It use to be good place, the coffee there was awesome rich taste and always fresh! I didn’t visit this place for few months so I decided to go the other day and order regular American coffee, the taste was terrible it taste sour and burned… I hope it was just that day, I love the interior and is quite place.

Portage grounds is a wonderful coffee shop, they have a great variety of coffee, tea and snacks to choose from. This place is exactly what the Portage Park community needed!

Portage Grounds is a great addition to the neighborhood. The staff is helpful and friendly. The owner makes a point to set up a stand at local events such as the farmers market and often mans the table himself.

Found this neat spot while at an early morning baseball game at the park. My sweetie walked over and picked up some sweets and coffee. Brought me an awesome cinnamon roll(huge), a lemon type roll(even bigger), and a blueberry scone. Took a bite of each one and they were all DELICIOUS! They were all so fluffy and warm! Based on a Unilocal picture I saw, he brought me a soy hot chocolate with cinnamon. Yummy! Sweetie had their intelligentsia coffee(he loves strong coffee). Will definitely stop here when in the area again!

This was our to go coffee shop but not after today. We called in to have our pockets pre-cooked since we go there almost everyday and know it takes 7 minutes to cook. When we walked in we were told they didn’t start cooking them because she misunderstood our request to pre-cook them over the phone. She didn’t apologize and just stared at us. As much as we love their coffee we will not be returning.

Great addition to neighborhood. Love the décor and the staff. Always nice. The coffee is great and the pastries are also yummy. Nice to to have close to my gym.

The hot chocolate is to die for. I really enjoyed the atmosphere! Though, if you’re a big party I don’t recommend it. The space is limited during pico hours.

This is a small, minimalist coffee shop that also has a glass conference room you can use? Interesting but useful I guess for those coffee shop meetings! I typically get the cinnamon vanilla latte and what’s great is that the drink isn’t your overly sweet flavored latte but rather has a more subtle cinnamon/vanilla flavor. The last time I stopped by I also grabbed a dark chocolate scone which was alright but nothing special. I would recommend the drinks but skip the scones. The girl at the register seemed extremely enthused about her job(insert sarcasm) and was not very welcoming but that’s OK, I honestly don’t need a side of friendliness with my latte!

Met a friend here once mainly because it wasn’t the usual. Looked really nice on the outside and I wanted to see if the inside and the coffee matched the impression I got. I’m happy to say it was equally nice inside, with the unexpected conference room available(for free if you’re getting coffee I think?) in the corner. Not terribly close to where I live, but if I was closer, or it was, I’d be happy to go more often. People working there were nice too.

Nice coffee! Latte was beautiful and just right intensity of espresso. I wasn’t very big fan of interior because most of the seats seemed uncomfortable, made of metal. I got a sofa seat and loved it although it was a little bit hard to work on my PC there. When it’s nice weather, I guess you can enjoy the park view in outside terrace :)

This is one of my go-to coffee spots in Portage Park. One of my favorite drinks from there is the iced chai latte. I also like their caffeinated choices, such as latte and seasonal latte/mocha with flavor shots(pumpkin spice, lumberjack, and peppermint). Their coffee is strong and super on-point. Currently they feature pastries from«Fannie’s,» on the corner of Montrose and Milwaukee. It’s great to see a local business that partners with another one in the neighborhood. They offer the frequent visit punch card, so you can work toward getting a free drink if you patronize here often enough. During warm weather seasons, their patio facing the Portage Park is absolutely gorgeous and spacious. Their business hours will also be extended until 9pm. Otherwise, they are open until 7pm during winter.

My step daughter use to live in the neighborhood and we would come by every now and then for a drink or to chat. I love the location. The shop is clean and cute. There’s a conference room which would be nice for private meetings and what now. The outdoor area is where we would spend most of our time. I love the outdoor area, but if you’re wearing shorts the chair leaves these marks on the back of legs.

This place is very unique. It looks more interesting from the outside than it does on the inside but it is still a neat place. Very homey, with a kitchen like checkout counter where drinks are prepared and served. They have bar stool seating around the border of the shop and some lounge chairs, couches, and small tables for a few. There is a meeting space that is available for reservation as well.

The coffee is good but very strong and their sweets and pastries are amazing. The staff is friendly too. Great place to go to stuff down a donut and latte while you watch dedicated people walking in and out of the XSport Fitness next door.

Ive been going to the xsport next door for over a year, and i always tell myself to stop by for coffee but i always forget and hit up dunkin on my way to work. Today i decided to stop in because i have been wanting to try this drink they advertise called The Lumberjack and man was it good! But the best part is the barista asked me if this was my first time coming and i said yes and he was like i hope you like it if you don’t i will gladly make you something else. Thats good customer service and that got me thinking we should support our local business more instead of giving these big box companies our hard earned money. They got a returning customer In me and im going to spread the word!

Portage Grounds pulls one of the best espressos I have had in quite a while! Location wise. could be better. The décor and outside tables are really cute and inviting, but the area itself(surrounding stores, busy intersection) is not as attractive. The barista are all extremely friendly, and the inside couches and tables are very comfortable and inviting. There is even a meeting room for large groups! I ordered a small latte, but wish I would I have tried one of their specialty drinks(coconut latte!) If I am in the area again I will definitely come here again.

Came here on a Friday to grab a coffee & a pastry. Unfortunately, they were out of everything & it was only 11am! There were signs for bagels and pastries, but they were nowhere to be found. So disappointing! I ordered an iced caramel latte, that was solid flavor-wise, but a little pricey — over $ 5 for a fairly small large. The outdoor patio space at Portage is nice — lots of tables and flower boxes make it an inviting place to stick around for a relaxed chat with a friend or stay to get some work done. I’d stop by again, but hopefully I could get some breakfast to accompany my coffee next time!

I’m definitely a fan of Portage Grounds. They have great coffee and the folks who work there are super nice. The location is also nice – right across from one of the nicest parks in Chicago! Recommendation: definitely try the scones!

I used to come here very often to work. Love the tea selection and the atmosphere is cozy! Great place to hang out for a while and chill or work.

Came across this place because it’s right next to my gym(xsport). They have good coffee and really good donuts on the weekends I recommend the vanilla bean donut & an Americano Coffee is strong, lattes are a little overpriced at 3.25 but it’s a good treat. I think they would benefit from offering blended protein smoothies to draw in customers from the gym(but maybe that’s just not their thing). The décor is cute & there is a good amount of seating indoor and out for guests. Also, free wifi!
