I can see how someone would see it as unprofessional as outlined in a few of these reviews, but I enjoyed our trip here. We had a big group go in to do some painting, and we had a great time. Here’s what to expect– you are going to be told to do some painting, told not to worry about how it turns out, and to think outside the box a bit. You’re not going to get professional lessons, and depending on your skill, you may very well chose to leave your painting behind. All that said, if you loosen up a bit, its a great way to have fun with some friends.

I brought a date in to do a BYOB pumpkin carving. I figured doing so in public on a first date is better than going to a secluded house with sharp things. The manager, Topher, was incredibly accommodating and really easy going. Fun guy to banter with, and he doesn’t «get all up in your business».
The loft style space is quaint, with art work from the past hung on the walls. I enjoyed seeing what people had done there before our visit. I searched online and this was the only place I found doing a BYOB pumpkin carving event, so I thought that was awesome… A great first date experience.

Topher smoked a bowl in the middle of our class… no trying to cover that one by saying it was incense as he asked if we minded and if we smoked ourselves. Didn’t mind the pot, but in so many other ways he was the biiiiggest douche ever and will not be returning or recommending to others.

Awesome BYOB class. Perfect for a single person or date, I was able to unleash my inner spirit onto a canvas, and was happy with the results. I haven’t painted in years but had a blast doing so. All supplies and wood canvas are included, and the instructor (Topher) always has some good advice to steer you in a better direction. Definitely looking forward to making more art in this studio.

So much fun! BYOB painting classes with enough freedom to really have fun and create a masterpiece (or not). Laid back vibe, instructor was awesome…

I hosted my sisters baby shower here, we had sooooo much fun, the owners are really nice and went out of their way to make sure we had everything set up before she arrived. I had forgotten a table cloth and they even ran out to go grab one for me.(lifesavers !!) the place is not huge but it’s comfy and a really great space.

Came here for a wine and abstract painting class with a friend and had so much fun. We got to paint whatever we wanted and then got feedback and guidance from the person leading the class. Good music, wine, learning and laughs. I’ll definitely be back.

Soul Impressions is not for everyone… but I had an amazing time! I have taken my share of painting classes, from classes at bars to rented spaces/​studios, and by far this has been my favorite. I loved the freedom of it and the no bars approach. You walked it and the vibe is very relaxed; there was wine (it’s BYOB) on the tables and art covered the walls floor to ceiling. Just a note, I saw a comment on the smell, when I was there, aside from paint there were no weird smells. You were given all the materials (paint, brushes, etc.), and a very large piece of wood to paint. I was so used to painting these small canvases at my previous classes, I had to take a couple moments to figure out what I wanted to paint on all that space… thankfully, Topher told me «to stop over thinking it.» And that’s what the next 3+ hours were; not having to think where the paint was going to go and just creating something that ended up being beautiful. You were pretty much on your own, meeting new people and on occasion getting input from the instructor on techniques you can use and suggestions of what to add. It was amazing at the end, seeing how each painting was different and each spoke a little of the personality of the person painting it. We learned so many techniques from using ink, to splatter painting, dripping paint, using sponges and scrappers — well worth the groupon and I am already scheduling to go back.

Not sure why people are so negative — we had a great time! I would come here every weekemd to unwind if I could; it was a very relaxing, therapeutic and enjoyable experience.
Toph was nice enough to let us reschedule to a Saturday after we had planned on a Friday, and when we got there he was very welcoming. It’s a very unstructured environment, so don’t expect a lesson plan and a workbook. You go there to enjoy yourself, drink some wine, be creative and meet some new people.
Part of the experience will be determined by who you end up painting with. If the group is friendly and laid back you’ll have a great time. It is what you make it.

Awesome time tonight painting @ this art studio. Fun times!!! This was our first visit and certainly not our last. They have Wednesday-​Friday nights open studio, and private parties on Saturdays. During the holiday season, Saturdays AND Sundays from 12 – 3 kids can decorate Christmas ornaments for $ 7.
