Good & cheap! I have been here several times for take out. The staff is always friendly and the service fast. Yeah, this is typical Chicago greasy spoon food. So can’t complain. You know what your in for when you go to a place like this, greasy deliciousness!

The gyros here are about average. Ive had tacos, a cheeseburger, and a gyro cheeseburger, all of which I could not eat. If it wasnt for the cheap prices, I would of posted one star.

This place is about a five minute walk from my house — which is why I don’t feel bad for coming here for their gyros sandwich like once a month. The meat in the sandwich doesn’t have much bite to it, meaning it’s super soft and very one dimensional. No grisel or crispy edges here. I compare all my gyros sandwiches to the many that I had in Amsterdam three years ago. Which is probably unfair to Parkside. Standards and relativity. Sometimes you’ve got to forget them and just eat the darn gyros that’s a short walk from your house.

I have to disagree with most of what I’ve read. I’ve only had the gyros so that’s all I can write about. But I will say, that I went to Morse Gyros and they were gross, soggy pita, soggy meat I had almost given up on gyros in this area until someone told me to check out parkside. I drove by and thought it looked it a bit sketchy but reminded myself not to judge a book by its cover. I ordered 2 gyros with fries and a can of pop for each and my total was $ 13 I thought… oh no… this is going to be horrible. I got home and my boyfriend and I unwrapped our gyros and the first bite I WASHOOKED… the pita was slightly crispy like they grilled it. the flavor of the meat was great the tomatoes were fresh and the onion was so good, usually I pick it off. We’ve been back 3 times since. The guys working are always really nice and the prices are so cheap. Like I said I’ve only had the gyros, but I am definitely a fan.

I really love this place. The food is beyond great, it has quality and quantity. You definitely get more than what you paid for. I dont eat red meat but really wanted something other than a hamburger. So the owner was so kind to give me a chicken gyro as weird as that sounds. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the fries were seasoned really good as well. Its a great spot to eat and fill up your stomach for a low price. I’m from Rogers Park and I know the places around and this is by far one of the best. I’ll go there anyday with my friends and try new things. Yes the signage is a bit old but Im not eating the signage and its perfectly readable. And yes this place is also in a strip mall but its in Rogers Park Chicago I think all places are near or in a strip mall so if you actually are true Chicago resident you will find this place to be perfect. I give this place five stars for having amazing food and service.

I agree with Aaron that«it is what it is»… and it IS your neighborhood greasy spoon take out joint. I’ll admit, the food is probably above average for the price and the portions are HUGE and MESSY. I dont think you can judge a joint like this based on the television noise(though it is rather noisy) or the seating or even the signage. If you’re looking to go out to do dinner this obviously isn’t the place. Order your food, wait a few minutes, and walk out the door, if you want to do anything other than that you’ve come to the wrong sort of place. The customer service is subpar even for the type of place it is. A lot of kids just standing around… and when I was there they were polite enough to make some homophobic comments to one another. Probably not the best business practice in place as diverse as Rogers Park. I’m sure anything you get there you can get better within a few blocks, and I’d recommend doing that over pushing your luck here.

I have lived in Rogers Park for a year and passed Parkside Gyros on several occasions, I decided to check it out. I’ve been there twice and was disappointed both times. I thought this would be a Greek inspired Chicago fast food joint. I tried the hot dog and the namesake of the restaurant a gyro. I was disappointed with the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant. As far as the atmosphere is concerned my expectations were low before I walked in it is in a small strip mall next to a laundromat. They have the basic booths and a couple of tables, the menu looks like it was posted in the 1980s the signage is old looking. There is a television inside the restaurant that was blaring loud, I asked the what I assume was the owner why the t.v. was so loud he said it is there for the cooks to watch(in a very rude manner). I thought they should probably be cooking, not watching t.v., but it’s not my restraint. The food is sub-par, nothing tasted fresh, the hot dog, not good, the fries, not good, the gyro, just kind of o.k.The fountain beverage, flat! A flat fountain pop should be against the law! I grew up in Chicago and love hot dogs, gyros, and italian beefs so it has to pretty bad for me not to like it. There are so many places to get Chicago fast food in and around Rogers Park, don’t waste your money here. For a superb gyro with a nice atmosphere and friendly service you can go about six blocks south on Clark to Sahara Kabob.

It is what it is. For $ 5.99, the BBQ half-chicken dinner was way above average. Fresh veggies in the salad, decent fries, the chicken wasn’t dry, and two pieces of real garlic bread(as opposed to the balloon bread that Harold’s provides). Cash only, gyros, dogs, burgers, chicken, italian beef. A good neighborhood place, and I’ll definitely return.
