I love love love this place! And I love the lady that always take my order(some petite brunette, I am so sorry I forgot your name but you’re a sweetheart!). She definitely makes me want to come back and love this place even more! Thanks so much for the great customer service and cupcakes! I’ve tried Molly’s and sprinkles, this place is definitely better than both and I refuse to go back to any other cupcake place!

So happy this place opened in my neighborhood. Great cupcakes and ice cream. Even their packaging is cute. Make sure you get your punch card if you come often!

Love Smallcakes! The ice cream is absolutely delicious and so are the cupcakes. Quite pricey for the size of scoop you get. 2 single scoops &1 sandwich cookie was $ 20. Go early for the biggest selection of cupcakes as they sell out quickly(especially the Red Velvet!) Creative seasonal selections too

Bought 6 cupcakes and all were VERY delicious but the service was poor. I felt very un welcomed and rushed. I hope my next visit will be different. Place and cupcakes are very neat and the packaging is cute.

A friend referred me to this place and had rave reviews. We went there together after a pedicure and I bought six cupcakes off of her recommendation. I was please with the cake. It was actually moist and tasted great. The only problem was that the frosting was not good. It didn’t really have a flavor which was odd. I won’t be back anytime soon.

Literally two blocks from my house, so the punch card comes in handy! Average price for a cupcake, very delicious. The staff has always been super kind and helpful in recommending cupcakes. Would love to try the ice cream! Also, their packaging is hot pink and fun!

Too many good looking options we stood there for about 10minutes just deciding what to get. The chocolate cupcakes looked tastes but we ended up deciding on red velvet ice cream. Too sweet. But perfect for kiddies tastebuds.

The past few weekends I’ve been visiting cupcake places and sampling a cupcake. They’ve all been delicious. However, I think this might be my favorite so far. I ordered a chocoholic cupcake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The cake itself was absolutely great. It was moist, and probably my favorite. The ice cream is also very good. Price range, the cupcakes are about standard. I think the ice cream is slightly overpriced, but I don’t mind for a treat. It pairs well with the cupcake. I’m.surprised they don’t have a cupcake sundae option Maybe look into that? Overall, I really like this place. Next time, I definitely want to try the canoli cupcake. Also, the service was very warm and welcoming. They also have punch cards. Always a nice incentive to get you back in.

They did my wedding at such a short notice! I got cupcakes for giveaways and everyone loved it. I felt terrible for asking for such a specific kind of cupcake but they were more than accommodating to my crazy lol. Definitely recommend for wedding and other events.

The cupcakes are so-so; I can’t say I was particularly impressed. Lots of filing, lots of icing, relatively tasteless, crumbly cake that immediately fell apart as soon as I bit into it. I wanted to like this place, because it would be a perfect place to go after school as a treat, but I can’t recommend it. The store is weirdly laid out, and so small that more than 3 or 4 people fill it up. It’s got one wobbly, sticky table in front that no one seems to even bother to wipe, the one employee is so busy texting that she barely notices customers, and if I’m paying this much for a cupcake, I’d like a clean place to sit and eat it.

Everything was fine. There are just so many better places in Chicago, that I wouldn’t go out of my way for these. The cake was on the dry side and the there wasn’t a lot of flavor besides pure sugar.

Every time I visit this store, their cupcakes blow me away!!! They’re by far the most moist, homemade, tasty cupcakes I’ve had. I’ve been to Sweet Mandy B’s(meh), Magnolia,(meh), Molly’s(meh) and Swirlz(pretty good), but Small Cakes blows them all outta the water! My favorite is the red velvet, coconut, and their red velvet ice cream!!! I always pick up a few cupcakes when it’s someone’s birthday and my friends all LOVE the cupcakes!

Really cute shop, helpful service and yummy treats! I went on a Thursday and had their chocolate strawberry Nutella cupcake to go, and ate a Boston Cream there. The Boston Cream was tasty, but kind of standard. The daily special was the Nutella cupcake and it was really unique with the strawberry cake baked perfectly! The buttercream on top was chocolate with Nutella. It was just the right amount of fruity chocolatey! I really enjoyed the service, as she went through each cupcake and what was in it. She also let us have a sample of the ice cream, which I will definitely get next time! I like that the store is small, it definitely gives the vibe of a neighborhood shop. The color scheme also makes you instantly want to eat sweets. For two cupcakes it was around 7 dollars, so pretty typical. I will definitely come back to try more! Also, why is there not an emoji for cupcakes? It would fit perfectly here.

