My whole family has been going there for years and love it every time. They are pricey, but very very good. I recommend it wholeheartedly. They fill out our insurance forms always, I just have to send it to the insurance.

Best experience I’ve ever had with an eye doctor. Hands down. The lens I had worn for years was no longer being manufactured, so we needed to find something else that was comfortable and suited my needs. He gave me a pair to try, I wore it for a few days, didn’t like it, came back, tried something new. He gave me a new pair (with different material) in a slightly different prescription than other doctors have in the past. At first I challenged this, so he let me try a pair with my old prescription and then showed me what the correction (with his new prescription) would look like. Of course, he was right. Thanks to him I see even better than I used to. The best thing, I think, was that he had no problem wasting some contacts just to put my mind at ease. He’s very patient, knowledgeable and kind. He knows what he is doing.
ADDED BONUS: the camera he uses to photograph the inside of your eye is CRAZY! So cool to see the pictures. You literally see your optical nerve going into your brain. Loved it.
I would easily recommend this guy to anyone needing a new prescription or really anything vision related.

Robert Lopez is knowledgeable and has the best technology I have seen at an eye doctors office. He is prompt and friendly as is his staff. I love the location. Make a mid morning appointment and grab lunch at many of the wonderful spots on Wells.
Have been going to Dr. Lopez for several years now, which also makes the visit a little more personable.

I can’t give enough praise to Dr. Lopez and his staff for my experience with them. I have keratoconus and highly recommend anyone who has it to see this doctor. I am especially grateful considering the fact that I saw a cornea specialist (Chicago Cornea Consultants) last year and had a very dissatisfying experience. I won’t get into the details of that experience but instead mention all of the positives about this one. He has availability; you don’t have to wait weeks to get an appointment and he is on time for his appointments. He spends ample time explaining everything in a very clear manner. He genuinely seems to care that he is doing a thorough job and has done all he can to achieve the best vision and comfort with contact wear possible. He is really knowledgeable (more so than any other eye doctor I have been to). And the number one reason I recommend him is that I can see better than I have in a very long time!

I just had my first appointment with Dr. Lopez and don’t have a single complaint. Everything was perfect.

Dr Lopez is great, opticians were extremely patient and helpful and the selection of frames is good.

I went to Dr. Robert Lopez based on two reasons: 1) His practice at Occhiali is located directly below my house and 2) His price for an appointment for a contact fitting was cheaper than Costco! (Which surprised me!)
I was very, very pleased with my experience. I was called the day before to be reminded of the appointment. His staff offered to email me the initial forms so that I would be prepared for the appointment. They answered all of my questions thoroughly over the phone. I was greeted warmly by the staff when I entered. Even though they were helping other customers, they made eye contact with me to say, «Hello!» and let me know I was recognized and greeted.
I then saw Dr. Robert Lopez who was SO helpful. I had LASIK in the past so my contact fitting was to address a specific eye issue. I had seen the ophthalmologist who performed my LASIK for a follow up right before my apporintment with Dr. Lopez. This ophthalmologist is talented and nice enough, but only took two minutes of his time to tell me what my eye problem was. Dr. Lopez took the better part of an hour to take pictures of my eyes and really discuss what my eye issues are. He explained it in terms I understood. He was all around very, very personal as well as professional.
My only one problem was that I had to wait 15 minutes for my appointment. I arrived early to fill out the forms and was mildly annoyed by the wait. But meeting and working with Dr. Lopez, as well as the staff at Occhiali was a pleasure. And this pleasure outweighed the mild annoyance. I will be recommending them to anyone I know who is in need of an optometrist.

The staff here is great! I got a pair of glasses from here and they were so helpful in finding me the best pair to fit my face. So happy with the results! They are definitely great to work with and the level of professionalism is super high, without being stiff. I definitely recommend going in for a look around and checking this place out.

Ok I understand the difference in high quality and low quality, I understand the difference cost money. This place isn’t cheap, but the frames and cool and hip and expensive. No one put a gun to my head to buy two pair of over priced eyeglasses.
I buy a pair of Salt glasses about $ 800 with prescription lenses no big deal, the problem is the nose pieces are designed to be pushed into the frame. The long and short of it is, these nose pieces pop out thanks to the bad design. The associate who helped me even told me the same thing happened to her Salt glasses, ok! So an $ 800 pair of eye glasses are poorly designed because this happens to both of us –mind you these glasses are 1 week old. So she tells me the replacement nose piece is $ 5, I tell her I think that is a scam this product is poorly designed for obvious reasons. Her response is «we have to pay for these nose pieces too» I understand and I realize she is an associate not the owner, but if the owner doesn’t realize this product is flawed and can’t service a recurrent problem, they shouldn’t sell the product.
Avoid this store, the service is low rent while the prices are very high rent.

This is a awesome place with a very great staff. I had to have special contact lens with a difficult prescription and Dr. Lopez was great to work with and knew exactly what I needed. The staff here has superior customer service. Overall a terrific experience.

Dr. Robert was great! I came back to my office that day raving about him. As long as I live in Chicago I will not go to another eye doctor. I came to see him as a last ditch effort to improve my contact experience before exploring the option of lasik. I thought I would try dailies based on what other people have told me. He encouraged me to try other options before jumping into something significantly more expensive. I’m glad he did! He found a lens that was better for my dry eye and the right solution that I should use.
He spent over an hour with me, explaining different aspects of the eye and how it can influence your vision. I could tell that he was very passionate about his job and what he does.
Also, great glasses and sunglasses selection!

I stopped in this store during a concierge shopping tour of Old Town. I was extremely impressed!
They have a nice selection of brands and shapes. All of them are tres stylish. The folks working here were helpful and not too pushy. They don’t mind giving their opinion. I know I could never find «just the right pair» without another person’s eye!
The store is big, so take the time to cruise around and try on lots of frames. If you are a glasses addict, this is the chicest boutique for you!
