We lived in Bangkok for quite some time and used to get dinner nearly everyday from different street carts/vendors or tiny mom and pop restaurants. Everything we ordered took me back. I almost cried — it was SOGOOD. Even the the way the chicken was cut and prepared is the same. I can’t wait to go back week after week — also, it’s BYOB. Aka. Soon to become our local dig. The only difference — most dishes seem prepared for white people in terms of spice. So for those who like it HOT, you may wish to request they turn up the heat ;)

My wife and I eat here frequently and not once have we ordered something we didn’t like. Excellent food all around and one of the few places you can get a truly spicy dish.

No really surprise. The clam is very over cooker. The interesting dish on the menu all not available.

Great service, amazing food! I ordered a lot of little things like I usually do at thai restaurants… The cucumber salad, crab rangoon and the tom kah soup. I was pleasantly surprised! Best Thai restaurant I’ve found thus far in Chicago.

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon with a friend for a quick lunch. Location is extremely convenient, it’s located next to the Sheridan Red Line. I had the pad Thai omelette and my friend had the Lad Nar. Both were delicious. The pad Thai was slightly too sweet but still packed with great flavor and I loved that it was served in an egg. Nothing to scream home about but if you’re craving some Thai food this definitely hits the spot and beats a lot of the other Thai restaurants in the area.

I pass this place everyday while walking home from work and never thought to stop in as it always seems completely empty. However, I learned this is because the majority of customers do takeout so I decided to give it a shot. I stopped in for lunch and had the Chicken Panang Curry. The sauce was amazing and there were a lot of veggies to accompany the rice and chicken(beware of the spicy peppers though). The only think I wasn’t blown away by was the chicken itself, which was just okay. However, for only $ 9 the portion was huge and the meal was a bargain. I paired my meal which with a Thai iced tea, which was delicious and refreshing. I felt slightly awkward sitting in the restaurant itself though, as it was completely empty except for me. As the menu is huge, I’ll definitely be stopping by in the future to get some takeout on my way home from work.

So good and so cheap! Well I think their pork is awesome and the food is quite spicy. I would rate them 4.2 but I want to raise the current rating. Well you can’t get better for this price.

Wasn’t sure if I ordered from a Bib Gourmand winner or Wendy’s, but all my first experience with Tac Quick left me wondering was: WHERESTHEBEEF??? There was some good in our order but also lots of bad. First — the appetizers. The crab Rangoon were delicious, but the other two not so much. The fried tofu was tough and chewy(tho the peanut dipping sauce was good, it couldn’t cover up the texture) and the gyoza arrived cold. The entrees were again disappointing — my massaman beef was super flavorful, a great curry sauce amongst vegetables, but lacked the second part of its name. I received four, counted them, four slices of beef. And, while listed as a spicy dish, it contained no kick what so ever. I can’t remember the last time I ordered Thai and didn’t have leftovers, but that was the case here… not because it was so tasty but the dish was so small! The tofu fried rice was a large dish, and unfortunately there was plenty leftover… it was bland and uninspiring and again lacked in the protein… where’s the tofu? They have a secret menu, which we did not try. Maybe that’s where my beef is?

This is solely based on the food and to be quite honest, it is quite upsetting to have to give this review. Boat noodles and yen ta fo were both way, way too sweet. Is this for the American pallette? Why aren’t we allowed to ask for the food how we want it with some sauces and peppers like normally would happen? Shouldn’t that be standard since this restaurant is supposed to serve authentic Thai cuisine? Som tum was the same way. We asked for it more sour as that is how my mom likes it and we were told if the flavors are changed it won’t taste right… Well, when you go to Thailand or lots of other Thai places you can specify how spicy, sour, sweet your papaya salad is. I’m thinking they may not have Thai natives cooking in the back and whoever is cooking just tosses a premade lime, sugar, etc. mixture over the papaya before serving. Lard Nar was also really sweet. I guarantee that the taste is not authentic at all. What happened to this restaurant? I guess we will not be going here anymore. You would think that if you order in Thai and ask for things a certain way that you would be properly served. The food is not good for Thai tastes. Not authentic and disappointing.

Huge menu that’s a bit more original than the seemingly hundred other cookie cutter Thai places in Chicago. I can see moving this place to a 5 after eating here more and working my way through a bigger part of this huge menu. My delivery order arrived 20 minutes early so that’s always a good start. I started with dumplings which were a bit small and nothing great, I’d skip these in the future. The neua dad deaw was amazing, make sure you order this secret appetizer. The panang curry was very good, but I’d probably not order again next time looking to do something more adventurous. The kai tod isn’t really an entrée but basically fried chicken wings. They are very good but there isn’t a ton of chicken and was a little to crunchy. Potential is the key work here. I had some outstanding bites and with the ordering fine tuning I can see this being a go to delivery for me.

