This place have THE best falooda. We just go there for falooda and halwa poori. The samosas are amazing too. Their other stuff was not up to the mark. Whenever you are at Devon, you must try their samosas and falooda.

Good tasting sweets. We enjoyed everything we ordered. I would return to try out more stuff off the menu. It can get busy at times so give yourself good 15 minutes to wait on the line before you are served but the wait is well worth.

Get the samosas literally the best I’ve had outside of Paksitan and I’m far from the only one. This includes Pakistani restaurants in London, Boston, New York, and Chicago(I move alot). Its amazing and I also thoroughly enjoy the beef puff which is basically a pakistani pasty. Go give it a shot. Its an extremley basic looking place so dont expect too much in terms of décor, it has a cafeteria feel to it. If you want the best samosa go here, even the people working at other restaurants on Devon Ave said that lol.

Food is pretty meh, sweets and samosas are good. My biggest problem is the service. I’ve been going there for a few years now, and I keep having problem with the employees assuming the little white girl knows nothing about what she’s ordering. I routinely pick up light flour gulab jamun for my roommate, and almost every time, the employees will grab the dark flour ones even after I’ve specified light, try to talk me into buying more than I asked for, or deliberately add syrup to the container(you pay by weight). Even when I’ve called them out on this, they’ll usually just shrug and screw my order up anyway. Go to Annapurna if you can, or King Sweets. Tahoora isn’t really worth the hassle.

Update: as another reviewer mentioned, be careful with how they weigh and price your sweets. They tend to over charge, and if you catch their error they make up excuses and try to push a higher price. We ordered a bunch of sweets priced at $ 7.50 per pound. They charged almost $ 8 per pound. When we asked, they said it’s because it’s an assortment! Makes no sense. We argued and they said this time we’ll let it go… Nice try buddy, if item x is 7.50 per pound and item y is also $ 7.50 per pound and both go into the same box, you bump it to $ 8??? Doesn’t Illinois have laws about this stuff?!

The assorted gift boxes make a good, simple present. i’d give this item 4 – 5 stars. I usually come here to buy an assorted gift box when i visit my parents back home in the east coast. They seem to like it, so i’ll continue getting it. My family’s favorite are the halwa’s(habshi, akhrot, etc.), but no gift box is visually complete without a pink coconut chum chum so i always add those in with additional eye popping color pieces like gulab jamun and barfi. My husband and I called in orders for the halwa/puri breakfast for carryout one Saturday and it was ok– 3 stars for this item. Comes with everything you think of with a halwa-puri breakfast– puri, halwa, cholay(garbanzo bean stew), potato, achar, and yogurt. Satisfied the craving, but nothing out of the ordinary. cholay(which are usually my favorite part) were pretty liquidy, almost watered down, which made it really difficult to pick up any with the puri. I think i may prefer the cholay and aloo from the halwa puri breakfast at nearby Pak Sweets more actually. Then there’s the ras malai which was a huge disappointment. For this item, 1 star. I’ve had a whole lotta ras malai’s in my life, and this wasn’t right. Based on other reviews, it seems my experience with the ras malai is an anamoly and may they were having a bad day? Randomly was craving some good ol ras malai this past weekend, so made a trip just to get 2 pieces since that’s where i get the mithai assortment from. The ricotta ball piece would have been fine i think but the milk-syrup was really really really weird. it was beyond thick and the flavor was just off. it seemed as though it was thickened with(too much) corn starch or flour, contributing to the off consistency and taste. also note, that there are NO nuts in Tahoora’s version, though i don’t mind either way. The customer service varies drastically depending on which guy ends up taking your order. Honestly(and sadly), though, i don’t expect much from a desi establishment based on experiences i’ve had overall at pakistani/indian restaurants. The sitting area is one of the cleaner ones on Devon, though I typically always do take out to enjoy at home/gift items to friends/family.

Legendary desi sweets shop with savory items too(like samosas and chaat), Love the falooda and other«drinks», and the musallah in the basement for prayers. I advise stopping in and picking up a box of sweets to go(or gift).

Dunno abt food but customer service sux. The guy’s name is javed and order number was 295 @ 415p 11082015(hope the owner reads it). No eye contact no smile and then while giving the receipt he threw the pen on the table. Can u imagine? He shud b removed from the counter and sent at the back. OK so the food is just okay… Bland mostly. Tried their beef burger n roll paratha. So it’s just okay

This place has one of the best Indian sweets in the block. Around the area, you’ll see bakeries offering Indian dessert and sweets. My husband and I checked out a few places within the vicinity for Indian sweets, but Tanoora is by far the best place to cub your sweet tooth. And the best part, you’ll get a lot for your hard earned money… good food and cheap, what can go wrong with that?

Tahoora Sweets was not what everyone had made it out to be. We left disappointed. We ordered numerous items from the menu, and the best or most flavorful was the mango lassi. The sweets were decent but definitly not the best. The raas mali was good but lacked true depth, and didnt have enough richness. The samosa chaat was, gross. The yogurt tasted as though it had gone sour, and the chutneys were off. I wish I could say more about the food but I dont see myself going back. I wasn’t quite sure which language to speak to the gentlemen at the register in. He seemed to not speak English which was fine so I spoke Urdu, which he also seemed to not speak, so it felt ridiculously awkward. — Just had to throw that in there because afterwards it was slighlty funny. Here’s to better sweets, and samosa chaat Unilocalers! xx

I had never heard of halwa puri before a friend brought me here for breakfast today, and I’m so glad to have been introduced. Tahoora is largely a sweets shop, but on weekends they offer halwa puri for $ 4.50: a mostly-savory platter of chole(chickpeas), aloo(potatoes), raita, achar(pickle), halwa, and 3 puri. I loved it(the halwa was particularly good and not too sweet) and marveled that you can get such a great breakfast for so little money. We came a little after 10am and there was no line.

