Very good tequila sunrise, margaritas not so good, hand made tortillas are delicious. I just don’t like their service. I can’t stand a waitress who can’t listen to your request while you are placing your order!

The service here is great, they start you off with a Mexican macaroni soup which to me was flavorless. The salsa de molcajete and chips are awesome! I ordered the green chilaquiles with steak, it came with rice and beans that were not very good. The chilaquiles could’ve of been a little less watery. I also had a homemade tortilla and it was good. The waitresses are very attentive and making sure your coffee cup is refilled. I think I can give it another try and order something else in the future.

The food here is pretty good the Mole is so good I recommend you do try! The service can be better by checking up on the costumers once in a while. The restaurant is clean and the food is good!

Terrible service ! I came with my in laws. First, they took forever to give us the menus. Then, the food took way too long to arrive. My mother in law ordered posole and had NO flavor. Tasted like pure water. She also ordered pancakes and said it tasted like fish. Pancakes wernt even cooked properly. I ordered eggs with chorizo and the chorizo was all burnt. The waitress never came to ask if we needed anything. We always had to call another waitress and all they said was they were going to go look for our waitress. Never again will we come back.

I have been here often usally it’s been good. Today it was awful ordered the steak and eggs, the steak was paper thin and small. The server never came by to ask if everything was ok and didn’t refill the coffee. I think this place has gotten bad because of arogence, never going back.

To start pretty good on service has improved since last time I came. Ordered a torta carne asada with everything it was ok a lil salty but then tried their chilaquiles and I was impressed. My opinion I give 4 stars for the save of the chilaquiles.

Las brisas del mar. One of those places that you visit and is just ok, not good enough to keep it in mind to come back but not bad enough to remember not to. I have been a few times and I gotta say some of their items are actually good, like their hand made tortillas and the quesadillas. But on the other side lingers the memory of the enchiladas de mole that were almost inedible. Last time I was here I had a quesadilla de huitlacoche and a steak huarache. The quesadilla was good and the huarache on itself was good but the steak was horrible, it was dry and had an odd taste to it. Service is nice and prices are comparable. This review is almost as bad as some of their food lol PS if you don’t know what hiutlacoche is, ask my friend, he’ll tell you, his name is google

I come here a lot! They have delicious food! Handmade tortillas and tasty salsa de molcajete. The dishes are delicious and since this business is family operated you always get treated great! Highly recommend this restaurant! :-)

Came here pretty late at night and there was just one other table in the restaurant that was also eating. I was visiting from out of town and was in the mood for Mexican food. I wasn’t very impressed with the food, my burrito was very dry. The portion size was a little on the larger size so I was only able to eat half of my burrito. I will pass on this place next time I’m in town. My search for a great Mexican restaurant on the South Side continues.

I attended this place for an event. The staff was very friendly and the food was perfect. The restaturant is superbusy. Price was decent. Plenty of parking and very attentive staff. They have security.

I have been here numerous times over the years(my in laws love it). The breakfast is pretty yummy if your looking a typical greasy Mexican breakfast, but the lunch & dinner is just okay. I’ve tried a few different things but usually resort to the tampiquena because the steak is decent. The only seafood I have tried is their shrimp cocktail which is decent. The rice isn’t that good either. Took away a star because some of the plates and side items(unspicey salsa!?) are bland and sometimes the place is loud when its packed and instead of just leaving the music and TV’s at a regular volume they turn it up even higher making the situation even worse.

I came here with people who said this place was way better than one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, Nuevo Leon in Pilsen. I had chicken and shrimp fajitas, and they were just Ok. Personally, I think that part of the fun of ordering fajitas is when they come sizzling on a hot plate, and they just came normal. There weren’t enough grilled peppers and onions, and their rice wasn’t that good, either. So my meal was just«eh.» I normally order chicken enchiladas at most Mexican places, and so I regret not ordering that to compare to other restaurants. Ok, a few compliments: 1) I was surprised they gave me enough shrimp, and the shrimp was very delicious. This is probably the place to go to for seafood; everyone I went with ordered shrimp. 2) They make their corn tortillas there, and they are very good. 3) Their guacamole is very good, but it’s just guacamole. I would never come allll the way to the South side just for guacamole. Finally, I was very, very excited to see that they had mamey milkshakes because I hadn’t had mamay-flavored ice cream since the last time I was in Mexico. It was the absolute worst milkshake ever. It only had a very tiny hint of mamey and just tasted like really thick milk. My mom, who loves mamey, thought it was disgusting. I had 2 sips and threw the rest out. Being so let down by the milkshake pretty much ruined my whole experience. Honestly, especially since I live on the North side, I’ll never come back here again. I’ll stick to Nuevo Leon and Café El Tapatio.

The tortillas are very impressive, indeed. As for the rest, it’s middling to bad: (1) the grilled meat for my tacos was only alright — neither good nor bad; (2) the nacho chips are either recycled or there is cross-contamination between the chips being discarded and new ones being put in the baskets(I found a chip that had obviously been used before in my second basket of chips) — that’s a bit gross; and (3) once I finished my meal, my waitress took away most of my dirty plates and then appeared to ignore me for the better part of 30 minutes; I had to ask another waitress to get my bill. Odd, but whatever. I won’t be back.

I know tacos, from Lengua to Cecina This is one of my favorite places. I have been to Zacatacos, Pacos, street carts, Maxwell street, I have been to Pilsen and the West side, the North side, etc. These are my Faves. The staff does not speak very good English and if you try to show off your 6 words of Spanglish they will just start talking to you like you are their Hermano. The staff is always smiling and laughing, a welcome sight, the vibe is nice although the big screen will usually be airing the prime time soaps at about 75 decibels. What seperates Las Brisas from all the others is La Señora, every time I walk to the back door I take a peek into the kitchen and there she is, making tortillas by hand, she makes them for every order to order, they are tender and almost have the texture of wheat, but with that earthy sweet corn taste. One of the best tortillas I have ever had consistently. Their salsa is as unique as the smiling attitude, The sign outside reads salsa de molcajete, that means old school. How old? About a couple thousand years of tradition. Most home cooks and restaurant cooks use blenders for their salsa, Brisas uses a morter and pestle, the salsa is still hot, I don’t think it is the best salsa by any stretch of the imagination, but it is beautiful and I am in love with the concept of someone bashing chiles, tomatoes, and garlic together just for me. The menu is large, excellent Shrimp dishes, the steak dishes are great with ample sides, but the standouts are the enchiladas estilo Guerero(sic) fresh handmade tortillas with chicken and a bright red chile sauce and just a sprinkle of aged cheese, served with rice that is always fresh and not all crunchy and some of the best refritos ever. The refried beans are also representative of the detail in this restaurant, you can taste the toasted onion and the texture is always creamy instead of pasty, delicioso. As far as the Tacos go, the el pastor is a no brainer, tender crispy roasted pork with just a hint of pineapple wrapped in the aforementioned freshly made tortilla and garnished with the ubiquitous cilantro and onions, simple and absolute perfection. I have eaten here 20 times and have had only one dissapointment, the dish escapes me, too much good to dwell on the negatives. The only thing I would stray away from is the chicken tacos, they seem mundane in comparison, besides why would you eat chicken tacos? Other good choices, Enchiladas mole poblano, carne asada, taco de lengua(tongue) To put this into perspective, if I had to chose one taco from the Chicago area to eat before I died it would be the El Pastor from Las Brisas Del Mare. One word of caution, if you order a beer, ask for no salt, unless you like a lot of salt on the rim. So please go now eat Tacos with hand made tortillas, drink Modelo with lime and be smiled at.
