I’ll start this review by saying that their food is generally pretty good. So far I have tried four or five of the different tacos which are basically fancy nachos and have enjoyed most of them. I generally take my food to go because it can be really hot inside their small storefront and I don’t like to sweat into my lunch. The people there are generally pretty nice although I will say the reason this review is in higher is because I’ve noticed the service slipping a bit the last few visits. In particular I stopped in at 11:45 for lunch on a Saturday only to have the store be wide open music playing and not a soul in sight to service. I should have just turned around and walked out because as I walked in another guy was leaving he said that he had been in there for 5 minutes and no one was running the counter but I wanted my talk went to bed. I actually called out 5 or 6 times and waited over 10 minutes for somebody to finally notice that I was there. Get a bell or something. The person who eventually came out and noticed me was politely sorry about my wait but didn’t seem all that surprised. The employee actually admitted to hearing my calls but apparently it never occurred to her that it was a customer trying to get ahold of an employee. I would really expect someone to be more apologetic after wasting 10 minutes of my time especially during the lunch hour. It’s not like it was an odd time of day. Get your service together and then I’ll up my stars!

This place is really cool! So different from your typical food joints. The food was really good we got the Big Jim Reeves which is the original taco in a bag has Chorizo country gravy, tomatillo sour cream, pepper jack, cilantro and green onions. Tasted really good. My favorite one was the second one we got which is The Mac Daddy basically a cheese burger in a bag. Tasted exactly like cheese burger. It has Mertz Beer Cheese Sauce, Roasted mushrooms, Caramelized onions, spicy Pablo crumble, roasted red tomato and crispy bow tie pasta topping. So so good! If you have a sweet tooth you have to and I mean HAVETO try there Nutella donuts they make the donuts fresh and omg I can’t even begin to describe how amazing they were. It’s a must try if you go. The fountain drinks was pretty cool how they had them all named differently. They also have unicorn tears water bottle which is awesome lol Highly recommended this place

Every possible thing you could want in a taco, in a bag. Had the Big Jim, which was spicy and super satisfying. Great selection of soda. A perfect spot for killer takeout.

I stopped in for a small, quick bite of food but ended up staying and being really happy that I did. The service was excellent. Kevin took the time to give me some samples when he saw that I was hesitant about ordering. They were really quick getting me my food. The ambiance of the place is awesome. It’s quirky and funny without even having to try that hard so I already felt like being there was a good time before I even had any food. Then I tried the food. So good. They do some great creative food paring. I’m an adventurous eater so this was completely my style. I want more.

What. In. The. Fuck. I really can’t even fathom TIAB being good drunk food and damn near everything tastes good when you’re drunk. I was indeed sober when I visited and much thanks cause I probably would’ve made the mistake of returning if I was three sheets. I’m Latino so I much rather get real Tacos… In A Tortilla. You should too. I did really enjoy the bottled Orange Soda but I’m not fancy so I can enjoy a Sunkist, Fanta, or Crush just the same. I hope Guy Fieri never makes it here for Triple D.

The only sad thing about this place is, I’m not from Chicago and can’t eat here weekly! Came with a few friends and tried a few different things on the menu and they all were amazing, my favorite one was The Norburto! Great service! You must try this spot!

People need to get their behinds into here! Not your usual Mexican-fare foods found in this establishment, but we were WOWed by the variety of textures and flavor combos. The kitchen is doing fun innovative foods in a comic book setting. The creativity rings throughout in both the cooking and the décor. My faves: Big Jim Reeves, Norberto, Reverse Coney. The desserts are soooooooo good. Super great value for such a great experience. You need to go. Now.

This place is so so so good. I wish they had one on the West Coast. Who knew that cranberries could pair so well with nachos??? I was fortunate enough to get a taste of a limited edition taco in a bag; the Bacon Parmajon. The established refused my request to sell me a gallon of the pancetta bolognese… they said that they sold out. I’ll have to come back! Most innovative fast food experience I’ve had!

4.5 stars for what it is. I had a groupon and was expecting this to be a bit of a gimmick… But it was delicious! I had the cheeseburger nacho and it was all the fatty deep fried goodness I could have hoped for. The nutella doughnuts were underwhelming(not much nutella flavor — tasted more like chocolate sauce), but the horchata ones were fantastic. It’s certainly not high class food, but it’s very good cheat-on-my-diet-for-the-month grub.

Mediocre food in a bag lol. I had a groupon so that made it better. We were able to get 2 tacos in a bag 2 drinks and a bag of donuts for a $ 15 groupon. The tacos in a bag are ok but the donuts are really good. I would just go for the donuts.

Taco In A Bag! aka The walking taco gourmet! Genius! I had placed an order twice through Postmates to have it delivered to my job because I was craving something for Cinco De Mayo. While this is nowhere close to Mexican food, this peaked my interest. I tried the Angry Bird and it was delicious! The chicken was tender and well-shredded and everything melded together perfectly! The next day, I ordered the South by Southwest salad in a Bag and it so good! That took care of my workday lunch! This is so far my latest restaurant addiction!

