Here is what I will say — I really enjoy the pizza, and they have Green Line beer, so that is always nice. In the end, though, it is really not a GREAT place. In the summer, they have some outdoor seating, which is nice. What really brings them down is their drinks and their service. I recommend you get the beer(a very small variety on draft) or wine(again, only two options) because they are super skimpy on their mixed drinks. A friend asked for wine to replace her mixed drink, and without prompting the waiter said he saw the bartender put a lot of liquor in it, and that she should just ‘slam it.’ Friend didn’t bring up the weak pour, so it is clear they understand it is an issue, and instead of addressing it they are just encouraging people to chug their drinks so they don’t need to comp them.

Not great. Atmosphere was ok. Beer was not bad except the two we had to send back because they were flat. Highlight was the bartender/waitress with a great personality. You can find a better place on this same block.

So I came to this place on a Wednesday night. We were 8 friends. It wasn’t packed at all. All my friends got their pizza’s at the same time, however, mine came out 30 minutes late. So instead of eating after everyone was finished I told him the server to cancel my order and void the charges cause I had a tab open. He said it had been voided. Today I look at my statement and the charges went from pending to official. They charged me for a pizza I never even got to eat. It came out 30 minutes late. I just don’t understand how this could have happened on a night where it wasn’t even busy. On top of that you charge me!!! Now I have to call my credit card company and report a theft to the police. Never going back here again just out of principle. Thank you Justin

We came in here last night pretty much because it was the first place we saw and it was freezing. We ended up having a great experience and will definitely go back! Maria our server was awesome and the food(especially $ 0.50 wings & chicken dumpling soup) was delicious. Definitely going to come back to this place!

Hubs and I are visiting Chicago — flew in last Wednesday and ended up napping after we got to our AirBNB place, so we needed a late night dinner option nearby. And thus we found OTP. The pub was pretty empty(not too surprising for a Wednesday night), so we got our drinks and food really fast. Yay! Wait staff was pleasant, too. The ambiance was decent — a tad divey, but clean and well-lit. We ordered a Greek salad and were pleased to see it came with kalamata olives instead of canned«black» olives. Nice. Also ordered one of the premium pizzas — only complaint was they put so much topping on, it kept falling off the pizza. But hey, that’s better than having too few toppings! So even that was kind of a win. It ended up being karaōke night, too. Well played, Universe — that’s one of our not-so-guilty pleasures. We sang a few songs with the locals before heading back to our AirBNB. Would come here again if we lived here.

Took me awhile but finally came back here after a very bad experience a year ago. Only revisited because owner reached out after last review. Although he asked me to tell him when I came back, I did not want any«special» treatment. Happy to say it was definitely a very different experience! 1 — Service was fast and friendly — despite being fairly busy(at least in the area I was sitting), I did not have to wait long for service. May have helped that they had more staff there and it was not as crowded as last time. 2 — Had a burger and it was done well and very tasty. Coleslaw is different — but I really liked it. Some people near me had the chicken tacos and raved about them. 3 — Saw from my visit that there are quite a few regulars here — but I still felt welcome(not like an interloper at all). A good basic pub with laid back crowd. 4 — Prices were VERY reasonable. My overall take — This is not a fancy place but the warm and welcoming atmosphere as well as good prices really made it a good experience. Glad I gave it another try.

Went here last night and was completely insulted. When I walked in, it was a Sunday night at 10PM. Not exactly a happening night, there were a small group of people at the bar. The bartender nodded at me, not really saying hello or smiling, walked away, came back with shots for the group. Went to the back. I was still waiting after just that half-greeting. I walked out. I know I’m just one guy. But I’m one guy that has Irish in him and would have spent a decent amount on drinks. If you have more than one person in your group, it might be ok. But if you’re just out on town looking for a quick drink(s), forget this bar and it’s phony bartender.

Food was decent but the terrible service is what warrants this rating. Upon walking in the bartender and seemingly only person in there didn’t greet us for about 2 minutes. Not even a hello. Our drinks were empty for the majority of our meal, never offered refills and spent 90% of her time talking to friends at the bar counter. My guess is this place is probably great for the bar atmosphere… but it is terrible for having a quick bite of lunch at a service table.

I have never done a review on places ive been then again i have never been so dissatisfied. I even registered to sites ill never use again just to write this review. The absolute worse food i have eaten. My wife got calamari and it was so over cooked you couldnt chew it. I had a pizza that i believe was made with expired ingredients i ate one slice and felt like throwing it back up on the plate. Walked blocks back to my hotel and still feel it. i do not recommend this place for any one who likes food and keeping it down.

I purchased a Groupon to use in on 3÷14÷2015. It didn’t say anywhere that it won’t be accepted Saturday afternoon. Sooo disappointed.

