Ok so first let’s start by saying service was fast and food was hot. But how can you say you serve Chicago style dogs without the neon green relish or the tomatoes. Or celery salt. Food was good but I just feel I missed the whole experience.

Ordering is short and to the point — whaddya want? Everything on it? Parking is nuts, so DBF dropped me off and circled the block, which appears common. We split a Polish(with everything) and the accompanying fries. The Polish was cooked just right, hot all the way through and with a good snap to the casing. The fries were crispy outside but fluffy inside, and I devoured my half on my way back to the pickup point. They take card, which puts them another step above Original Maxwell Street – much easier to track expenses when you’re traveling on business.

Was in the area and my friend was hungry and craved a burger so we stopped by this place to get 2 hamburgers and a polish hotdog. The hamburgers were not the best, we basically just got a bunch of mustard, on a patty and bun. There was no flavor but the mustard. My friend didn’t even want to finish hers but I did since I don’t like to waste food. The polish hotdog was better and the friend were also very good. I don’t think we will come back, I’d prefer to go to Wendy’s since it seems their junior bacon cheeseburger is the same price and has more toppings and flavor. The staff was very friendly and so I will give them 3 stars.

Express Grill right next to them reminds me of how Pat’s and Geno’s is in Philly.(Jim’s is the Pat’s in this comparison). Food here is so good, we had to make one last stop before leaving Chicago. Pork chop sandwich is delicious and messy, fish sandwich with cheese is amazing, and the fries are some of the best fries I’ve ever had. The hot dog is a-ok but the sandwiches are what you need to get. Also the peppers, my god are those things hot! Don’t bite down on them all willy nilly or you’ll regret it for a while.

Delicious hot dogs and sandwiches with great prices and Chicago history. Pulled up in my car for the first time on a cold winter day, ran to the window, got my Polish sausage within a couple minutes, and promptly ran back to my car to chow down inside. Saw many others do the same. Great stop for a quick bite any time!

Ordered the Polish Sausage and Pork Chop. Both were okay. Nothing special. Fries were better than average. Not a must go in Chicago.

Hell yes. 24 hour place. Get the polish with grilled onions and fries on your first visit. For your second visit(because you will be back) get the grilled porkchop sammie. This is the best place to go when you are fine with saying screw the low carb, non-gluten, low salt, no fat, paleo bandwagon folks… I want some greasy goodness and I want it now. This is a true Chicago gem. Screw you NY and LA. Try to compete with Jim’s!

Childhood favorite for a «Jewtown» polish. I will NOT patronize any other knock off Maxwell polish stand! It’s this Jim’s or NOTHING! I love the Polish with extra onions, mustard, and hot peppers w/a seven up. I also love the bone in porkchop with their infamous onions and peppers. This was actually my 1st restaurant of 2016 to get food from at 4am after I got off work 1÷1÷16. Not much more to say than if you haven’t tried this you’re not living!

I really enjoyed the food here. A small corner stand with big flavor. I had the polish dog and it was by far one of the best I’ve ever had. The entrees come with fries so you don’t have to pay extra for them. The sautéed onions were full of flavor. I was told this was one of the best hot dog/polish stands in Chicago and I believe it. Just don’t take my word for it. Try it!

If you want an original Chicago hot dog experience, this is your spot. Locals will all agree that Jims is your go to for that perfect greasy hot dog. Ordering from a window is as real as it gets. This was a perfect last minute quick stop for my friends touring Chicago and wanting the true food experience. Sensitive stomachers beware though, it’s as greasy as the place looks. All combos come with fries also!

We reached here late at night. It was a cold winter night and the place had perfect food to warm us up. I ordered the polish dog! It was cooked perfectly and the peppers were super spicy. Yum! Did I mention the price is amazing too.

Sloppy, greasy food right off the highway. The only way they could make it more convenient is if you didn’t even have to stop to pick up your food!

