high quality items and use hot button words like Amish, vegan and organic in their menu. The variety they offer is geared towards the urban yuppie who doesn’t think twice about ordering a $ 4 Kombucha. I speak yuppie at times but WTF is that?

okay okay I hate to say it but every time I go in this place it’s a shitshow. you never know where to order or what to do, and with all the people swarming around the registers it’s almost like a free for all! the last few times I’ve been in here there seemed to be a cat fight with the whole I «in line» first card. who’s supposed to know where the line is?! no numbers, no tickets, nothing! BUT the staff is super friendly and deals with all of us, customers, crap with a smile. plus the sandwich’s are delicious! it’s worth the wait for me, but I give props to the staff who deal with everything seeming so unorganized and always serve us with a smile.

Usually like this place for a quick bite, but after a bad experience using their catering service, I would not recommend them. My friends were hosting a welcome home party for a service member of their family and invited ~30 people over. When we went to pick up our order at the Gold Coast location 60 mins before guests were to arrive, we were told the order was never placed. After lots of panic, we showed an invoice of our order and then were told the order was placed for pick up at the Elston location. We hemmed and hawed as we specifically requested the Gold Coast for pick up, but were told to drive to the Elston location. Once at the elston location, we were told they didn’t have our order and that we needed to go BACK to the Gold Coast location to get it. After we expressed our frustration that we had just come from the Gold coast and they didn’t have our order, someone confirmed that it actually WAS at the gold coast. We finally ended up getting our catering order, but it was an hour late, meaning we had ~30 hungry guests grumbling at the party for at least an extra hour as we tried to heat things up. Greatly disappointed by Goddess and Grocer.

In theory, this place should be wonderful. Some ready to eat goods, some made to order food. However, there is no organization with the staff whatsoever. There were no signs of which«line» to go to for the salad, checking out food from the stands, or to order. Since there were three registers, and two people(one at each), my friend and I opted to wait in line on the one at the right. She wanted a soup and salad; I wanted a soup and half sandwich. After about 15 minutes in the line at the right, she ordered the salad, and was practically bossed to go to the left line to get her soup. and pay. I on the other hand was then ordered to go to the left line. as they dont«take cash» on the one in the right. We waited for 10 minutes in the left line, her to pay. and me to give my order. Halfway through the line, another lady on the right side of the store ordered half the customers to go over to take orders… wtf? It was now almost 30 minutes later and I hadn’t even ordered?.. yes, my annoyance level was rising. I opted to stay in the left line, as I had already stood through lines and lines. I finally got to the register. The girl at the register’s expression and demeanor. SO unpleasant. haha, damn, I’m just trying to give you money! I finally ordered, ate quickly, and left. …yeap, unless the store is empty, I’m never coming back.

There are certain foods or food combinations you never think you’ll accept. Hell, I spent 25 years hating tomatoes, and although I’m sure I’ll always hate olives, Goddess and Grocer converted me to the sweet and savory combination that is chicken salad with grapes. Look, I’m sure Goddess and Grocer has other things going for it, but their chicken salad is my favorite one ever. EVER. There’s something so simple about it and yet, it makes me so happy. I just grab it from the cooler, ask for a sesame seed bagel and go at it. Feel free to also grab a red velvet cupcake and have yourself a great time.

If we learned anything from last years Charlie Sheen phenomenon(besides the fact that he’s a raging drug addict) it’s that two Goddesses are better than one. Definitely true in the case of this deli. Those babies are small in size but pretty to look at and even better to pound.(The sandwiches that is) I had the California Dreamin’ and the Beef Stampede. Both pretty standard ingredients, but well put together in terms of fixen to meat to condiment ratio. A little pricey for what you’re getting but I’d certainly say worth it. They’ve also got tons of other ready made options for a quick dinner so if you’re a bachelor like me and only cook when you’re too hung over to leave the house it’s a perfect option for almost any meal. Seating is limited so taking it to go is what you should know… BRO!

OK… I placed an order for my salon 5÷26… We ordered about $ 60 worth of food. After about an hour, I get a phone call from Goddess saying that they forgot to include the 15% gratuity to my order… For what? Any delivery order OVER $ 50 gets 15% gratuity. Excuse me? for what? I’m not asking you to stay and set up my table and pour dressing and croutons on my salad. In fact that encourages me to order less! Or should we split the order in two to meet the $ 50 or less. YESOFCOURSEWEWILLTIP… WHYAREYOUENFORCING A 15% Gratuity… Completely Ridiculous. Long story short it was waived! But I still can’t believe they called me an hour later just to add it… um of course not.

Aside from the very random stream of fire trucks and the staff power washing the sidewalks, this place is a wonderful spot to grab breakfast on a Friday morning. I was here with my girlfriend for a lowkey catch up session and they had a a vast menu that offered a lot. — Coffee is good. — Nice selection of bottled beverages that included Honest Tea products. — Delish and tasty oatmeal. — Beautiful parfaits. This spot is great and excellent people watching. The staff was power washing the sidewalks, but after asking politely to give us 30 minutes to chat, he stopped what he was doing and let us have our brunch in peace. I would come back again, just because they were so accommodating.
