Good pizza. Good prices. Everything is homemade here. The crust, sauces, soups, etc… Just as it should be. It’s s nice place for a cup of coffee too. Around 3 or 4 it’s really crowded with teens who frequently go after school.

I was desperate to pick up something before heading home and was skeptical about a place with such an original title as pizzeria calzone. I ordered 2 slices from a not so friendly worker… When I tired the pizza, I wish I haven’t… Tasted like the old Dominicks pizza… No flavor, sat out all day it seems… Not even cut like nyc style but rather how a 12 yr old would cut frozen pizza… Don’t ever go here!!! And get a new name !!!

Given that the website and Unilocal state that they are open until 11 pm, we were excited to try a new place, given the reviews. We called at 9:05 pm to place an order for a pizza only to be told that they are closed. Not a good way of getting new customers :/

I have been driving by this place got years and finally stopped in. I ordered cevapi which is a Yugoslavian sausage sandwich. It was great, the bread was super tasty. Then I ordered a large pizza to take to my co worker, it was authentic New York style pizza. The owner was a gentleman and I will keep on supporting him

They make the dough, and sauce from scratch and the staff are very friendly. If you’re in the area it’s worth seeking out. I personally prefer carryout but hey its even BYOB.

This is probably the worst place to come with your wallet. They have a credit card machine, but they prefer cash. That is fine. I understand. The thing that ticked me off was their berserk cash register and special prices that they don’t even remember. The guy tried to charge me regular high prices when their special prices were written on a board next to the register. I watched as the guy punched my pizza price into the register and I redid the math and found out that I paid probably a 40% tax on my pizza. Pro: Opens late at night, Decent burgers Con: Obscured charging by cashier and register. Pizza wasn’t really that good(they cut slices of sausage that you can buy at your local supermarket to make a sausage pizza)

My family just love their pizza. Even we had opportunity to try many different places in the past, now we can hardly imagine Pizza night without pizza from Calzone. They use very fresh and good quality ingredients, price is right and pizza is delicious and never disappoints. The owners are very pleasant and honest people. One time they missed one piece of my order and since they were busy that night I did not even let them know but when they realized they called to apologized and offered free order for the next time The best kept secret in Rogers Park.

Really, Unilocal?REALLY? Rarely do you lead me astray, and when my husband and I were looking for a local pizza place by our new house we checked out Unilocal. We pass Pizzeria Calzone all the time and from the reviews it seemed pretty solid. We ordered two pizzas when we had friends over for $ 26 for two medium specialty pizzas. We ordered BBQ Chicken and the Margherita(normally a favorite of mine). We love pizza. We are very forgiving about pizza. We will order from places ranging from Little Caesars to Dominos, to Chicago’s, to Gulliver’s, to you name it. I’ve eaten Little Caesars… the bar for edible pizza isn’t very high. Like I said, we’re incredibly forgiving, and even so this was THEWORST pizza I have ever eaten. The margherita pizza had absolutely no basil. The tomatoes were still green and incredibly sparsely placed. It was drenched in Olive OIl and tasted like nothing BUT oil. There was a pathetic amount of sauce on the BBQ Chicken and the chicken was insanely dry. I don’t know what cheese they use, but it was also plasticky and a gross consistency. We never throw food away, but the pizza was so disappointing we threw away the leftovers(an entire pizza) because neither we nor our friends wanted any of what was left. Maybe we caught them on a bad night. Maybe their other food is better, but I’m not in a hurry to give their pizza another try.

Ever heard of the term«close, but no cigar?» Well that’s how I feel about their claim of having NY style slices. It’s ok but certainly not anything special.

I LOVE their pizza!!! This is my 2nd favorite pizza place in Chicago. The crust is so good. It’s flaky and thin-ish. Not greasy. Price is good. We got a HUGE pizza for $ 23 — about 3 meals for 2 people. This place isn’t usually packed unless it’s right after the kids from the high school across the street are let out. I’ve also seen someone have a kids birthday party here — great idea. The owner is so nice and friendly and he is usually your waiter and the chef. Other people mentioned the cheap slices they sell. I’ve only ordered that once. Ordering a freshly made pizza is definitely the way to go.

I drive by this joint every day, and it’s always dim inside, and they don’t seem to do much business. However – they make a mean calzone. Perfect crust, but too much cheese and not enough sauce. If they evened out that balance this thing would be the crown jewel of my calzone search. As it is, I will keep coming by here on my way home from work. I’ve already got their number in my phone.

DONOTBUYBYTHESLICE. Order the pizza you want to have, and it will come fresh and fast. I paid $ 6,60 for a 9″ mushroom pizza and I loved it. I’m a picky vegetarian, and not many places have the options they do with this price. The place should be less hidden, though. Better signalized.

Is it Calzone pizzeria or Pizzeria calzone? There’s a difference between the signs on the store and the Internet directory. This is where high school kids go to catch $ 2 slices & where Police are found enjoying a late lunch on weekend afternoons. On very random weekends would you be able to find them open late night. Otherwise they typically close very early. However, say if there’s a local festival going on, they may stay open longer. The pizza is plain. Sauce is not sweet, more of a salty flavor. I was there with a salt fanatic and he thought the pizza was great. What I thought was great: they’d run out of slices and the guy was willing to make us individual pizzas the size of two large NY style slices. 15 minutes later we were eating our slices. At 2 am its alright. Not heavy, not oily or greasy. I’ve tried them out a few times now and there’s nothing more to report. Standard affordable pizza joint.