So far, probably the best place for Indian and Pakistani sweets and pastry. The sweets are all flavorful and wonderfully displayed. The place is very clean and they wash their glass door and keep the place up. The staff is very friendly too. The interior seems awful big and spacious. Maybe they should try selling some additional retail products to fill up the space? Wonderful find on Devon.

Came back to Chicago after many years and tried out Tahoora. We ordered the pistachio and mango falooda. Both were very rich and delicious. What turned me off to ever returning is the customer service. The restaurant was full and they started turning off the lights to kick people out. I’ve never seen that happen in my life. One employee started turning chairs upside down at tables where customers we sitting. Apparently they don’t care for their customers. They close at 10pm so it would be smart if they locked the doors at 9pm since they are so concerned for people to leave exactly at 10pm. If I come back to Devon Ave again, I won’t be having dessert at Tahoora.

I had two different kinds of halwas. Both of them were amazeballs. The Falooda was OKAY. I had the mango flavored Falooda. Maybe I should have had the Pista flavor. It wasn’t too pricey either. The halwas here ROCK. Try them, they give out free samples too! Yum

This review is based solely on the ice cream that I had. Oh how I wish that we had dropped by their bakery! If their baked goods and sweets were half as good as their ice cream, then I’d still be a happy man! Tried two of their ice cream flavors at a party that we attended. Both the Pista Kulfi and the Mango Kulfi were absolutely delicious!!! All I can say is that they were both so creamy and yummy!!! Creamy Yummyness!!! I am so tempted to order from their website. Maybe one of these days I will because I see that they are available for shipping. I just do not see them surviving the trip to my hometown in frozen condition though. I’ll just have to wait til we return to Chicago in order to fulfill my craving for their ice cream!

Best Samosa’s on Devon! Their beef/aloo samosa costs only 70 cents and they taste like they should cost double that price! This place use to be so busy a decade ago(the line would go out the door). I don’t know what happened and why this place fell off, but if you’re coming here for a kulfi or samosa, you’ll love it. I like their bun kabob’s, and they have plenty of other options. The halwa puri is a big hit for all the aunties/uncles, but when I took a bite out of that, I think my cholesterol levels doubled. It isn’t for me.

Tahoora is well known all across the country for its delicious Indian/Pakistani sweets and snacks. I’m not a Chicago resident, so of course when I visited the Chicago area, I was super excited to stop at Tahoora. However, the place didn’t meet my expectations. The wait lines aren’t that long, about 10 – 15 minutes during a busy time. We ordered desserts, since we had just eaten at a restaurant on Devon. The staff was helpful and friendly when we ordered. The mango falooda took 5 minutes to make.(We also ordered methai which was fresh.) The portion sizes are acceptable and the taste average. I’ve tasted different faloodas in my life, but these weren’t as delicious as I expected them to be. Tahoora has a spacious sitting area, but it’s hard to find a place to sit during rush hours. The staff quickly cleans up tables as people leave, preparing them for the next crowd. The service is good at Tahoora, the food just average. It’s a nice place to stop by after dining at Devon, but it’s not exceptionally different than any other methai/dessert place.

This review is based solely on the pastry I had. The pastries LOOK really cute and adorable but they don’t taste good at all. The frosting tasted really oily and weird and the cake tasted old. I can’t account for their other sweets though so that’s why I’m giving them the third star. I’ve also heard that their tea is really good.

We went to Tahooras today to get a few snacks. Today was not as busy as it usually is during the day and it was streaming hot inside the restaurant. We tried the samosa chaat and I believe chaat papri. Let me be the first to say that the flavors of the chaat were incredible. I have tried chaat in so many places recently and have not been able to get that perfect tangy flavor until I came here! Overall? I will definitely be back here again to try more shacks but I was very satisfied with the quality of food I had today.

It was Sunday morning so I’m sure you can guess what I was doing at this establishment. It was time for Halwa Puri! I’ve had this for breakfast at a different restaurant on Devon a while back. But since Tahoora is much larger and so hyped up, I had high expectations for their Halwa Puri. My big bro and I each got an order of halwa puri with chai. It was only 4.25 per person which is an awesome deal. The line and entire place was packed so we had to wait a good amount of time before the food was done. But after we got the food, I was ready to chow down. After just one bite of the potatoes, I was impressed. It was so delicious. I loved the chickpeas, the yogurt, pickled veggie, and the sweet dish. The bread was very tasty and paired nicely with the entrée. It was definitely oily but that’s just part of the dish haha. I was very full afterwards. The chai is a nice way to wash down all the grease consumed lol. The service is like that of a fast paced sit down restaurant. You order what you want, get your food, and sit down. Not much interaction with the workers so no comment on that. Overall, average service with very high rating on the halwa puri. It’s my favorite of the few I have tried. The sweet part is my absolute favorite part of the breakfast. I would highly recommend!
