Phở was great, spring roles were great. Didn’t have the Bahn mi, but it looked great for $ 5.

This is by far the best PHO place in Chicago. Their beef portions aren’t too big or too small. The smoothies are Amazing also.

The place reminds me of typical restaurant on Argyle in Uptown. Nothing too fancy or pretentious. I had marinated grill pork and pork egg rolls, really tasty! Waitress got the order wrong wanted the grilled pork chops, but it was still very good, didn’t wanna send it back so I just ate it. I’ve ordered delivery and it’s pretty fast and the so far the all the drivers have walked all to the third floor and delivered my food rather than call me to come down, so tip these drivers! The chicken phở is not my favorite because the chicken was pretty rubbery. Traditional phở that I’ve grown to eat since I was little is with thin slices of ribeye or pork meatballs, so that’s my fault for ordering chicken. Overall I will either order delivery or come to the location so I don’t have to travel to Uptown. BTW I’ve tried the beef phở and its legit.

In my opinion, this place is definitely not worth the 4.5 stars that it has. They are ridiculously overpriced for the lack of amount of food and flavor that you get. $ 15 for bo luc lac that came very rare. Like, it was jiggly. I don’t mind a little red on my beef, but when it is a huge chunk and seared maybe 1 minute, that’s just not enough cooked. It was jiggly!!! Ugh. The flavor was ‘okay’. Not as good as I’ve had. The green bell pepper and onion that accompanied the beef were cut so big, just like the beef. I would recommend them not being so lazy and cutting everything to be bite sized so that each bite can be enjoyed with a little bit of rice, onion, beef, and/or pepper, altogether. $ 5 for a teriyaki tofu banh mi sandwich. I never seen teriyaki accompany tofu on any menu before, so I thought I’d check it out. The teriyaki on tofu just doesn’t go. I would recommend them trying lemongrass marinated tofu, much better. The bread was extremely hard to eat. It cut up the inside of my mouth, which is one of my pet peeves. Fresher bread would be a better choice to avoid having to over toast stale bread. The pickled radish and carrots that tops the sandwich was nothing spectacular and tasted a little too much of vinegar. $ 8 for lemongrass beef with rice. There was absolutely no trace of lemongrass whatsoever, and wasn’t very tasty. Can be marinated longer and add lemongrass to an extent that the flavor can be tasted. At least it was plated nicely… P

Great phở, eggrolls are just incredible. Really nice staff, and the environment is so comfortable. The only bad side is that the menu is sooo big.

Decent phở here. The oxtail is a bit overcooked on high heat which gives it a hard gamy texture that gets stuck in your teeth. The service was a bit weird. The owners of the restaurant tried their best not to communicate with the guests, which I found odd. So they put a Hispanic woman in front as a waitress who is sort of the middle woman(between guests and owners). There was confusion with changing orders. I tried to speak directly to the Vietnamese lady but she never once responded to me to clarify the order only slight glare of frustration. The firecracker shrimp(appetizer) is very good with green onions and a mayo and ketchup sauce drizzled on top. The shrimp springrolls was an imitation of Brodards in Westminster, CA famous for their nem nuong springrolls wrapped with the eggroll crust. A-OK.(I apoloogize for the poor writing)

Quick efficient service. Quiet ambience, with mellow reggae tunes in the background. Phở was hot and flavorful. The veggies were super fresh. Family owned and operated. Children came in after school and got straight to their homework while sipping noodles.

I’ve only done take out, but this has become one of my ‘go to’ delivery places. They really prepare their take-out so that it is so fresh. Requires assembly and cooking on your part… but SODAMNEDWORTHIT. The broths are heavenly and the large phở is at least 3 meals!

A friend and I had been craving phở for a few weeks so we stopped in here during the week. It wasnt crowded but there was decent traffic for a random Wednesday afternoon. I ended up getting the baby phở sliced beef bowl and the lemongrass beef banh mi, each was only was only 5 $. The baby phở bowl was flavorful and perfectly sized. The sandwich was just okay, but id be back for the phở.

