I know there are a lot of review’s like mine, but today I felt like expressing myself. I went to Rosebud Express to get an egg croissant. No cheese, no bacon. Just eggs inside the croissant. Well, I get to my office and after a while of chatting and recapping on office gossip I opened my container and guess what I found… CHEESE on my ONLY eggs croissant. And yes, I do eat cheese occasionally. The point is, please get the orders right. Why ask, «What can I get you today?» if the cook will get me whatever he wants. That is the point. Don’t ask me if you are not going to follow instructions. Period! Overall, their food is alright. Not the best, but it will help if you are starving and there is nothing else in the building before going in to work. It would be nice if the cook actually got the order right. Last time I got bacon in my croissant, I am a vegetarian. –_–

I think its good… affordable for the quality of food you get, as well. I’ve gotten the Eggplant Parm(i’ve had difficulty finding a good one in the loop for some reason) and its pretty solid. You get 3 pieces and pasta for 9 $. I also had the salmon special, which was well cooked. I’ll be back.

For a decent, quick lunch, Rosebud Express is a win. A little pricey to have more than once a week(if even that), but the quality is always there. They always have good daily specials to choose from(ranging from fish specials, to salads, to burgers & wraps), but you can also order off of their standard menu. I am in love with the asian chicken salad… you can make any of their salads into a wrap, as well. This is my default when I decide I don’t want anything from my office’s cafeteria for lunch, and so far I haven’t been disappointed!

I Went here for lunch and had chicken vesuvio but I tried my work buddies food too… Chicken parm and chicken scallopini. All 3 were ok. The potatoes were kinda dry and some parts of my chicken was overcooked. The wait staff was very attentive and very good. Although it was packed we got seating right away so that was nice. Pricing was a little higher but not too high compared to other sit down restaurants in downtown. Décor was nice and clean. I would say overall good experience and I was debating giving this 4 stars but then I compared it to Italian Village which isn’t too far away and has better food(in my opinion) which I would give 4 stars so I went with 3.

I will start with the Express checkout girls. They are just not happy — ever. and don’t ask for any special order or you will get attitude or a chuckle from the one. None of the staff in the express ever seem happy actually… working in the industry myself, I understand how chaotic lunch can be but they seem more than stressed — more like disgruntled. The food is usually good… although something is almost always missing or something a little off. Today my buffalo chicken salad had grilled chicken on it instead of the fried buffalo fingers with buffalo sauce on the side which was weird… and my coworker got blue cheese crumbles after she had asked for none. We both have rock hard burnt garlic bread crostinis so that is disappointing. I have had bits of pasta randomly in my salad and red old lettuce on previous salad orders which is not what you want to see when you pay over $ 10 for a salad. I will never get a burger again as the last time I got one it was dead raw inside — literally. not ok. When they get your order right it is great but I recommend checking your food before you leave every single time.

We won’t be back. Hubby & I have gone twice now for lunches, about a year apart. Both times, his burger was eerily underdone — despite specific requests upon ordering for Well Done. Recently, I had the Seafood Salad(a daily special) — unless you enjoy salmon with the texture & flavor of tree bark, take a pass. For a $ 29 lunch salad, one might also hope for more than a few forkfuls of crabmeat, waferlike scallops & sketchy/chewy shrimp. I didn’t complain because I felt sorry for the waitstaff who already had to fix a bleeding, now crumbled burger. Service is generally good. They did remove the burger jigsaw puzzle from the tab after we mentioned its problems. The corn chowder is delicious. Overall, just not worth the time/effort. Squeezing in a nice lunch with my husband should allow for a lovely experience — not weak food. There are too many sweeter places — like IPO and Zodiac.

Delicious!!! I have tried their desserts– cookies/krispies/and brownies. they are big and only $ 1.50. I work in the building and have also grabbed a pre-packed pasta salad for a work lunch. There was no price tag on it, so I was unsure how much, and at the counter pleasantly surprised it was just $ 4 with lots of chicken and pasta.

This place is ok… A place you go to have a quick lunch when you can’t leave the office. Not somewhere you go to have a great lunch or dinner.

Get their salads, they’re fresh and made to order. Coworkers swear the soup is outstanding, have yet to try though.

An almost fast food like at the express but so much better. Having been a fan of all the rosebud’s this little place in the loop is amazing. They offer a great menu filled with salads, pasta, sandwiches and daily specials. I usually end up having one of the daily specials. Most of the stuff on the express menu is on the restaurant’s menu. I recommend the chicken parm sandwich, any of the pasta with meat sauce, the fish special of the day and the soups are very good as well. Rosebud by far is one of my favorite places to eat in the city. I have never had to wait too long to get food here. The seating isn’t that much for the express, so in the winter I take it back to my office or summer I go across the street to the patio at Chase Bank. Update** It’s really not that expensive, especially for what you get. Lot of places in the loop charge you more for less food and food that is not as good as Rosebud. So yeah, I updated it!