This place is a little gem! The hamburgers and hot dogs are so amazing, they are made to order and you can top them with kraut. I had the double cheeseburger with sourkraut and my husband got the loaded hot dog. Both were very good however the hamburger is the winner in my book. if you are getting fries you have to get the cheese cup, its a little side dipper of hot cheese… yum! I would be a repeat customer of this place if I wasnt just visiting.

Yessssah!!! This polish hot dog was the bomb! Ok let me say first off that I am NOT a huge fan of mustard. So when I heard this dog would be dressed with mustard, I almost said forget it. Then I was told that it has grilled onions(love ‘em) & hot peppers. Annnnd they sold grape soda(a childhood favorite). Helloooo nostalgia! First(second, third…) bite = fantastic! I love that this dog has s rich flavor but not the weird flavor that gives the diner heart burn. Not even with the mustard, onions & peppers. Now that’s a feat! The staff was fun & encouraging. They need was traveling and do joked about getting the works. That’s what I got. Their best polish dog. Definitely worth the trip. Speaking of trip. Know that to get to this place you’ve gotta go to the end of Maxwell St,(pass the Indian, Japanese & breakfast restaurants, check out the signs & sculptures about the history of this street) go under the brick awning that says maxwell st. & turn left on union. NOTE: there are TWO hot dog places about 6 steps away from each other. Be sure you go to Jim’s. THAT’s the one THIS Review is based on. Enjoy!

Jim, Jim, Jim… I need to quit you lol. My first meal near UIC– both when I was interviewing here and being privileged to live close-by. This shack has been around for what seems like generations(70+ years to be exact). This is a no frills, sandwich/burger joint with some damn good Polish dogs. Every single meal comes with fries as well, which are some of the best I’ve had in the city. Prices are dirt cheap, tax included, but make sure when they ask you if you«want everything on it,» to specify whether you want cheese, cause that’ll be 50 cents more. If you’re looking for cheap, albeit basic fast food for post drinks or just when you’re feeling super greasy, then Jim’s is perfect for you. Worth a try if you’re in the area, or if you visit me in Chitown, I’ll take you there. Parking is available around the shack and can get busy! PS: Who owns the shack next door?! They essentially price match with each other! Maybe Jim has a brother he’s trying to compete against.

Seriously… it’s 24⁄7 so whether its a late night snack, morning walk of same or just hungry for lunch, this place always hits the spot. First off, it’s dirt cheap and all the sandwiches come with fries. Second, the staff are all super chill work quickly to get your order taken care of. Never had to wait more then 5 minutes even at peak rush hour. So while the menu is quite small and simple, the do these basics very well. Personally I am a huge fan of the cheeseburger and fries combo but the Polish dog was pretty solid as well. Also, there is plenty of street parking on both sides of the street.

This is a pretty good place to get a bite. Food is pretty good and cheap too, not to mention the fact that just about everything comes with free fries! Favorite thing I’ve gotten here is the Polish, it’s juicy and comes loaded with onions that were grilled and caramelized to perfection. Burgers are very good and not too greasy, hotdogs are good as well but even though it’s a hotdog stand, not my first choice. As far as lines and speed of service goes, you have to be mindful of when you go. Lunch time is pretty packed most of the time. If you wait about 30 mins or so after the«typical» lunch time, you should be in n out pretty quick . Parking is the biggest issue, street parking only and lots of people double parking makes it a bit of a hassle. Other than that, this place is awesome for a quick bite.

Not sure if I was really hungry or if Jim’s is just that great! My friend brought me after my flight landed at 1am. It was so freaking cold and we were just standing outside eating our polish dogs! The polish dogs are good, especially since they add carmelized onions. I don’t normally like mustard, but I didn’t mind having them in this. The polish dog also comes with a side of fries that are piping hot! They are so fresh and yummy. Especially when it’s so cold outside! The best part is that the polish dog is $ 4 and Jim’s is opened 24⁄7! Very satisfying and inexpensive for a late night meal.