This place has a bowl of phở with all of the things I like(sliced beef, soft tendon, flank, meatballs) but not the one that I don’t(tripe), which would be enough to win my undying love. But there’s more! Fantastically rich broth and actual rare sliced beef, make this a hands down fave. Add fresh, homemade eggrolls to die for, super friendly service, and a very pleasant atmosphere, and LD Phở is my go-to phở spot for sure!

Went here on a whim a few days ago– the entrees were good but the service was great. I got the phở ga and the broth was just wonderful for this weather. We tried the deep fried Oreos after dinner– they came with apples which was a nice touch. Delicious.

The phở is amazing! I can’t say enough how great it is. The broth was delicious. Just one thing to keep in mind: there are two chicken phở options(with mean & shredded chicken). Even the vegetarian phở was delicious, the egg tofu were bomb.

Great phở, great service, and a nice extensive menu. I previously had been getting my phở fix from LC Phở. The partnership that originally owned the LC Phở location split and one owner now runs LC Phở and the other opened LD Phở, less than half a mile away. While LD has a somewhat more extensive menu with more Vietnamese and some other Asian options(ramen noodle stir fries, pad thai, etc.) the two restaurants are very similar. My go-to is veggie phở with beef broth. LD, just like LC, uses amazing egg tofu in their veggie phở rather than regular tofu and this makes all the difference. The veggie phở is filled to the brim with fresh veggies(onions, carrots, broccoli, mushrooms) and the beef broth adds an amazing flavor. If comparing LC and LD, the phở items are basically the same, with a slight difference in broth. I find LC’s broth to be a little more flavorful, but also more salty. The LD broth is a more muted flavor but not as salty. So it’s really all about your preference. The nice thing about LD is they have so many other non-phở options too and I look forward to returning to try many of them. Service is very warm and friendly and they are happy to make modifications or substitutions at your request. The restaurant is a simple hole in the wall(that is the ambiance you hope for when you’re eating phở) but everything is very clean and organized. Parking is easy to find right on the street outside.

I love this place. Clean small, authentic, Vietnamese, casual storefront restaurant. The service is amazing– the staff is warm, welcoming, and inviting. Server and owner were very sweet and attentive. The food was great. We got the baby beef phở(the smaller portion, but way more than enough for 2, love their broth), the shaking beef rice dish(amazing– stir fried beef with onion and peppers and side of white rice), and the spicy udon noodles(more Japanese, but great, as well). I also had an iced Vietnamese French coffee with condensed milk. It was my version of a perfect Vietnamese coffee blend: not overly creamy or too sweet like some places. I love the food and service, but one thing to note that it is a super casual mom-n-pop-shop storefront restaurant. So please be aware that if you come in winter, it is pretty cold with the door swinging open when people come in. I am okay with that as I am always warm, but my husband and other patrons left their coat on while they ate. So if you can’t take the cold, wait to come and eat their delicious food in warmer months. I am coming back. They have a huge menu. I need to try out other dishes, and their banh mi.

I’m Vietnamese and grew up near San Jose, CA — viet central. I’ve been up and down Argyle and after about 2 years of attempting vietnamese food in Chicago I’ve more or less given up on finding something that’ll satiate my occasional cravings. However, I heard this place is good so I decided to put my skepticism aside and try it. I ordered the bun bo hue and my friends had the phở. Hm. I would say. it’ll do. The bun bo hue broth was good but the noodles were pretty hard and there was so much of it that I had to take out the excess and put it on a separate plate. The beef slices were okay. There was also no chunks of gelatin blood which is the norm for this dish. My friend’s phở didn’t really taste very clean and their bowl seemed to be very sparse of noodles and meat… total opposite of mine! This is ideal for the broth lover but not phở lover. Maybe I’ll come back if I’m ever craving broth or need to replenish my hungover body but I’ll never go out of my way to come back. The owner was nice. he asked me if I was vietnamese. I asked him if he was too… nope, malaysian. Go figure.

