My family and I have been coming here for quite sometime. Food is ok nothing compared to mothers cooking but it’ll do. The only improvement that needs to be made is keeping things in stock. The atole de Elote didn’t have any corn kernels. There was no sour cream for the rellenitos. Small little things that aren’t hard to improve. Overall place is just ok.

Guatemalans this is your place to be. They host tons of events and a lot of charities events too. Last time we went we celebrated my cousin birthday of a group of 10. We had great service and delicious food. I’ve only been here twice but my family has come here often. Wouldn’t mind going back and trying new things.

Being as I have yet to find an authentic Guatemalan restaurant in the city, I was excited to try this place out. There’s a great selection of Central American food but it just didn’t hit the mark, maybe because I compare it with my grandmother’s cooking. The food was alright, nothing exceptional. On the positive side, you get to try a lot of food for your money. I will say, we went early on a Saturday afternoon and the restaurant filled up fast.

Most authentic Guatemalan restaurant in the area. I ordered Garnachas, Tamal Chapin, Churrasquito, and Pache which is a kind of tamale made from potatoes. It was very tasty and delicious like home. Service was very attentive and friendly. Had a great experience. I will visit again to try other interesting dishes in the menu.

So my husband and I like wanted to try something different than the regular taco and burger joint and wanted it to include BYOB. Checked on Unilocal and found this local place and it totally hit the spot :9! We brought our own beer l, polish beer at 9+ alc vol for us mexicans. The bad thing was we had to get sone ones attention to take our order, they had a small party next door and were a bit busy serving their food but no biggie, we got someones attention and was really nice especially when i told her this was our first visit here. We ordered the pupusa dinner and chicharon con yuca dinner which hit the spot. Food was fresh and delish and we only paid $ 23.00 + tip. I would of gave a 5 star but i had to get some ones attn to weigh on me, that was one! Two, i had to use the restroom and had to interrupt the party next door to access the bathroom :(wish there was a side door to get to that more privetly, 3rd issue was they close at kitchen at 8ish and were cleaning to closes while the restaurant was kinda full still. This won’t make me not cone back tho, food was good i will just come earlier or order to take out :)

The food was alright, but the service needs some improvement. My family and I were excited of trying this place, because it is rare to see any Central American restaurant in Chicago, but the result were completely the unexpected! The waitress need to calm down on their attitude.

Before I begin: this is a BYOB! Another one of those hidden gems but Guatemalan style. I’d like to think that this was one of those restaurants I discovered. But of course it’s not. Hidden away in the streets of Central avenue lies a restaurant with real and authentic Guatemalan cuisine(well okay food). Our main entrée was ordering just appetizers, and between four of us I was amazed how full we did get. I mean chuchitos(which basically are homemade«sope» tortillas with the fixings of your choice. We had jorochos which are some kind of flower mixed in a batter and place inside the«sope» and let me tell you, I would eat these again in a minute. But wait, we also order the chicharones(fried pork skin) and it balanced out the chuchitos to the point of «AHHHHHHH. I’m telling you, the fact that an entrée is less then $ 8 is amazing but when you order appetizers and they fill you up, this is a good thing! I also had to have the atole de elote which of course is a corn drink thanks served warm and ever so delirious! My only negative is that they need to up the size. One thing I will point out is that the menu would be better if they also included the meals in English. I mean not a big deal but of course one of our party didn’t speak Spanish so we had to translate and still it was fine, but English subtitles would do. ANDY I never knew that you could park in the«free» parking lot across the street! And here I was adding almost $ 4 to park. Now I know, so for authentic real Guatemalan food, this is one spot I would come back again for. And also, it was Saturday so they have live Music in the other room so that alone should drag you out!

This is as good as it gets for authentic Guatemalan food in Chicago. I’m Guatemalan and I’ve tried several Guatemalan places in Chicago and they were all dissapointment. This is the first time I can say I’m going back if I’m craving Guatemalan food. It’s not as good as Antigua in Miami but it’s pretty tasty. I had the pupusas and chipilines. I would definitely recommend it for authentic Guatemalan food and I will be coming back.

It’s been just about a year since I started frequenting this fantastic establishment. The Garnachas are to die for, and the Pupusa de Garnacha is just as deadly!(In a good way, of course.) Plus, it ‘s BYOB, the staff will even bring you wine glasses and ice for your bottle. Fantastic service, incredible food.

My buddy and I dined at Latin Patio on a weekend evening, and it seems to be an unknown gem. Located on Central near Belmont, the casually quaint restaurant places an emphasis on Guatemalan food, and Central American food in general. While you can order basic stuff like tamales, the way to go is to order the sampler platter filled with sausage, pork, flautas, and yucca. But you gotta try at least one pupusa, or make a meal out of them and order several of them. The cheese and loroco pupusa(what the heck is loroco — a flower bud?) with some slaw is delicious. I washed it all down with passionfruit juice, as a quinceanera was going on next door. You can park across the street in a parking garage(for free!).

Comida autenticamente Guatemalteca.

I was there tonight to attend a fundraiser for a marimba band in Guatemala. The food was fabulous; definitely the best pupusas I ever had. At only $ 1.99 per, you could certainly eat a lot of them! But that wasn’t all by a long shot. The chicken dish we shared was flavorful and tender with being mushy, the burritos were good, both veggie and steak, and even the chocolate covered frozen banana for dessert was simple ad delicious. A meal for six, with horchata, came to $ 78. A great place! Spread the word.

OMG!!! PHENOMENALPUPUSAS!!! I cant believe Im the first on Unilocal to review this place. I’ve only driven past it a million times and never looked twice because I HADNOIDEA. I also ordered Kak ik which is a delicious turkey soup from guatemala. DELICIOUS!!! To drink I ordered MARACUYA. I had no idea what it was so I googled it. Its passion fruit juice. It was the perfect accompaniment to my Central American meal. I WIILRETURN!!! Taking some to go for my picky little Italian buddy. Only because I think its good for people to think outside the norm when dining out. You just MIGHTBESURPRISED!!! Definite THUMBSUP for Latin Patio.
