First time in Chicago and this was my first stop. The Bacon Guac sausage was so good and the Cheddar fries were great too. Sad to see the storefront closing, but the truck is still rolling.

I found the Haute Sausage storefront location and had to stop in. It was a weekday around 11:15am(I like to leave for lunch early to snag a seat at any downtown spot). Their sausage menu was very interesting(bison, brats, and gator), but I settled on the Cabo Fish Tacos and I was not disappointed. I’m a sucker for good fish tacos and the flavor of these was outstanding. I went with a side of yucca fries and I was in heaven. So, so good!

Seriously; you can’t beat a good Haute Sausage. I’ve enjoyed Haute for the last year, and this is my first review… you can’t do better sausages in Chicago! Get yourself a sausage! That’s all I got… P.S Go Gator if you can… Mmmmm

Very had to justify spending $ 12 on something that doesn’t fill you up… It’s good for sure and worth checking out once, but I don’t think I can come back here more than that unless they reduce their prices. It could be a place I come to twice a month if they did.

The Haute Sausage truck, like many other food trucks, is one that I’ve tentatively had on my to-do list for a while but(somewhat unfairly) always passed over for a tried-and-true one. Today, the stars aligned and none of my usual haunts were parked near my office, so I paid them a visit. Their truck menu, as other reviewers have noted, is generally a pared-down version of the full menu that I would guess they serve at their physical storefront — so check Twitter to see what they’re serving before you head out! While considering the options, I wondered to myself how exactly they serve the sausages — do they just give you a sausage by itself, do they serve it in a bun? I watched as they handed someone else’s order to them — it’s served hot dog style, but the bun is more like a slice of thick Texas toast. Perfect for me since I actually prefer that to hot dog buns. I ordered the bacon guacamole, which is a bacon sausage(I’ve never heard of this before and I’m glad I know it exists now) with some cheese filling and topped with roast corn guacamole and chipotle mayo. Oh. my. freaking. goodness. The sausage was perfectly cooked, still piping hot when I got back to my office, and the exterior was super crisp. The bun, as I mentioned, is like Texas toast, which is even better than a hot dog bun since it’s crispier on the outside(no more mushy, soggy buns!). Guy working in the truck was very nice, food came out quickly after ordering, and there wasn’t a huge line even at 12pm. A little on the pricey side at $ 10 for a hot dog, but it was a reasonable portion IMO(maybe not enough if you have a big appetite) and delicious. I’d come back if they’re in the vicinity of my office again.

I scouted out their menu and tracked them down online. I headed over to order the smoked gator sausage, but was let down because the truck menu is limited. Extremely limited to only 3 – 4 sausages, no yucca fries, or street food. I was disappointed and considered leaving but ended up ordering the bacon guacamole, which made up for the initial disappointment. It’s a bacon sausage with Merkts cheddar, roasted poblano and corn guacamole and chipotle mayo. It came with a side of bbq chips. $ 10 even. That combination is pretty damn good! Great bun, the sausage had a snap, not overly salty and all the toppings mix well together. The chips were chips; I really wanted yucca fries. A trip to their storefront will be planned. p. s. they accept debit/credit cards.

I had the gator dog and didn’t know I was eating gator. Not knowing what gator really tastes like, it was delicious! The jalapeño bbq sauce with pineapple and cornbread worked my taste buds to flavor town. Towards half way of annihilating it, I did feel that that it was a bit too much bread. And let me tell you about the yucca fries. I’ve never had that either, and boy do I love them. Sweet, savory, hard and meaty potatoes. This was a interesting surprise to be honest. What a treat :) There are other dogs on the menu as well as other street food and I can’t wait to come back to Chicago to try them out!

4.5 Stars I didn’t even know a Haute Sausage storefront location existed until I went on the Giftie app.(Thanks Giftie!). I received an email to download the giftie app and a promo code for free restaurant coupons and chose Haute Sausage. I had Haute Sausage on one other occasion, but from the food truck. These sausages are good! Today I had the Peppercorn Steak. In the description it said Belgian Frites, so I was sort of expecting that on the side. Little did I know they came on the sandwich and it was spectacular. The buns these sandwiches come on are delicious! Another one worth mentioning is the Bacon Guacamole. Not good if you don’t like cheese, but excellent if you do. I also need to mention the customer service at the store front location. I went in very apprehensive about using this giftie app and at first she couldn’t figure it out, but reassured me we would get it working. She kept thanking me for my patience when I felt like I should be thanking her. We were able to figure out how to redeem it(make sure the owner slides using their finger to the right and redeem button should come up) She was so sweet and even gave me other restaurant recommendations to try on the app. I got this meal for free, but I plan on going back because 1) they have good food, but 2) the customer service was outstanding. Can’t wait to try more sausages! :)

Before I ever started working by the brick-and-mortar location, I’d get excited every time the Haute Sausage truck was around. Now that I work around the corner, though, I’m here at least once or twice a week. Go for the Chicago-style bison dog, or really anything. The staff are great, the dogs are creative takes on old meat sticks or new ideas altogether.
