by Jeff S on Nov 12th, 2015 Our daughter, unfortunately, tore her left ACL and after a referral and interviewing the doctor my spouse and I chose him to do our daughters ACL surgery. A patella portion was used to reconstruct the torn ACL. After long hours of rehab and pain our daughter was allowed by Dr Joseph to continue playing her game of soccer. Shortly after, our daughter tore the same ACL. Our daughter said that the Dr stated that the repair was not his best and that the piece of patella was long allowing for a hyper-extension of the knee and injury to her medial meniscus. After a second repair, no charge, long hours etc. the cadaver graft used disintegrated. Upon investigation with three other leading orthopedic surgeons, all suggested that a cadaver graft should never be used on a child and the screws used to attach the graft were so obsolete. One of the three surgeons visited said he was upset over seeing this on a more common practice from Dr Bush’s practice. We are all very upset over the surgeries performed and to add insult to injury, Dr Bush-Joseph said to my daughter with a smile, go play college soccer and good luck… without a ACL. I will not and would not give Dr Bush-Joseph a referral at this point and would hope other parents with children with torn ACL’s will stay away from his practice. Sincerely, Jeff, Ph.D.
