Nice little Neighborhood Place. Bacon tasted old. I informed the server who just dismissed me.

Mediocre food with terrible service. I have given it a shot multiple times and every time I wait about 20 minutes for my order to be taken and then another 45 for my food with a completely empty restaurant. Staff seems to be walking around talking and doing nothing while tables sit. On top of that, the food is no where near worth the wait. Pancakes are decent but everything else is hard to swallow. Place is feels very dirty and many time coffee mugs come to the table still dirty, tables are also pretty sticky. This place really needs to step it up, I will definitely not be returning.

Pauline’s is a great place. The chef knows his business from a lifetime. The menu selection is exceptional and the staff does a great job. They know us after the first few visits. Worth a try.

Great! Great service! Great food! Big portions right price and a great atmosphere! Will def go back and recommend it to friends. Also they are very kid and family friendly which is nice. Once again we are here and it always exceeds our expectations! We now just discovered that every Friday when you spend $ 10 or more you receive a a free cinnamon roll! This ain’t no popped out of a can store bought junk. This is is JUMBO made from scratch cinnamon roll loaded with icing! So delicious!

Randomly found this place while walking along Fullerton. It’s a nice place, the food was good… Sausage, eggs, and potatoes were very good, the pancakes were just ok. They might have been under staffed but service wasn’t that great.

Been here so many times and still I wanted to come back again. I highly recommend that you must try their eggs benedict and pan cakes. You won’t surely regret, great taste and price is just right, It matches the quality of the food and service.

It’s hard to write because I’m so stuffed. I had the banana pancakes. We also ordered eggs Benedict, and a couple of omelette specials. The coffee is excellent. Service is friendly. We’ll be back.

This is my second time here and i can honestly say that I love this place. The prices are right and the staff is very friendly. Both times that ive been here I’ve ordered the crabmeat eggs Benedict and it was amazing! I also had the fresh squeezed orange juice. My wife had the fresh squeezed orange and mango juice. They also let us sample the orange carrot juice. Overall a great experience and will continue to come back for more

Excellent breakfast! Perfectly cooked potatoes with just the right amount of crispness, I asked for the eggs over-medium & again, cooked to perfection. Clean & cute & most importantly, great coffee!

I’ve been to both locations. I recently visited the Fullerton location and met a beautiful baby named Dharma, along with her beautiful parents. Our food was served hot, fast and with a smile. I will definitely visit this location again in the future. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall location, so there is free parking in the lot.

This place needs to re evaluate its business. Service is slow. It isn’t open during the hours stated. And the food is really inconsistent. We have been there a bunch of times since it opened just because it is easy with parking, but we never know what to expect. I really want this place to be great. But I think they are cutting too many corners. Wish it would go back to Charlie trotter to go. Or some other high end deli concept. And for breakfast. Skip it and go to panera.

I went to Pauline’s on a quiet Monday. A few other patrons were in the café. Like others note, I agree the décor leaves a weird taste in your mouth. The service was adequate. I got the big breakfast and the pancakes were ok, potatoes, eggs and bacon were good. No pressing desire to go back

Strange place. Scheduled a business breakfast here for 8:00AM. They say they open at 8:00. At 8:00 the place was dark. About 8:05 one guy shows up opens the door but sort of leaves the lights off as if hoping customers would not come in as several we’re waiting. We all entered to a dark room. The one guy was very nice but told us there was no wait staff and it might be a bit. We all sat down patiently and death with our iPhones etc. Slowly but surely someone else showed up and the place became functional.

I would describe Pauline’s as an upscale diner. The food was standard diner with some fancier items(like asparagus and goat cheese omelette) and the potatoes are excellent. The service was attentive and the price was reasonable. The atmosphere is a little odd, as others have stated, but so is the atmosphere at many other lincoln park breakfast spots. I’ve been twice and there was no wait either time. This place seems to be in that magic time before people really discover it and the hordes of hungry breakfasters arrive. Until then, I’m going to keep going.

Pauline’s, why!!! Food is still very good, but the service has gone down the trash chute since my first two visits. Last three visits(spread out over a few months) have resulted in insanely slow service, and often bizarre interactions with the servers when we ask why the food is taking so long or why other tables that came in and ordered after us already have their dishes. I was hoping these experiences would be the exception, but they have become the norm for me here, and so I’m not sure I’ll be returning.

Bad. Skip it. It’s rare that I have dining experience so perfectly terrible that it’s almost worth celebrating. It’s an important milestone. Our beloved waitress had a bag of ritz crackers in her apron that she frequently snacked on. Don’t like the food at Pauline’s, I take it? Food took about 30 minutes and was cold. There were only 5 other tables… Actually we counted more staff than patrons. The service was impeccably bad. And the food wasn’t good either. I mean, they forgot a few things in the order, so I can’t know for sure if it’s all bad, right? But what we tried(eggs, pancakes, potatoes, French toast) was rubbery and gross. And cold, of course. Barf.

Patience is not a virtue that was bestowed on me, especially when I’m hungry. To say I get cranky and irritable would be a gross understatement. Like n00bs, we tried to dine at Batter & Berries after seeing them on Check Please. Maybe it’s always like that(I’ve driven by many times and seen a big crowd), but frustrated doesn’t even describe how I felt waiting a long time with little to no advancement on their list. We finally got smart and headed for Pauline’s. The new Pauline’s resides in the old Trotter’s to Go space, a small strip mall with parking. While I’ve never dined at the original, I’ve seen photos of the eclectic, kitschy décor. The new Pauline’s tries to emulate it, but it’s just… off. Was it some of the repurposed TTG equipment, I don’t know. Regardless, rather than giving the place a homey feel, it feels more like they were hedging their bets by not investing a complete revamp. My least favorite part were the small wrought iron mosaic tables, more appropriate for patio furniture; you can throw a tablecloth over them, but I can still feel the tile digging into my elbows. A stark contrast to Batter & Berries, Pauline’s was nearly empty when we arrived. I ordered a short stack of blueberry pancakes and a side of Pauline’s potatoes. He ordered the traditional eggs benedict. While the décor was lacking, the food was not. My pancakes were great, jam packed with blueberries and the potatoes with their peppers and onions hit the spot. At least for the time being, if you’re looking for a quick place to grab breakfast or lunch(with parking to boot), this is it. My guess is that won’t last long and there will be a line like most other places in the area. Pauline’s also does a decent amount of carry out business; there are soups, cakes, etc. available to take home. 3.5 stars
