I ordered take-out last weekend when it was one of those«I can’t feel my face» winter nights in Chicago. It was the closest thing to my boyfriend’s apartment, and I didn’t want to wait for a delivery. I ordered the pad thai with tofu — pretty standard for a Thai place, right? The tofu looked a little different, sort of like a steamed egg patty, but the taste was okay. For pad thai, it definitely left me wanting more. The taste was just rather bland, and it lacked a lot of color. I also inquired over the phone if they had potstickers/gyoza, and the first person I spoke to didn’t even know what that was! I was bewildered. Not a huge deal, but just a little funny.

Great food! I tried this place on a recommendation and was extremely satisfied. They are a great place to dine in(BYOB) or order from. Few places can pull of both so well. Their Pad Thai is ridiculously good along with the sweet and sour chicken. I can’t recommend this place enough, everyone I have brought here has gone back. Do yourself the favor and try this place out!

Close to some of the best pad thai in the city! The only place I like better is Vora, but its basically double the price and a hike. In-On Thai is fast, delish, and their prices are AWESOME. Such a solid go-to for take-out on this block.

Excellent thai food. One of my favorite thai places in chicago(on par with Rainbow thai and better than pretty much anything else). You do have to know what to order. Their salads are their best dishes on the menu. The green bean salad is the best thing I’ve eaten in months. The spicy crispy fish is amazing. So is the Spicy Fish with Young Pepper and the Penang Curry.

Delicious Thai food. The marinated pork spare ribs had a great tangy, sweet, and savory marinade on it. It was really meaty too so just a tad bit dry but nothing too disappointing. Also had the basil chicken which was standard but still very tasty. The best dish was the pan fried fish with red curry sauce. It was spicy! But it had a delicious flavor to it and reminded me of a dish I had when I was in Thailand. The service was really nice. The décor was a bit strange for a Thai place but it didn’t really bother me because the food was so good! I would definitely go back and get the fried frish dish again.

Loved the spicy crispy fish on the specials menu! Unlike other Thai places, they really give you spice when you ask for it! Only wish things came a little more composed, perhaps with a vegetable?

I’ve ordered Thai from a few local places, and In-On-Thai has been the best by far. My girlfriend and I order from here regularly and the food is always delicious! The people who work there are friendly and we never have to wait very long.

So so so authentic. I just had yet another fantastic dinner. This is the best Thai food in Chicago. My favorite is the crispy red curry fish with fried basil. Must try. BYOB. And liquor store is next door.

Very good Thai restaurant. Delivery took a little longer than expected, but whatever. Be warned that spicy means spicy, and extra spicy is pretty spicy! We got the Chicken Satay, which was pretty decent. The peanut sauce was really good, I tried to lather each bite with as much of the sauce as possible. It seemed like they used ground chicken to cook it, but I enjoyed it. We also got the Red Curry(chicken), which was also pretty good. You could def. taste the coconut in there, was a great curry to go against the satay. Mixed with the rice and it was pretty good. I got the Beef Pad See Ew, which I loved. The noodles were amazing and they served a good amt of beef with it. It was spicy since I ordered it extra spicy, and I would definitely recommend getting it again. For the price, it’s a bit of a steal. I’d say the price + flavor is what notches this up from a 4 to a 5. Lastly got the Sweet & Sour Chicken. Didn’t care for this at all… was sort of the dish that neither my gf nor I wanted to touch. But it was whatever, the vegetables were good! For the price, this place is amazing. I’ll come back for sure.

I haven’t written a review in a while, but In-On gets major love from me and deserves online praise! They have some of the best Thai food I’ve tried. Their shrimp and glass noodle, BBQ fried rice, and fish curry are my favorites. **OMG the fish curry**, is not to be missed. It’s full of that savory/sweet umami blend. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve converted into fish curry fans. It’s seriously delicious. With new development coming in to this strip on Broadway, this location may not be open much longer. Don’t miss out on your chance to try this amazing restaurant before they move!

I tend to be a harsh critic of US Thai food restaurants, having lived in Thailand for 10 years and being married to a Thai. The biggest problem in Chicago is with Thai restaurants making the food way too sweet. I don’t know why they think the western palate is limited to sweet foods, perhaps one too many jerks that freaked out about a few chilis, but if you can’t handle some herbs and spices you have no business going to a Thai restaurant to begin with. So, it’s always nice when I make a new discovery and find somewhere with interesting dishes I love, ‘home’ cooked the traditional way, and presented just as beautifully as when I lived in Thailand. The Owners here are also very nice, and though the décor isn’t fancy, it is comfortable and unpretentious. Rather then going into extreme details about the food I will post the pictures and you tell me if it looks mouth watering or not. Tip: if you want real Thai flavors, it is always best to tell them you want the real Thai flavors and can eat spicy. Tip 2: be sure to try their ‘special menu’ which has a lot of awesome Thai dishes you probably won’t find elsewhere in Chicago!

In-on Thai serves wonderful fresh Thai food that’s simply tasty. The dishes seem more authentic than those served at other Thai restaurants, though that’s just a guess as I’ve never been to Thailand. The service is friendly and attentive and the restaurant’s 1950s motif is pretty cool. As for the food, the massaman curry chicken was delicious with a curry sauce that’s much lighter than that at other restaurants. The poached fish and cashew chicken were both great as well. The menu changes often, so I’d make sure to check back often for new items.