I wish I could give this place a great review. It would be so nice to have a cupcake store close by but small cakes has failed me on two fronts. 1. Unresponsive customer service. I sent 4 emails asking for ANY nutrition or ingredient information and received nothing. 2. The reason I asked for nutrition information is because the frosting tastes like Betty Crocker super sweet hydrogenated oil low quality frosting. These cupcakes were just way too sweet and artificial tasting. For the cost and being in Chicago, that’s not a good business plan. There are tons of these(it is a chain) around the country so there is no reason they should not have ingredients/nutrition/allergy info of some sort on their website or available upon request.

When I first saw this cupcake shop and looked up the webiste, I was surprised that its a franchise business. Nevertheless, I enjoy cupcakes and wanted to give it a try. Well I am very much impressed. I stopped by this shop twice. Once, a month ago and yesterday. Here’s the 411: Had a coconut cupcake which was amazing! Delicious flavor, moist cake and decadent frosting. Yesterday: Husband had the chocoholic which he loved. My son had the chocolate Hostess looking chocolate cupcake and he loved it too. I had the seasonal pumpkin. It was a moist pumpkin cake with a cream cheese fluffy frosting. All cakes are moist and pack a lot of weight if that makes any sense. Frosting compliments the fluffy moist, not too sweet cupcake. I really enjoyed it. Price point is a bit higher than Sprinkles, Sweet Mandy’s, and similar to Molly’s. Yet the cupcakes are quite delicious. I would consider ordering a cake from Smallcakes due to the moist and delicious flavor these tiny cupcakes carry. Just delicious, you get 5 starts! OHALMOSTFORGOT: get a punch card, purchase 12 cupcakes and your 13th one is free. No pics as I forgot due to the delicious self inflicted cupcake coma I entered. Yum!

I happened to stop in after walking by and seeing the business. I didn’t know they were even in the neighborhood. More advertising would help with that dilemma. I had the caramel chocolate cupcake and it was delicious. The cupcake was moist and fresh. The cupcakes are the perfect size for a sweet craving. Prices are reasonable compared to other cupcake stores.

When the signs went up, I was a skeptic. Who’s going to go in and buy cupcakes. They’re so last year! Yeah. I’m now starting my second punch card. We love the people at the store. We love the cupcakes. Please, may I have more? The one that looks like the classic Hostess cupcake(the white loops across the top) I delicious! The Chocaholic is wonderful.

I am not impress. The presentation is there and looks amazing but the taste was way too overwhelming for me. I had the flavor of the day: cookie dough. The frosting was way too sweet and way too much frosting on top. It took away from the cake itself because there was a center filling that I wasn’t able to enjoy as much. The cupcake was dry too! I didn’t like how it wasn’t as moist like other cupcakes. As much as I wasn’t to love it, I don’t. But I’ll give it another chance with other flavors and hopefully it will wow me on my next visit.

I’ve been waiting for this place to open and since my favorite cupcake place has closed down August 1st, this place opened just in time. Repeats from previous review are confirmed: excellent service peanut butter cupcake is EVERYTHING cute boxes and presentation cupcakes are excellent A few new things to mention: Get yourself that stamp card if you’re a closet cupcake junkie and give yourself a reason to lift more heavy weights at the gym. They have cupcakes of the month so take note. 1 table for seating so be prepared to take it to go. EVERYTHINGLOOKSDELISH! I’ve ordered the aforementioned peanut butter, coconut(for my husband), wedding cake, and salted caramel. By the time the weekend is over, I’ll update with a little something in all of them. Most importantly the CAKE itself is moist, fluffy, and not overly sweet. I’m so happy I went in today. Keep up the good work Smallcakes, you’re doing BIG things.

Love this place! Fabulous cupcakes & ice cream & friendly staff! They even have PUPPYCAKES, which my dog loved! Will definitely be back, as if once a week wasn’t enough! Love the almond wedding cake cupcake & the 24 carrot ice cream! Great addition to the neighborhood & well worth a visit!!!

It’s nice to see such nice owners opening up a second location. I’m a big fan of their Naperville location and glad to see their new location also features ice cream. I had to sample the salted caramel, but already had seen them making the strawberry on their page and mint chip is a weakness, so I went with a scoop of those 2. For now I believe they’re mirroring the Naperville location for their hours, but perhaps if the ice cream crowds demand later hours, it may come to be. I always enjoy their daily cupcake specials and the cake is always so soft, fresh and tasty. It’s hard to find a favorite flavor, so try them all. I’ll certainly enjoy a cupcake/shake creation or an ice cream sandwich on my next visit to Lakeview.
