Went here on 4÷29÷16 with a couple of friends. Super small venue but size didn’t matter because the music was good! My advice is to get there early because it gets packed quickly. Overall, I had a good time and would go back.

Bad experience ever. We went to sub 51 on 4÷16÷16 open the bottle service that night. Server name Francesc. Give me the wrong bill to sign. Don’t give me clarification what it was and the correct amount. And before we leave I ask for my credit card and ID back they give me another bill to sign she said for release credit card. The first bill was$ 390.95 the second one was $ 426 I thought it was total amount I thought it was already include tip 20% so I sign. Wrong I check my credit card statement the following day they charge me both bill. I called back to sub 51 that wasn’t my bill that they have me sigh I asked sever that night she didn’t give me a recipe the girl that talked to me in the phone was so rude she convince me that I have to pay both bill. I was shocked we just order one bottle of Jack what on earth we have to pay almost $ 900 the girl on the phone said we have you sign over here that you order the bottle of Grey Goose. No way. We didn’t order or get that at all. They didn’t refund for us. I have to go back to sub 51 and talk to manager his name is Jaoquin. He the only one that actually speak to us really nice and investigate what happened that night and did a refund for us. But still I have to pay a tip for that server for bottle of Grey Goose that we didn’t order horrible experience ever I been have bottle service everywhere I never ever experienced thing like this. Watch out guys. Make sure if you go there they don’t sneak somebody else bill that you have to pay.

Got kicked out of our table when two dudes bought something that made it worth their while. The place is full of women. Not the place to go if you want to meet men. Ladies… Avoid! They clearly will cater to the highest bidder or anyone with a penis. No thanks.

Wouldn’t accept my ID because I wasn’t American. The manager told me to get lost until I got a state ID and insulted me when I accused him of racist undertones.

I’ve never had to say this before, but this club waters down their bottles. I ordered rounds of Jack Daniels and everyone in the party noticed how watery the shots tasted. The bartender«opened» a bottle in front of us and poured a taste and all 5 of us agreed that it was watered down as well. So unfortunate.

Reminded me so much of New York. Small space, decently arranged venue, good dance music, lots of tables and sparklers even early into the night. Would definitely recommend this place for an intimate clubbing night but not for a night where you want to go big.

Showed up Labor Day weekend only took tables and turned everyone away until someone finally said they would pay the $ 1000 minimum. Take that how you want but if it was worth the grand they would of pre sold those tables.

At first glance, this establishment seems to be a beacon of class and fun. However, don’t be fooled; it provides a sub-par experience. Here is why: After being told exactly where to stand(behind ropes) so that we could order at the upstairs bar, we were served. .. eventually. Thinking the experience would improve if we moved to the downstairs«dance club,» we went on our way. Unfortunately, as so often happens in an over crowded space, a glass was knocked out of our hand, which led to us being refused admission(by an over zealous bouncer) unless we «bought a table» which generally costs. .. in the amount of too much. There are too many bars in Chicago. Don’t go to this racket, you can do better.

I came to this place after we were offered drink vouchers while standing in line elsewhere. Free drinks? My girlfriends and I couldn’t pass on the offer. Well, no amount of free drinks could convince me to return. We were literally forcefully pushed out of the way to make room at a table for bottle service. I understand that tables need to be reserved for the higher paying customers, agree with it, even. Slap a reserved sign in the table if that’s your policy though. Or here’s another suggestion, explain in advance that customers can use tables unless bottle service customers drop in. If you can’t manage that, at least politely explain to your guests that the table is needed for someone else. We’d have understood. It is never appropriate to shove your customers out of the way. I felt violated and left with a vow to never return.

it’s great for drinks and dancing. i came here with a gf and boy, and we had a $ 95 minimum on a saturday evening. not terrible but not great. though we spent it in like no time. coming from sf, the guy-girl ratio is amazinggg here, but it evened out by thte end of the night(ie, there were SOMANYGIRLS at the beginning of the evening.) music is great. crowd is friendly. would be totes down to come again.

The night I went, there was a DJ who was happy to play mediocre top 40 rap from the early to mid 2000s. After a few drinks it didn’t matter, except that there was no place to dance. The space is cramped in that there were just tables with seating areas and aisles for walking. The dance area is the aisles. I went for a friend’s birthday party otherwise I would not have chosen to go there for fun. For ambiance I would’ve selected«wannabe upscale» but that wasn’t a choice.

I must’ve been drunk already because looking back, I checked into Hub51 instead of Sub51! oh well! same area but this place is under hub51 the restaurant. My cousins and I came here after we Paris Studio. Brian, the same guy from Paris Studio hooked us up so we got in really quickly! This atmosphere is more my type! Lots of younger people with music i actually know! It was a little crowded but what do you expect! Drinks were average priced. bought 3 shots of fireball for $ 27. Stayed here for a bit, danced a little, got hit on my creepy guys, and then called it a night!

If there were half stars, I’d give this place 2.5 stars. But due to my last experience here I’m not rounding up, I’m rounding down. Sub 51 is the downstairs nightclub from Hub 51. On Friday and Saturday nights its generally packed with clubbers who frequent that area. It’s an ideal for bacherlorette parties and birthdays basically because you almost must have to get bottle service. What makes this place WACK is it’s pretentious atmosphere. The bouncers are always trying to make a little money on the side and generally don’t let men in the club unless they are buying a bottle or accompanied by a bunch of women. Even then you are generally met with some resistance. You would think with the crap they make you go through to get into this club it would be something special. WRONG. WRONG. Club is the size of a basement and its pitch dark in there. Nothing but couch seating that’s reserved for tables. So if you don’t get table service, you’re going to be cramped up by the back bar. The good thing is the club is usually filled with nothing but women and it stays open late. But drinks are high and sometimes its just too crowded to move around and have fun. And forget trying to hold a convo because the music is always loud.