I literally just ordered lunch from LD Phở for delivery, and it was exactly what I was hoping for. I ordered the ribeye house specialty dish, egg rolls and a baby beef phở to share with my husband. Considering it was delivery the food was everything I want in Vietnamese cooking. I loved the freshness and quality of the food. I only wish I had ordered the full size beef phở. I definitely will be ordering from LD Phở again very soon or paying them a visit in person to have some more tasty Vietnamese cooking.

I’ve been suffering from food fatigue for the last few months. Nothing sounds good to me, and part of that is that I’ve been having some bad luck with the stuff I’ve been ordering. Today I was craving a chili-cheese dog and onion rings, but to be honest, I was not prepared to pay over $ 20 to have Door Dash bring me one. So I checked out the new listings on GrubHub and found LD Phở, saw that the prices were good, and figured that I hadn’t had Vietnamese food in a while, so why not give it a shot? I am SO happy I did. I ordered the vegetarian phở, vegetable spring rolls, and the French iced coffee with condensed milk, and it was absolutely the best meal I’ve had since our home-cooked Thanksgiving dinner. The phở was so flavorful that I forgot it was supposed to be vegetarian. They pile on the add-ins. I got a bag filled with mint and bean sprouts, two cartons filled with rice noodles, veggies, and a hoisin-sriracha(I think) mixture that was amazing! I ordered it with the egg tofu, which I think is deep-fried silken tofu, and absolutely delicious even on its own. The spring rolls were nearly as good as the ones I used to get from the late, lamented Saigon Grill, and honestly? The phở was better, at least in part because it was vegetarian.(Really, I’m not ALL about the chili-cheese dogs. Not absolutely.) The iced coffee had a wonderful richness; I wish I’d ordered two. I also wish I hadn’t decided to be good and taken the deep-fried Oreos off the order because if anyone is going to do deep-fried Oreos right, it’s going to be these folks. Next time for sure. And there will be a next time. For less than I’d have paid for that dog and onion rings, I got enough food for two generous meals. You can’t beat that for value, and it’s a nice change to want to finish my leftovers instead of staring at them until they’re too old to eat and need to be thrown out. Food fatigue takes one on the chin today, thanks to LD Phở.

Warm, friendly, family-run Vietnamese. Great staff. Visible cooking area. Generous portions. They feature some items on the menu that are less common than at other places, which is a bonus. Everything I’ve ordered here has been tops. Enormous sized phở. Great pot stickers(veg, pork or chicken). Good spicing. An enjoyable dining experience. Typical Vietnamese family restaurant décor.

