I’m leaving this review to alert people that Dr. Anthony Romeo is a pioneer in the field of shoulder reconstruction and I was the beneficiary of a procedure that he himself invented. The first two surgeons with whom I spoke wanted to do a tendon transfer, which would have permanently and irreversibly reduced my range of motion. Dr. Romeo performed a bone and cartilage graft to rebuild my socket and stabilize my shoulder. Also worth mentioning is that the scar left by the operation was tiny and will probably fade even more. I met a woman who had both shoulders replaced; each by a different doctor. The scar on the one done(coincidentally) by Dr. Romeo was likewise thin and feint while the other looked like a knife wound. Dr. Romeo also has a very able medically trained staff who are attentive and qualified to answer your questions or address concerns specific to your needs and condition.

I hope that I am doing this review for the correct Dr. Anthony Romeo. The doctor I am reviewing is Dr. Anthony A. Romeo with Rush/Midwest Orthopedics which is now located at 1611 W. Harrison Street. I recently underwent shoulder surgery with Dr. Romeo due to a severed supraspinatus tendon and a torn bicep tendon. I am totally impressed with the service through his entire organization. Upon my initial visit, I was given my options, and the pros and cons of those options. Once surgery was decided upon, I was given a complete handbook of what to expect, and how to prepare both before and after surgery. A few post surgical questions were handled promptly by his staff over the phone. I went back for my six week follow up, and after a preliminary exam by one of his assistants, Dr. Romeo himself came in and went through a series of motions with me to check my range of motion and strength. I was really reassured to find out that the rather minor pains I had were normal, and actually a good sign of healing, as I was totally paranoid about tearing something. There is, incidentally, a high failure rate for this surgery basically because people try to do too much too soon. I did have a somewhat longer wait than I expected, but considering the doctor may have to spend extra time with other patients, I could care less. He certainly did not rush through my examination, and if that type of thoroughness might cause him to fall behind schedule, I consider that a good thing. I can only highly recommend this surgeon and thank him for his good work.