We shared a bowl of Panang curry and it was fantastic. I thought I liked my Panang curry creamy and thick, but nope, this brothy stuff is the bomb. It looked hotter than heck with lots of delicious red pepper flakes floating around in the reddish/orange liquid but the heat level was perfect for me — it just barely made my nose run. Our server was friendly and all smiled up. It should be too far for us to go back again but humpty-dumpty it is — we’ll be back together.

This is the perfect casual Thai place. Not crowded, the staff is extremely friend and the ambiance is really relaxed. We started with the crispy egg roll which was delicious, not super greasy or anything. We moved on to ginger chicken and pad Thai — I’m not one for pad Thai usually but there was something about this dish that I loved. The ginger chicken was fantastic — tons of ginger! I couldn’t get enough. Would definitely go back. Very happy I found this place!(And its BYOB)

I absolutely love this place. I live upstairs and see their staff on a regular basis, and they’re great. The place is family-owned, and it’s clear they care about their food and their customers. Been here several times, mostly for takeout, but the restaurant is cute and the décor is lovely. I’ve only seen it packed a few times since they opened, but I don’t think anyone should be discouraged by that. Their food is great. Definitely a must-try. I will be back.

When we first walked in, I was afraid we had picked the wrong place to eat Thai food. It was completely dead on a Saturday night at 7pm. My 3 friends and I were the only ones in the restaurant. I was totally wrong! It ended up completely filling out within the half an hour, and the food was GREAT! First of all, the restaurant itself is very cozy. It’s covered in wood paneling, and it’s decorated like a mini Cracker Barrel(not as cheesy, though). The service was decent throughout the night as well. Onto the food — Our table brought our own drinks(BYOB, no fee!). I had to drink my sangria out of a regular drinking glass, but if you want to be fancy then I guess don’t eat here. We started out with some appetizers-chicken satay, crispy triangles, and sesame chicken wings. The crispy triangles were okay, but kind of disappointing. There was not enough filling and they were very thin. The sesame chicken wings came out hot and crispy. Very good. The best, by far, was the chicken satay. I will say that it was the best chicken satay I have ever had. It was so good-definitely try it if you go.
For entrees we ordered the special BBQ Pork Pad Thai, the«secret» BBQ Pork Fried Rice, the Beef Panang Curry, and another noodle dish(don’t remember the exact one). All of the food came out hot and delicious. I will say that the Panang Curry was not like other Panang curries I have had. The sauce was actually salty and not sweet. The curry portion was also pretty small. The noodle dishes were huge and very satisfying. I would stick to dishes other than the curry dishes if you come here-there are far too many other Thai restaurants in the city with superior curry. Overall, it was a great place to sit and hang out with friends. The food and service was great and I wouldn’t be opposed to coming here again when I visit the city.

In On Thai has become my favorite Thai food in the city. When I saw it was moving in, I remember thinking that I hoped the food was good because it was so close to where I lived that I would want to go there all the time out of pure laziness. And it’s true, I do order and sit and dine here all the time. But it’s not only out of laziness, this is some of the best Thai food I’ve had. I can’t speak to authenticity, I’ve never been to Thailand, but I know what fresh ingredients taste like and what a well balanced, well seasoned dish tastes like, and that’s what I get here. My favorite is the basil dish, I get it with chicken, it’s got a great amount of heat and the veggies are never overcooked. I also like the way takeout is packaged here. When I order the beef noodle soup, I get a container of noodles and a container of the soup broth with the beef to pour over it. This makes it way less messy and easier for me to put in the exact ratio I want. To top it all off, the place is just as cheap as every other fast food Thai place, just as quick, and the staff are amazingly nice(every person I’ve met). I hope they stick around for a long time.

I came in for the lunch special and ordered the chicken pad thai. I was starving so I also ordered the pork satay appetizer. The pork satay came with 4 pork skewers, dipping sauce and a cucmber salad. The pork was tender and went well with the dipping sauce. The dipping sauce tastes like a peanut sauce with some other spices, tasty regardless. The cucumber salad was served in a sweet vinegar with small slices of red onion and a few sprigs of cilantro. The salad cut the richness of the pork satay. $ 6 and change, I would order again. The chicken pad thai was pretty good. It had scallions, scrambled egg, chicken, tofu, bean sprouts, crumbled peanuts, cilantro garnish and lime wedge. I liked it because it wasn’t overly sweet like I’ve had at other places. $ 5.95 and it was a fairly large portion. The inside is clean and cozy. Traditional table and chair setups with some bench seating for larger groups. I like the wide plank wood that cover the walls and the top 40 radio station that was on. Ambiance is extremely laid back, really good food at reasonable prices. I shall return. **4/30/15** The last two times I’ve ordered takeout hasn’t been the greatest. Tonight the most recent occasion, I ordered the Pad Kee-Mao. I couldn’t help but notice the abundance of oil in the bottom of the takeout container. As a result the dish was transformed from a slightly light noodle dish to a heavy sopping oily mess. I don’t understand why you need so much oil to cook with. I’ll be taking a break from them.