This is a great place that exemplifies the best aspects of a typical Vietnamese restaurant here in Chicago. It’s run by a young immigrant family. The owner is the cook and therefore always in the place, so you can count on it being consistent and attentive. His wife helps supervise and organize, and their children are helpful, buzzing around the dining room, serving water, helping translate, taking orders too, learning the business and being cute. The manager/major domo/head waiter(whom I originally thought was the owner) is a very friendly and helpful man. He is quick to suggest dishes if need be and has a good memory for returning customers(even if it’s only their second visit). He is welcoming and sets a great tone for new visitors. All of the staff are eager to please and very nice. If they appear shy, it is probably due to the fact some have a limited command of English. This restaurant’s environment is very basic: colorful walls and some decorations and a large TV for watching American football or other shows(with no sound so not annoying). Most important: it’s clean. Very clean. Each table is already well stocked with utensils, napkins and sauces, so it’s well organized too. It has an open air kitchen so you can see everything that happens in the«back of the house» which promotes honesty, cleanliness, and cooperation among staff. They’re busy, working to make our food, and you can tell that they are doing a good job. LD Phở’s menu is lengthy but not exhausting. It has plenty of appetizers, multiple variations of phở, plus many other Vietnamese dishes, and a little to my surprise, it also has a few other cuisines’ dishes such as pad thai and udon noodles — both of which are excellent. Everything I’ve ordered from this restaurant has come out hot, fresh, and delicious. Prices are right for the type and location of restaurant. There is also a daily specials board that changes regularly. A bonus is the fact that you can order a «baby phở»(like a baby cone at an ice cream store) so that if you want phở but not as your only food(because their regular sized phở is enormous like most Phở restuarants), you can pay $ 5 for a smaller portion. Now, let’s realize that this would be a very large bowl of soup at any other style cuisine, and you realize you’re getting a bargain. I would recommend this place to both the new-to-Vietnamese-cuisine eater as well as someone looking for a neighborhood spot that serves Vietnamese food. Patrons are fortunately a mix of all ethnicities including Vietnamese, so it’s evident that all are welcome and that the food is appreciated by not just the newly introduced, but also those who want and know authentic Vietnamese cooking. For example my friend who is quite knowledgeable about Vietnamese cooking mentioned that this place serves bun mam(a spicy seafood soup) not often found in our Chicago Vietnamese restaurants.

Rosa J. and family are soon leaving Albany Park for another Chi-town neighborhood. What she will miss the most is many quality restaurants on Kedzie near the Brown Line station. It was my first time at LD phở, but surely it won’t be my last visit. Hubby, Daddy J., and Mama J. spoke positively on LD phở based on their experience. The season change has been in favor of the consumption of phở. A large bowl of Phở tai no vien(beef slice and meat ball soup) sounded like a plan. We began our meal with the Vietnamese iced coffee with milk($ 4.00, as of 10/06/2015). I had to say they were pretty fantastic! I tasted a hint of nutmeg, and the sugar level was executed appropriately. Although the price of a large phở was on a higher side($ 9.00), I was delighted with the flavor of broth here. I don’t claim to be a connoisseur of Vietnamese phở, but I have started to develop a standard on a bowl of good phở. The«phở tai no vien» at LD phở this evening was yet the best one I’ve had so far. Hubby, on the other hand, ordered the sweet & sour tofu. He said he preferred the vegetarian phở he had last time. Our taste of Vietnam tonight came to $ 28 and some change. The service was friendly. It might be a minute detail and I happened to notice it. The owner stepped«aside» to refill our water without interrupting our conversations. After he was done with refilling, he politely«re-set» our glasses to the original positions. Even though we didn’t really have any question on the menu, I overheard that he enthusiastically answered other patrons’ questions. I could tell that he took pride for his work. LD Phở is located one(1) north from the CTA Kedzie Brown Line station. Miss the Red Line to Argyle where the«Little Vietnam» is? I believe LD phở is just as competitive as the ones one can find in Uptown.

I so glad to find this place. I can honestly say that this was my best dinner ever. The restaurant very clean, nice and friendly service, the food was so fresh and tasty(also come with amazing sauce). My family got 16 different order from the menu then we don’t have to wait long for our dishes, beautifully quick and delicious. My mom&dad never happy like that, they really enjoy the foods so we kept talk about that for 50minutes driving Lol. I strongly recomment everyone coming in and try it, i also hope this place closer to my house cause i wish i can come here everyday. Thank you !

Okay, so I don’t often give out five stars(although another welll deserved 5 star review for Supino’s in «the D» is coming soon), unless a place truly deserves it. Considering this place is new, I would have expected some growing pains, but if this place isn’t up to it’s full potential, then damn! They might need 6 stars to be fair. The service is friendly and very helpful, the atmosphere is simple, but clean, the aromas from the kitchen get you salivating the moment you walk in and of course– the Phở is brilliantly executed. I am excited to come back again(and again), to try more of the menu. LD is certainly worth coming back to again and again.
