Sadly, we’ve had to use both Muzyka Funeral Homes to bury friends and relatives, I really prefer this one over the one on Chicago Avenue. By no means is there anything wrong with the one on Chicago Avenue and it certainly is much more convenient for those in the Ukrainian Village, but I cannot rave enough about how wonderfully we were were treated at Muzyka and Son on Lawrence Avenue. Basil(Michael) went WELL above and beyond helping us with the final arrangements for our family member. Trust me when I say there were more than«a few minor» snafus, but Basil(Michael) did EVERYTHING he could to straighten things out — and straighten out he did. Although he had a few clients to juggle, NEVER did we feel like we were rushed, ignored, or dismissed. Just the opposite — we felt like we were his ONLY clients. So comforting at such a difficult hour. We also dealt with Shannon for a bit, and although the contact was brief, it was just as if we were dealing with Basil(Michael) himself. So for all your«final» arrangement needs, please consider this funeral home — it will make a difficult situation a bit easier.

I am sure this is an odd review to read/look up/write. Muzyka and Sons was where my grandparent’s wakes were held. I was a child and had no idea what this entailed. Last year my father passed away suddenly(on Christmas eve no less) so we called Muzyka and Sons. So to Muzyka we went the day after Christmas. This time I was not only an adult, but leering from my father’s passing. Mike was there and friendly and helpful, as usual, with a kind word as needed. We worked with Shannon who was professional, organized, helpful and just knew everything and how to help us. She never tried to «up sell» expensive additions to the funeral, etc Muzyka truly does everything. She placed obituaries in the newspapers, had our ethnic radio station informed to announce my father’s passing, filed for death certificate(with additional copies), contacted our church, priest and cemetery. Created a beautiful digital collage of photos dug up out of albums in a daze. While I am sure most funeral homes will do many of these things, this is what sets Muzyka apart. 6 months after my fathers death they called to «check in» and see how our family was doing. Offered grief counseling avenues to anyone needed them or just offered to chat if that was what we wanted… Right before Christmas we recieved a package with a crystal ornament with my father’s name and dates of birth/death to have as a momento… All this long after the check was written. They had no other obligation to our family, had done their jobs(exceptionally well) and still took the time to check in and provide us with a beautiful momento. The reason they have been in business for so long is because they are truly good at what they do and really understand how to help you at the absolute worst times.
