The deli was awesome! Looks like they closed and I have to wonder if that coincides with the alderman losing the election??? That aside, if they find a new home… I’m there! Outstanding sandwiches(The Devon), wonderful value, and great service. The whole experience had character and personality that only the good ones can provide. Keep an eye out for a re-opening because it is well worth the effort to give it a jig!

I’ve never been here, but wanted to check it out. Checked their site and it says they are closing May 1st. after their building sold. SAD!

This place is definitely a hidden gem! We have lived less than a mile from this deli for almost 2 years and today was the first time we had ever tried their sandwiches. We were thoroughly impressed by the quality of ingredients, selection, and price. I can’t believe that we didn’t try it earlier! We will definitely be back again for take out.

Having recently moved to the area, I’ve stopped by O’Connor’s for their various sandwiches several times, and have yet to be disappointed. There are a number of different varieties of sandwiches, all of which have been tasty, decently sized, and reasonably priced. Service has been friendly every time I’ve been there, so I’ll keep coming back.

This spot couldn’t get much better unless they started serving chips and curry… then I might never leave. Sandwiches and salads are great portion sizes, and their specials are taped up on my office wall. I have yet to have something I haven’t liked. I typically get the corned beef, steak or ham/brie/apple sandwiches. If you arent familiar with some Irish imports, I am a huge fan of their Irish Club sodas.

One of my chair yoga students, Irish from Ireland, told me to come here for an Irish Breakfast Tea that will catapult your ass to high heaven. She’s right! Barry’s is the bomb. Something like $ 8 for 75 bags. Their Irish oatmeal and Bangers you can buy are also off the chain. I ordered the St Patrick’s Day special – corned beef, parsley carrots, potatoes & cabbage – it was AIGHT. A huge meal for under ten dollars. But, I’m a bit of a corned beef snob and I wanted it to feel like it was falling apart in my mouth, so it was a bit stiff for my taste. For a regular lunch, you can get a pretty awesome toasted sandwich with avocado and fresh bread – just be prepared to wait about 15 minutes for it to warm up. I also loved the TAYTO crisps and Cidona carbonated drink – kind of like a sparkling apple cider.

I’ve stopped here several times over the years, but this last time it was to get some Irish Soda Bread for our St. Patrick’s celebration. The bread was quite good. I also got a small Shepard’s pie that we had for dinner, which was excellent. I think next time I will have to get 2 because one was just a tad skimpy for 3 people. Of course, I got Christopher some Curlywhurlies. He loves those things. Next time I stop, I need to expand my horizons and try some more items. It is a great way to pick up Irish treats with one stop shopping.

Great fish and chips dinner! Fish was crispy, light and not oily, sweet potato fries crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, tartar sauce tasted homemade, coleslaw was definitely home made. Can’t wait to work my way through the menu!

It was one of those snowy, grey Saturdays and I had this random instant taste for a good deli sandwich. I hopped onto Unilocal to find a place nearby since a sandwich is not worth driving long distances for. Found O’Connor’s and was surprised I hadn’t really noticed it before, since it is so close. To be fair, it is sort of out of the way and hidden. Since it is just past an inclined railroad crossing, most people probably are too focused on safe/defensive driving I guess. Anyway, we walked in and the place was empty. A simple little setup. My wife and I both ordered the«Devon», which is a turkey, lettuce, red onion, avocado, and balsamic mayo sandwich. Also, we got a small bowl of chili each. The chili came first and it was very good although it could have been served hotter. The sandwich was made to order and was great! Since we ordered the half and half each, our sandwich was basically one big sandwich cut in half. As we ate, more customers arrived. We ended up getting two house baked cookies on the way out. They were awesome. I was very happy to discover this place because I can see myself coming here frequently. This is not only a great place for locals, but also a great place I WOULD drive a decent distance for.