Sub 51 tries to be a super classy club. It’s the downstairs to Hub 51 which has a cool, young professional feel, but downstairs, they may be trying a little too hard. The lighting is the standard clubby dark setting with neon lights. There’s one bar at the opposite end of the room from the entrance, and if it’s full, it’s really hard and time consuming to get a drink. You first have to fight your way to the bar, and then you have to work to catch the attention of the one or two bartenders trying to serve 20 people at once. Plus, it seems as if they really want to push bottle service, but I don’t think you really get that much of a benefit by doing that since the place is so small. Thankfully, the music is fun, and if you’re looking to have a fun night of dancing, you can easily accomplish this here. Be prepared for it to get rowdy on the weekends, but as long as you’re looking for a clubby night filled with dancing and lots of bodies, this is the spot.

one word: NO! This place was all hyped up at the rope and when you enter, you wonder WHY they were making ppl wait to get in! The music was so bad and I suspect everyone in there was recommended by a hotel concierge or metromix! Total tourist trap. All the girls looked cornfed. Oof-dah. If I had to, I’d rather hang out at the bar upstairs. Not a fan. I won’t be back.

Celebrated my 27th birthday here. My only real gripe: It is a small space with too many people. The reserved table areas need to be roped or sectioned off. It got really annoying really quickly because you’re paying for a designated area but it keeps getting invaded and interrupted by annoying drunks trying to get to the main bar. Otherwise, the service was great! The music was awesome. Sweet, small space. Good for private parties… not so much as a random bar or lounge to stop into. That’s probably what the Hub 51(upstairs) is better for.

A few friends and I scored free bottle service here after the party coordinator lost our reservation there for a bachlorette party couple months back. The service was great and our supply of mixers was never low. Around 11:30 we were asked to move from our table to squeeze into the corner of the club. I don’t think that’s how VIP guests are typically treated, but I wasn’t about to complain about our free bottle. Space is a bit small. Music was decent. I appreciated the party coordinator for going above and beyond to make up for the reservation fiasco. Most likely won’t be back.

Review for 05÷27÷12 I’m not afraid to say I swung from the exposed piping like an orangutan at Sub 51; I’ll upload the pics as proof! Loved this spot! It’s very intimate(small), but when it gets packed and the club-goers get boozy, the party starts. Sub was on our hit list for Memorial Day weekend, and hit it we did! We began the night with dinner at the restaurant Hub 51 before hitting the lounge. The party was definitely premature when we arrived at 10:30PM; there was a bachelorette party and one other group that had already been seated at their table. We were given one free drink coupon from the manager, which was a nice touch; give people a reason to stay at your club! Besides, who wouldn’t want 7 gorgeous women in ALL shades of brown at your establishment?! We got our drinks and sipped while dancing to the tunes from the DJ. As it got closer to 11 and we didn’t see the party getting started, we chatted about migrating to a nearby club. I assumed the hostess waiting on us overheard our convo, and told the Manager we were about to leave. By some mind-blowing act of the liquor gods, we were given complimentary bottle service for the evening. GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLL! What a game-changer that was! I later looked up their bottle service menu, and their cheapest bottle of vodka on the menu was $ 235. We all appreciated the token and truly got the party started! I LOVE my girls! We provide the perfect balance of beauty and brains! The beauty worked in our favor in my opinion. The manager’s strategy worked! The night definitely got turnt up from that point! Lots of laughs, pics, and dancing like fools commenced! We’ll definitely be back! This place is cozy and it may be difficult to enjoy yourself without a table. I can’t speak to the entry of this spot since we arrived so early. Great establishment, great service, and attractive crowd! Definitely worth a visit!

Please try getting into another club instead! This place is great but it’s not worth the hassle to get inside unless you have a table or you with a bunch of your girlfriends(unless your a guy who just wants to pay a lot of money to be around 90% of women) or if you come from another place and get lucky to get inside after 11PM. Before 11PM– If you’re a girl you can get in as long as you look super cute and are friendly and patient and with a bunch of girls. But you will be sitting with a lot of women that are coming in with table reservations. By mid night it will start getting crowded up. You will crowd yourself in a small lobby(bathrooms are also painfully located right outside this club) when you are waiting in line. Honestly, i would never do my bachelorette/girls night out party here. It’s all women and it’s a very tight squeeze. It is a whole lot of fun past midnight but I would rather just go to Moes/English/LaSalle Power Company/Theory to have a chance of getting in, have more space for dancing, and seeing a mixed crowd of people. It may not be as «upscale» but even just getting into Hub to get into Sub, you have to wait in line, so to me it’s not really worth it.

Sub 51 is the little club underneath Hub 51. It really is quite small! We got there at 10 and it was completely empty. The bouncer was nice and let us go chill at our table for awhile as we waited for the person paying for our bottles. The music here is wretched, loud thumping house music, no music with any words on a Saturday night. The place was full of all women for the first couple hours! Bachelorette parties, birthdays or whatever the parties were for — men were sparse. We bought a table and our friend bought 3 bottles at $ 250-$ 350 a pop. My friend and I went upstairs to get a few male friends and they wouldn’t let the guys reenter even though we had a total of 6 people at our table…9 if you add in the guys. Seems a bit ridiculous after giving them a thousand dollars. This was quite annoying and we ended up just hanging upstairs then. One plus about Sub is that they blast fans keeping it nice and cool. Sub 51 thinks it’s far more cool than it is. Pass on ever going back there!