Unique concept with awesome vibes. Would recommend trying their cheeseburger choice. Went there on a weekend and was able to order immediately. Plenty of seating available and street parking was not an issue

I was pretty excited to come to this place based on the concept and reviews on Unilocal but it was actually disappointing. The menu is short I think it would be awesome if you can customize your own bag rather then going with the themed bags. I had the angry bird it was a huge piece of chicken that needed to be cut and was really dry I didn’t even bother eating a quarter of it. The fountain pop was really flat the only reason I gave it 2 stars was cuz of the crazy crane machine and the donuts other then that I wouldn’t recommend this over hyped place.

Sunday night adventure with my friend. We had a Groupon for«awkward first date» which consisted of 2 tacos in a bag, 2 drinks, and a dessert in a bag. The décor is pretty neat and I’m in love with the seats. The pop machine had clever names. I had my eye on «the Angry Bird.» Verde Braised chicken, it was delicious. The garlic sour cream was a little over powering. I was surprised it filled me up. I was a little disappointed they didn’t encourage to mix it. I ended up eating most of the meat and a bunch of tortilla chips on the bottom. The horchata donuts are BOMB! Made to order. Can’t wait to go back for more.

Was up North and stumbled upon this place, Was intrigued plus being from out West almost every corner store is putting cheese in bag now. Once inside I realized they were doing something different, it just looks FUN, from the vast amount of trophies & championship belts everywhere. To the coke bottle top bar stools, the magic unicorn tears brand water & the folks behind the counter looked to enjoy what they doing. I had the The Big Jim Reeves«The original taco in a bag»(Chorizo country gravy, tomatillo sour cream, pepper jack, cilantro, and green onions.) Filling, hearty and the homemade chips where on point ate there but see how you can grab a bag and keep it moving

Two stars for the donuts and interesting atmosphere. We stopped in for a Friday night dinner and u had been looked forward to trying it. Sadly, I was disappointed. Service was friendly, but the room was sort of dingy and dirty — which I never like for a restaurant. Taco selections were interesting but we were really disappointed. If you’re looking for a taco, this actually isn’t one. It’s more of a nacho in a bag situation. I was disappointed in mine(with buffalo chicken) was the tortilla chips were quite greasy and they were mostly what was in the bag… hardly any chicken or other items. There was lots of sauce, but seemed to be missing a good enough quantity of other items. I tried the ‘original’ one which had the same issues. Donuts were good, but not enough to bring me back. I couldn’t finish more than half of the taco… Very disappointing.

Went here for the first time with a Groupon and no idea of what to expect. I was seriously and pleasantly surprised! I got the Norberto and and Cuban. Both were really delicious! Great flavors melding together, and surprisingly super easy to eat. I love how everything is layered so you can just dig your fork in there and get every flavor in every bite! Donuts came with the Groupon. Ok so, I’m doing a no sugar thing on most days, so I was hesitant about trying them. I got the key lime and they just about rocked my world! Key lime sauce poured over hot, deep fried balls of pleasure, then topped with graham crackers and served with whipped cream on the side. Hooooollly mollllley! My description does them no justice whatsoever. You just need to try them to fully understand the scope of delight. I love that they are open super late as well! Cool spot and nice people as well.

Hey, Taco In A Bag… you’re amazing. You are the exact right combination of tacos and convenience that I need in my life. I’ll admit, I’ve never tried anything here but the Angry Bird… and it is DELICIOUS. The shredded chicken, lime, cilantro, sour cream… you can’t go wrong with the flavor combination. The chips add a delicious crunch to the taco and, if you’re so inclined, you can walk right out the door and eat on-the-go. Others say the different tacos are equally as delicious, but I’ve found what I like and I’m sticking to it. The Angry Bird is the way to go. Also, get the Key Lime Donuts in a Bag… seriously so delicious with sauce and yumminess that I almost can’t stand it. Seriously. The mini donuts have a nice, crunchy outside with a super warm, soft inside and the sauce is poured generously over each donut in the bag so each one is coated with goodness. Amazingly delicious. I love you, TIAB. Carry on. PS: they’re open late. I’m never in this area after a night of drinking but I imagine this is some of THEBEST inebriation food ever.

I had heard about this place ever since it opened and always wanted to go. I was finally in the neighborhood one day and checked it out with my friend. The parking out front is pay-to-park, but we didn’t check out what was down the side streets. I ordered The Big Jim Reeves bag and was surprised how fast it was prepared. They were handing it to me by the time I picked out a drink! Speaking of drinks, they have a lot of off-the-wall sodas, such as Leninade Simple Soviet Style Soda. The bag tasted good, but wasn’t quite as flavorful as I was hoping. There were a lot of chips and not enough meat in my opinion. Maybe I should have ordered a more adventurous flavor, though. I also got the corn on a cob dipped in chipotle mayo, which was delicious!