We did takeout of the peanut curry, basil chicken, spring rolls, and crab Rangoon. For 2 people it was $ 40 and we have enough for another meal. It was ready in 15 min. Food was delicious! Fast, reasonable priced, and you got lots of food!

The food was good, the portion size way too less atleast the panag, pad thai and yellow curry. We called the restaurant to inform and they were very rude and unapologetic and said if you mix with rice its an entrée, really?

Over inflated Unilocal rating. When traveling, let have come to rely on Unilocal to find awesome meals. This time however I was deceived. I got the green curry and pad Thai and both dishes were subpar. The rice was way too soggy. They rice and curry were served in the same bowl not separated. Flavor was OK. I make better green curry than this. The pad Thai was no better. The noodles were al dente and the chicken was dry and lacked flavor what so ever. Regardless we were starving and we scarfed down the food but my rating is mehhh.

Not bad, but I’ve had better. One star came off for the lack of air conditioning. They had one fan and luckily we got a table right in front of it. They have two menus, one is their regular while the other is a «secret» menu which comes with the first so I don’t really get that. Again, the food wasn’t bad but I wound up giving my leftovers to a bum. I got the sweet and sour chicken, which is primarily a vegetable dish with just a little chicken added. The sauce was syrupy, and they wrapped my leftovers in a Styrofoam box which promptly spilled the sauce everywhere. If you live nearby, and need some Thai, definitely check it out, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

We’ve eaten here at least 15 times, so this review is long overdue. We originally tried Tac Quick because it is in the neighborhood and was recommended to us by neighbors, but we go back all the time because the food and service are consistently exceptional. My husband makes it a point to order something different almost every time we go, and he has never had a meal that he didn’t like. I tend to revisit my old favorites(pad woon sen and khao soy among others) and everything is great. Definitely try the Thai beef jerky — one of the most surprising and delicious items on the menu. There is so much variety on the menu, but that doesn’t seem to affect the quality. We’ve done take-out and dine-in and the service is efficient and reliable each time. Love this place and will be back soon!

I love Thai food and this place was really good. I ordered Pad Thai Kung Sod Haw Khai from the secret menu. It’s basically shrimp pad thai folded into an omelet. What makes it different is that it’s made with glass noodles. The portion is huge! I could only eat half. I really liked the twist on the traditional pad thai and would gladly order it again. Tac Quick is also BYOB — they charge a fee of $ 1/person. I recommend coming here for affordable, delicious Thai food.

Service: 5 stars Food: –fried pork, fried rice: 5 stars –moo ping(pork barbecue skewers): 5 stars –Fried pork with basil leaves(spicy — has jalapeño): 4 stars. Taste is good but a bit too salt and it doesn’t have much basil… And this is a pretty objective observation, not like I’m a basil-nut. Has tons of pork, which is reat, just need a tad bit more basil then it’s be perfect!!! I will have to try custard next time they have it available. TIP: finish food while it’s fresh — doesn’t taste good as left overs.

I was apprehensive coming here at first, because every time I passed Tac Quick on my way home from the Sheridan red line during the week, it was always nearly empty. I found out this is because the majority of people order takeout from here during the week, and it gets packed during the weekends. Saw this place on Check Please, and my friends recommended it. Amazing green curry and pad thai, also their BBQ pork skewers are making me drool as I type this. BYOB so that’s always a plus. Saw a girl at another table order a Thai iced tea, looked delicious and very pretty, will definitely order next time. VERY reasonably priced, my friend and I were shocked at how affordable our meal was when we received the bill. Friendly staff, and you can score opentable points here.

I came to this place two years ago for a quick dinner and just HAD to come back this vacation time. I even texted my friend who had introduced me to Tac Quick about what dishes to order. The service isn’t extraordinary — very reflective of most Asian establishments but the food made up for the lack of service. I ordered the Khao Soi which is a rich spicy curry soup topped with pickled mustard, cabbage, onions, a lime and egg noodles. My mouth is watering as I describe this dish! The flavors all came together in this rich sweet, sour and spicy taste. My friend ordered the Yen Ta Fo which is the pink soup with seafood and silky noodles. She loved the flavors as well. I’m so glad I stopped by this time around and I am definitely looking forward to the next time I come back!
