I usually just get the price buster, which is $ 6 for standard cheeseburger, curly fries, and soda. The portion size is pretty good, I’m always full after eating it. The rest of the menu items seem to pricy in comparison, so I never get them. The food tastes pretty good considering the price, but I’m never all that compelled to come back that often. The interior is very small and dull. They’d probably attract more people if it looked nicer, but then they’d also have to work on the service time. It’s typically slower than a lot of places nearby, but it does seem to be made to order.

Not bad. A couple things I don’t like: No bathrooms. I know it’s a tiny little place, but you need bathrooms. The fries were cold. Other than that, a good, thick, burger on a brioche. Pretty good, and I’d stop there again if I were in the neighborhood. I had the one that has a horseradish sauce(can’t remember the name). I’d try another, or maybe a panini next time. And with a name like Mario & Gino’s you’d think there’d be beef and Italian lemonade. I didn’t try the gelato. Ever since al gelato in Elmwood Park closed, I’ve been disappointed with gelato, so I don’t bother. Kind of like how no one knows how to make a reuben sandwich. Anyway, I’d eat here again.

Service was slow! We ordered a burger and a grilled cheese. Tasty though

Pretty good place to catch a burger. I went here on a weeknight to pick up a quick dinner. Well, it wasn’t that quick. As they press each burger individually when you order it, you wait for quite a bit for your burger to be ready. I went with the special — $ 5.95 for a cheeseburger, fries(curly or sweet potato), and a drink. It’s the best deal on the menu. All the food was good, but nothing great. As others mentioned, the fries got cold really quickly. The workers seemed very nice though. I’m sure I will be back to pick up dinner sometime soon. Maybe I’ll even leave some room for the gelato next time.

Love living right by this place. Except for the fact that i want it all the time! The price buster is awesome. A great burger for $ 4.99 with a good helping of either curly or sweet fries? Yes please. Not to mention i also really love the buns they use. They also have really good gelato.

My boyfriend and I randomly stopped in to this place and we were glad that we did! We both ordered the Cuban Burger with curly fries. They were big, juicy, and delicious. The man working the counter was super friendly and helpful when we asked questions about the menu. We also noticed that they are BYOB, which is cool. We will definitely be returning to try out more of the menu.

A nice, little neighborhood burger place. Pleasant employees, quick service. Ordered a burger with curly fries, my friend ordered an Italian sausage with sweet potato fries. My burger was thick and juicy, and the fries were perfect. I tried some of the sweet potato fries, I’ll order them next time– they were light and delicious. I think my friend ate his sandwich too fast too fully enjoy it.

Pros –The food/Gelato was okay –The service was okay Cons –I would go back but def. nothing 2 die 4 –One of the owner’s sons(the shorter one, don’t know his name ) always looks mad. The taller one looks happier.

I recently discovered this nice little burger joint at the heart of Roscoe Village one night on the way home from the gym. After getting a $ 20 livingsocial deal in an email last month, I finally got the chance to try it out. Ordered a turkey panini and chicken panini to go, as well as a cookies and cream gelato. Both paninis came with a side of fries. I thought that the paninis and fries were tasty, and the gelato was good. Not that impressive, but I wasn’t expecting a gourmet meal either. Just something to fill me up, and my goal was accomplished. There’s another sandwich shop down the street that I often frequent; if I ever need an nice alternative I’d probably come back here.

eek! the italian beef is horrible. ZERO taste, dry, like leather. An italian beef sandwich is typically stuffed with meat, this had about 5 slices. The bread was even cheap with no taste. Really disappointing. On a positive note, the guy taking orders was totally swamped, but remained friendly, courteous and attentive to customer needs. I would go again to try something that isn’t «new» on their menu. Maybe they’ve perfected things that are their usual menu items.

Mario & Gino’s Burger Shop is a great little neighborhood joint. Great inventive burger menu and gelato. For gelato, try the bourbon pecan or mint chocolate chip. Both are really good, esp on a day like today. A little outdoor deck is also fun if it’s not too busy but… it’s byob and I can wait for that. Can’t wait to go again.