I went here on a Thursday, and the blackhawks were playing and the place was still empty. I swear the back of the bar was just me and the friend I was with. It made it kind of nice because we could hear each other and talk, but at the same time you didn’t get that feeling you get when you’re cheering for your team in a crowded bar with everyone else cheering for your team! So that’s a matter of opinion, what isn’t is that they didn’t have Miller lite in a bottle. Only had it in a can. Not a fan of can Miller lite. Also the waiter came by like once to see if we needed anything. Which being that both our beers were empty we did. We probably would’ve drank at least one additional round in the time it took for the waiter to appear. Decent enough place. Id say it’d be a quick stop if you’re bar hopping. Nothing overly exciting

My friends and I came here after work and I’m so glad we did! The atmosphere is totally laid back, it was not crowded at all and our waiter was amazing! My friends and I ordered the Mac n cheese, burger and Greek salad. *Greek salad with chicken amazing! Give great portions and chicken is so tender *Burger. .also amazing and huge! If you’re not a fan of cheese ask for little cheese or no cheese because it is piled on Definitely will come back!

The service here was terrible. My 75 year old mother and I waited an hour for a lukewarm pizza and never got the beer I ordered. I get things happen and waitresses/waiters are people too, however, ours was standing in the corner with her boyfriend up until the people at the table next to us asked their waitress to come over and help us because they noticed how long we had been sitting there. Matter of fact, they sat down after us, ate and paid before we were even served. When our tip reflected the service, our waitress stopped us to ask iwhy her tip was so small(I actually left her 7%). When I explained, she got irritated and in my face. Needless to say that was about the worst thing she could have done. I’ll spare you the details. Bottomline, terrible experience.

After a night of holiday activities we searched everywhere for a place to grab a bite and a drink with open tables. Old town pub had a table in the back near a large tv so it worked perfectly. We ordered a pitcher of draft beer(great taste and cold) and ordered dinner. I had the stromboli. It was very cheesy and filled with great ingredients. The outside was a bit plain but tasted really good when dipped in the sauce. My boyfriend ordered a buffalo chicken wrap and said it was pretty tasty. The other couple in our group had the pizza. They said it was pretty good but not far above what you’d expect anywhere else in chicago. The place itself was very pub-like(obviously) but could have much better bathrooms. There was a wood slab missing from the bathroom door or what we called… a peephole. Not cool. Other than that it was alright, nothing too fancy by any means but a good place to pop in for a drink and food when no where else is open.

old town pub should be a great bar and an alternative to some of the fancier places in the area, unfortunately it’s not. the place is broken in, but it goes a little farther and becomes a bit old/tired. please note i am not referencing the cleanliness, everything seemed okay as that goes. the food was average, not bad, not great. bartenders were cool, but the waitresses not as friendly. walk down a small flight of stairs and the bar is immediately on the left. just a ledge opposite the bar. beyond the bar is a mix of seating. the bar top is a perfectly worn wooden surface with a classic wide rail. perfect for forearms. wooden stools with back support. the bar back is a mix of shelves, bottles, & hdtvs. nothing special or decorative. stamped tile ceiling. an outdoor patio that is good on the warm days & for smokers. other patrons are a mix, but most likely you’ll be drinking with someone that’s spent some time in a bar. easy conversation. atmosphere is usually more subdued. can get louder for a short time if certain crowds come thru or if a chicago team is playing.

Randomly stopped in here one Saturday afternoon to escape the heat and glad we did. Sat at the bar and tossed back a few pints of Anti-Hero and chatted with some local regulars. It’s the kind of place that you kinda miss from the old days where people went to a bar to socialize with strangers and not just stare a big screen TV’s and ignore everyone(although they do have TV’s as well). Staff was very friendly and we met some colorful characters who we could actually see spending more time with. Heck, they even bought us a round and we only knew each other for less than 2 hours. This block of Wells seems to be well on it’s way to gentrification but amidst that is a neighborhood gem that I hope can fight back the coffee bars and upscale organic markets that are starting to invade. Stay strong Old Town Pub! We’ll be back!

I ordered the blackened chicken wrap. When ordering, I asked, «is there mayo on this?» I was told no. Great! The wrap comes out… and guess what? The sauce that is used on the chicken is MAYO-BASED. Umm, that would have been REALLY helpful to know. I was with work colleagues, and in a hurry, so I managed to eat it. but really — if it’s mayo-based, and I ask if there is mayo… please tell me! Thankfully, I really liked the tater tots, and was able to fill up on those. The Diet Coke, however, didn’t taste like proper Diet Coke. Either flat or a non-branded version, not sure. What I did like is that there were ample TVs showing the World Cup matches. The service was super attentive — perhaps a little too attentive — but I’d rather have that than non-existent. I’m still annoyed about the mayo.

I could easily see myself falling in love with this place. The food isn’t great, but it isn’t terrible. Haven’t tried the pizza though. It’s a breath of fresh air from all the snooty places in the neighborhood. Props to the bartender, she was the only person there and she was waiting on the entire place. I will be back!!!

Wow, for a place that gets looked over too easily they have some surprisingly tasty pizza! Perfect crust and sauce balance with whatever chosen ingredients. Their beer list isn’t the most extensive, but can easily satisfy all tastes as a whole. For all the douchefest bars down the street on Wells, this is a great place to enjoy a decent brew and cozy conversation on a weekend night!

Not to be confused with Old Town Pour House(chad/trixie) or Old Town Ale House(hippies/hipsters), Old Town Pub is a sleepy little space to go to kick back a few beers and eat some good pub food. I’ve never seen this place more than ¾ full, and I prefer it that way. Plenty of TVs, decent beers on tap, and decent food make this the type of place you go to catch up with a friend while wearing sweatpants and no makeup. And no one will judge you for it.
