Honestly the best tacos I’ve had in Chicago. If you want real authentic tacos, this is what you’re looking for. They disappeared sometime in January 2015 and never came back. I hope the owners see these reviews and open up shop again!

These are the bombest tacos I’ve ever had. The pastor and pollo are the best. Onion and cilantro only with extra green sauce… WTF. Apparently that green sauce is just avocado and jalapeño but I’ve tried to make it myself and it was nothing like it. I would live off of these tacos if I could. If they would bottle that green sauce I would put it on everything.

The taco truck comforts me. The carne asada is out of this world and the friendly staff allow me to practice my Spanish. Only one problem. THETACOTRUCKHASNTBEENONASHLANDFORMONTHS, PLEASECOMEBACK

The best. Authentic, late night, cheap, delicious. Need I say more? This is a destination. My Mom, who lives in Northern Wisconsin, knows of this food truck and makes it a point to go when in town…

There’s something about being alone in the evening that puts me in the mood for tacos. And there’s nothing that can fill that void like 4 carnitas tacos from El Picapiedra. Their green sauce is incomparable to any other taco condiment i’ve ever had and I love them for it.

These guys park right outside of my apartment every weekend. They know how to make a taco. Their english is a bit rough, so if you know Spanish use that. Get the al pastor! Best tacos I’ve had in the city.

This taco truck is no joke. Asada and pastor have been excellent the two times I’ve caught this magic taco bus sitting near Ashland and Division in front of a latin dance club. Not the absolute best I’ve had in either category, but close, so I’m rounding their 4.5 up to a 5. It seems that it’s always out on weekend nights around this spot. Limited ingredients/options, but who gives a crap with tacos like these. Word of warning– their salsa is spicey as all get-out. Delicious. But be careful.

I went to this taco truck a couple weekends ago while visiting Chicago and I’ve been craving it ever since. They don’t park on Ashland until sometime after 9:00 on Friday and Saturday night. The taco prices are a little steep(about $ 2.50 a taco) but I’d pay the price every chance I get because it was so darn good! I had the al pastor tacos. All of the ingredients were delicious. The al pastor was pefectly served on corn tortillas with onion and cilantro. I love the spicy avocado sauce that comes on the side. Just squeeze a little lime over the top and it’s heaven in your mouth!

Do you think your work week is long? Yes? Well, it’s about to get twice as long when you find out Tacos El Picapiedra is only parked on Ashland on the weekends. These are the finest tacos in the land! Extremely well prepared with the best hot sauce known to man. All the varieties(steak /pork /tongue /pork again) are super flavorful and are paired best with the traditional onion/cilantro combo. I actively avoid dinner on Friday/Saturday nights to save room for their tacos. This sort of fanaticism is common in the neighborhood as TEP may be the best Mexican food option in the greater Wicker Park area. Seek out the Flintstones because these prehistoric characters known a thing or two about tacos. Jabba Dabba Doo!