Love the outdoor seating, hilarious that it’s BYOB cuz its a burger/gelato joint. Loved the huge amounts of curly fries and sweet potato fries that are crinkle sweet potato fries. but… did not love the burgers. They were too dry and the… bland? Although I didn’t love the food, my BF thought it was awesome and he wanted it again the next time.

What a debacle. Mario & Gino’s performance at burgerfest this year resulted in one of the worst burger experiences of my life. Let’s walk through the process: 1) Order ½ lb cheese burger at cashier 2) Receive order ticket. Proceed to grill side 3) Watch grill guys cook burgers for 25 minutes until my order number is almost up 4) Watch grill guys run out of ½ lb patties 5) Watch grill guys make my burger with two thin ¼ lb patties that are charred to well done 6) Get burger. Eat burger anyway in fit of apoplectic rage. If you are a burger shop and you find it acceptable to serve two thin patties well done on top of each other, in lieu of one big ½ lb burger, you don’t deserve to continue doing business. This world would not miss Mario & Gino’s at all if they never served another burger.

We go(when it’s open) because we live very near by, I agree with others that it just feels off. The staff are as far from friendly as you can find and a couple of times have come and smoked beside the bench where their customers were eating their ice-cream — nice!

I was out walking in the neighborhood one day when I saw that they were finally open. I stopped in to check out the menu and had a burger and fries. The burger wasn’t bad, it tasted fresh. I really don’t eat meat much so that could be why I wasn’t in awe of it. TYhe curly fries were b.a. and the owner of the shop was really cool. He saw that I had tattoos and we talked for a good 15 minutes about his various tattoos and recommended shops. I will definitely be back to try the gelato and maybe then I will update my star.

IT’S A MIRACLE! Mario & Gino’s has finally re-opened after being closed for 2+ years! They are serving sorbet and gelato, and are always eager to offer samples. They have an array of burgers to choose from, and I am looking forward to trying their turkey burger. Generous helping of crispy curly fries top it all off. The place is super tiny, so get it to go or enjoy lounging on one of the benches outside. There’s still a month left of summer, so I’ll need to get more gelato before they close up again!

Too bad there isn’t a half star rating. This joint is the biggest example in Chicago, that I can think of, for a lost opportunity. This place could be a gold mine, with the location in an area bustling with new families and kids… The Ice Cream isn’t bad, but just average. Chicago has no place for just average when you have places like Scooters down the street. The service is the worst. Rude dudes that could careless and cursed at least two times in front of my child. They just don’t get it. If the owner really doesn’t care please sell the business to someone that can add to the great street instead of being lame… update: wow what a lame response by the owner, ‘if anyone knows of a better quality product please let us know’ are you kidding me! hate to me negative but this place needs to go.

This place won’t win any points for aesthetics, but the gelato was good and the guy behind the counter was great to me. First he gave me a bunch of samples that I didn’t ask for – flavors that I would usually eschew. Two of them(apricot and pistachio) I really liked, so thank you for broadening my horizons. Then, just as I was about to order, a bunch of kids came in and obliviously separated me from the cooler/counter area(you know kids – that combination of not having any idea of personal space plus the narrow focus on the obsession of the moment). They were followed by a gang of parents and then two other groups of adults and kids. I indicated to the guy to help the kids first, but after letting them ooh and aah and point for a few minutes, he insisted on serving me first. I got a scoop of mint chip gelato and paid $ 2.75, which I think is a very reasonable price. I considered tipping him a dollar, but there was an entire gang of kids between me and the tip jar. I thought about it all the way down the street, really kicking myself about how cowardly it was not to have tipped that guy, because he deserved it. I considered going back in, but by then I was too embarrassed. I should have just sucked it up. So I’ll go back to Roscoe Village and come in here again hoping to see this guy and give him two dollars to make up for it. Oh, and of course get another scoop of gelato and some fun samples too.