This is one of my go to places for lunch. I hate to call this place fast food but it is. The salads are fresh, pasta al dente and bread crusty and delicious. Almost all of the items on the express menu appear on the restaurant menu at 50% or more, more. Everything is made fresh to order which sometimes causes it to take 5 – 10 min for your food but it is well worth it. They have great specials with the Friday Seared Tuna and Noodle Salad to die for. They have several soups every day including Minestrone and at least one other vegetarian soup. I don’t know of any other place down town where they have a vegetarian french onion soup.

Rosebud Express is in my building. So it really doesn’t have to be that good to hold my attention. Luckily, R-Ex is actually a decent lunch spot if you don’t mind dropping a ten spot. When said tenner buys me perfectly done whitefish, creamy couscous and yummy green beans, I do not mind at all. Plus, the portion is enough for two meals. They also offer salads, soups, sammies and breakfast, and a good selection of desserts. The wait for my food was totally reasonable, about 3 minutes, but that was around 1:15 so it may be worse during primetime. I can’t tell if the tables outside are only for the adjacent Rosebud Theater District resto but you can probably squeeze your way in to the glass-walled dining area of the café next door.

Great place to pop in after work for a drink. Free buffet! And fairly reasonable wines by the glass. Good looking crowd. Lively and bustling and fun.

We were in Chicago for the day and while walking back to the train station, popped into Rosebud Express for dinner. Having dined at other Rosebud eateries in the city, our gastronomical expectations were high. And we weren’t disappointed. My lobster ravioli with asparagus, spinach, and tiny shrimps absolutely luscious and my husband’s veal parmesan with pasta was lovely too! We ate in the dining room area which is a tad more formal than the casual seating area in the atrium right outside the restaurant. But still the atmosphere was casual and fun. While our waiter was a little disorganized(we waited quite a while for our drinks and he «couldn’t remember» where he had placed my wrapped carryout) the food was tasty and lives up to the Rosebud reputation!

I felt like I was coming here at least once a week after I started working in the loop. I like the salad options, but I was able to get the sausage and peppers meal when I was on my no carb diet and it was perfect change up. The prices are reasonable, and there is a communal seating area right outside the restaurant. They are very quick when I call in for a carryout order. There is a line if you decide to wait it out to order during the lunch time rush, so I suggest calling ahead.

This is my favorite go to place for lunch in the loop. All the quality of the Rosebud restaurants without the same cost. Let me just say their Ravioli Bolognase is the best I have had in Chicago. Yum! And only $ 8.95 when it’s the lunch special which is about 1x per month.

Great place to get a bite to eat. Perfect for business lunches. I often run next door to the«express» and get a wonderful salad made to order.

A good, solid lunch option in the Loop. Hidden away in the first floor of the building on the northwest corner of Madison and Dearborn. Daily specials are sometimes appealing(though the physical example servings are a little weird – still helpful in knowing what you’ll get and how to customize). The taco salad(sans meat for me) is good Midwestern faire. When one of the many specials doesn’t appeal, the soup is always really good. Minestrone is solid, and there are often interesting daily choices. Better and less processed tasting than the soup at Au Bön Pain. Also good veggie-dip combo in the refrigerated case. I avoid the meat(my issue), but generally a solid lunch choice.

I work right on Dearbon and I walked up to the Rosebud today. I had a nicely prepare crabcake sandwich special for $ 8.95 with shoe string french fries and dill pickle. The sandwich was light & crispy on the outside, favorable & tender on the inside. There was a light sauce on top of the sandwich and the fries needed no salt! With a 20 oz bottle of coke it came to $ 9.98. Not a bad bargain! The guys preparing the meals were fast, hard working and calm during the rush lunch hour. I think they got one order wrong & the gave customer her what she wanted along with the wrong order. They say if you want to try an expensive restaurant, do the lunch 1st since it’s cheaper. If the Express is any indication on how good the Rosebud Restaurant is, I’ll definitely try the restaurant when I’m able to moneywise!

I am so lucky to have a place like Rosebud Express in my office building during winter. So many days I rely on them for my lunch… without having to throw on my coat and face the bitter cold. The food here is excellent. The prices are a bit more than I’m used too, but they always give me more food than I can finish. My co-worker and I actually split one lunch item between the two of us. They have the absolute best yogurt parfait in the mornings(which I found out are low fat!!). I was absolutely addicted to them for a long time. Also the lobster bisque is fantastic. The guy at the register is very friendly… I think he may be the manager.