Hidden gem, easy to miss. Great for lunch. Have been here about 4 times now. Yesterday grabbed a great ham & swiss sandwich, ham & potato soup, home made cookies. Great fresh food and an affordable price. If your in the area gotta stop here. I am not Irish but kooks like they carry so many Irish foods and extras. All looks great. Can’t wait to try other items on menu(great menu online). Great daily specials as well.

Mouth is watering just thinking O’Connor’s. Best sandwiches I have ever had. Great soup and chili as well. I am sure their salads are just as good. This place crushes any chain!

I come here from Edgewater for the sausages, candies, and sodas my Irish boyfriend needs to fend off homesickness. He’s picky about fresh pork sausages and the Diamond brand ones sold here have never disappointed. Today I had one of their baked sandwiches and it was amazing. Plenty of turkey, peppered bacon, tomatoes, and crispy lettuce. I was really impressed and I’ll be sure to get another the next time I’m in the neighborhood.

Can’t say enough great things about this place. I’ve had several of their sandwiches and soups. ALL have been fresh and super tasty! Prices are great(half soup with half sandwich for about $ 7! Portions are large too!). Love O’Connor’s!

There are times I feel as though I am duplicating reviews, because I’m not sure where the original went. I wonder if other Unilocalers feel the same. Solid sandwiches; that’s what I thought my first time a few years ago and how I feel about it today. For all your Irish deli and grocery needs. Actually, we should say for all your deli and prepared foods needs. You can score items like frozen prepared dinners or hot ones, sausages and other Irish favorites. Irish soda bread, salads, sandwiches, and deli meats. Find Irish imported candies, chocolates and beverages. I for one like Irish or British Cadbury over the crap we get here. They also offer additional Cadbury treats like drinking chocolate, eggs and favorites.(Damn you Hershey for ruining the brand and changing the flavors and shape.) I brought a friend here recently and he thought the sandwiches were overpriced. I think my buddy is just plain cheap. Pricing comes in somewhere around $ 7.50 plus a sandwich depending on size and toppings. I usually go for the All American. A large ciabatta bread loaf with crispy green lettuce and plump, juicy tomato. A dab of their own mix of salad dressing, mayo and or horseradish mustard. An ample mound of tasty meats and cheese, depending on what you’ve chosen it could be baked. The result is this immaculate sandwich carefully prepared, lettuce still with a crunch, bread is toasted with a crisp exterior and soft baked inside. It’s hearty and stomach filling. Sandwiches come with a plain old bag of chips. I like to order different imported soda beverages to complete my meal. I’m feeling hungry for it, thinking about the details. The buzz kill is that they close early, usually by 7 pm on most days. Check their website for more details. The market is located just past the railroad tracks so it’s easy to miss their parking lot.

A nice little deli that I don’t think many people know about(or atleast my boyfriend didn’t & he lives just a few blocks away). They have your standard deli meats, cheese, etc. But their sandwiches(baked or grilled) are extraordinary. I had the Edison Park sandwich & a bowl of cream of tomato soup. both were delicious! Just note that sandwiches that are grilled or baked take about 10 – 15 minutes but are definitely worth the wait. Grabbed the takeout menu on my way out so next time I’ll call ahead and that little wait time they warn about won’t be a wait at all. Also noticed they deliver as well.

This deli is a gem in EP. It’s hidden behind the tracks and often gets missed but you’re missing out on affordable, tasty sammies and soup. I love the feel, vibe and family touch of this deli.

I’ve stopped in for lunch a dozen times and every time the food is fantastic especially the homemade chili. They aren’t just sandwiches, they are delicious, custom-made, built to your perfection works of edible art. Last week I was in a mood for comfort food but just didn’t feel like cooking a thing, so I called and ordered the Meat Loaf dinner about 5pm and said I’d be by about 6pm. When I arrived to pick it up, they had it ready and it was hot, like it just came out of the oven. Brought it home to surprise my wife and loved it too. Also came with their famous Double Bakes. Outstanding.
