HAIR!!! I read the other reviews and figured this would be a good place to order from on a rainy Saturday night. After taking nearly an hour to get here we opened the greasy bag to find some disappointing looking Chinese food. If it wasn’t raining we probably would have trashed the stuff and head out for a quick bite to eat, but we were stranded with the stuff. We attempted to eat burnt egg rolls, cream cheese(not crab) rangoon, and spring rolls that would have been fresh last spring. Now here’s the best part, I found a HAIR fried into my sweet and sour chicken!!! I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, but if you have to please ask them to keep the HAIR on the side!

Jade East, what has happened to you? We’ve been ordering from Jade East for a few years and have been satisfied with their food and service. Today? WTF, Jade East? First, if your egg rolls are no good, I am not interested in your food. And today, Jade East’s egg rolls were horrible! They obviously went to a different vendor, and the egg rolls were tasteless and had a horrible wrapper — more like a spring roll than an egg roll. And no mustard with our egg rolls. How can anybody be expected to eat an egg roll without Chinese mustard? I can’t, that’s for sure. And they’ve also changed their crab rangoon. Probably the same vendor. Awful. Can something be more tasteless? This is. We probably should have just called it a day, but we went on to eat our entrees and were equally disappointed by the tofu as everything else. The chicken chow mien was edible. (To add insult to injury, the food was really late. Then the delivery guy stood in our foyer claiming that he «couldn’t hear» the buzzer to allow him into the inside door and upstairs. The buzzer that allowed him in the outside door. The buzzer that everybody in the building and everybody on our freakin’ street could hear. Lazy a** made my husband run down the stairs to get our food.) I called to tell them how disappointed we were, so that they can go back to their old vendor(and deal with their lazy ass delivery man) but they didn’t answer the phone. Third strike. We’re done with Jade East.

Had a hankering for Chinese and ordered from Jade. We got the dinner special — 2 entrees, huge chicken fried rice, 4 rangoons and 2 egg rolls for $ 20?! Is that the best deal in town or what?! And it was good, like really good. We picked up 15 min after we ordered and the food was still hot once we walked home. Will order from again soon!

Ordered Jade East last night with a friend. The food hit my normal standards for their product but the delivery service was absolutely terrible. It took me one hour and fifty-eight minutes to get my food. My estimated time was 40 minutes. I called the restaurant after an hour and they said that the driver would be arriving in a minute or two. Twenty minutes later I get a call and my driver is apparently at Addison and Southport, not Clark and Waveland. He calls back ten minutes later and says that he is walking up to the door. I decide to go meet him downstairs except he isn’t there. He shows up another ten minutes later in a car, honks at is me and my friend and shouts«delivery!» He gives us the food — which is now cold even though he says it’s warm. We had cash that we were planning on tipping him with so we said $ 0 on the receipt. He gets mad, yells at us and DEMANDS a tip. So rude. Jade East may have lost my business.

Worst take-out food I’ve had in Chicago so far. Don’t order the lo mein.

Terrible service and ridiculously slow delivery. We live probably 5 minutes from the restaurant and we have had multiple time where they have taken over an hour and a half, with the most recent time being 2 hours. When we have called to ask what is going on and where our food is, the service is very rude and not helpful in the slightest. I would not recommend ordering from this place.

This is definitely my go-to place for delivery. The food is AMAZING and so, so cheap — for $ 16(dine-in OR delivery) you can get 2 entrees, crab rangoon, rice and egg rolls. It ends up being enough for at least 4 meals. The owners and staff are also the nicest people — they were so friendly and always asking if we needed anything. We felt like we were at someone’s house for dinner when we ate there and it was actually super charming — they even asked us what we wanted to watch on the TV in there!

Yuck. Ordered 4 staples, Generals’ Chicken, Shrimp Fried Rice, Pot Stickers and Spring Rolls and only the Fried Rice was worth eating. The rest went into the trash. Very disappointed, I suggest you look elsewhere.

The food is AMAZING. They kind of messed up my order but it’s partially my fault because my friend and I ordered separate checks. We got so much food for the price! Delivery fee is very minimal and speed of service is great! Will definitely order from them again!

General TSO has nice balance of sweet and spicy. Breading is perfect with moist chicken inside and seasoned well. Chicken fried rice is not greasy and has good flavor. Crab Rangoon done right, crispy outside with right amount of filing an d flavor. Waitress super nice. Décor outdated but who cares as long as food is good. Would eat here again!

I think we can all agree that Chicago is a Chinese Food wasteland. I may be used to New York Cities late night deliveries and Chinatown, with it’s never ending options but I never expected to go months on end without decent General Tso’s when I moved to Chicago. I’d lost hope until Jade East. Also, dumplings. CHICAGO, where are the dumplings?! The dinner for two is an enormous amount of food It’s more than enough for 2 meals for each person, which is insane. $ 16 gets you chicken fried rice, 4 crab Rangoon, 2 egg rolls and 2 entrees. Also delicious: Honey Garlic chicken, Hung Sue, chicken pot stickers, General Tso’s and all things fried tofu related. Five stars for being delicious, infinite stars for the fact that my 6 piece order of chicken pot stickers came with 8, they sent an extra egg roll for no apparent reason other than being awesome, and they tossed in cookies. Also can I mention how incredibly difficult it is to find a Chinese Restaurant that puts chicken in things instead of pork? Chicken wontons, pot stickers and eggrolls? Yes.

I didn’t see the best reviews for this place but hey, I live right next door. I love the food! The facility is a bit ‘janky’ inside and I would NOT recommend coming here to dine-in. But, this place definitely is your take-out, dinner & a movie at home kind of food. Their honey garlic chicken is my absolutely favorite and I always order their fried rice. They seem to throw in an egg roll or two crab ragoos with each order but don’t give you any sauce or plastic-wear. I would order on grub-hub or through their website because they don’t understand english well.

Since I can remember, when at my parents’ place on a Saturday night, Chinese food is on the table. For many years, the Chinese food of choice has been from Jade East. It’s exactly what I expect from Americanized Chinese food, with well above average customer service(which is probably in part from the number of years that they’ve enjoyed our family’s business). They forgot our mu shu pancakes on a recent order that we picked up, and without our calling them, they realized the error and showed up at our house with the pancakes and some extra I’m-sorry egg rolls. Reliable, well priced, and tasty! Glad they’re in the neighborhood.

A-OK is a very accurate description. I came here yesterday during my lunch break between classes. Surprise, surprise: I’m a DePaul student. Anyway, I was craving Asian food and wanted something cheap. A quick«nearby» search on my Unilocal app presented this place to me. I came around 12 and I was the only one inside. Décor was obviously old, but nice. The woman there quickly brought me a menu and was very polite. She obviously had limited English skills, but she was genial and still could explain the lunch specials. I ordered the General Tso’s Chicken lunch. It was like $ 6.50 and I got the chicken, chicken fried rice, and an egg roll. The food came out fast and the dish was very full. The egg roll was good, but not great. The fried rice was very forgettable and had way too many bean sprouts. Kind of a disappointment. The chicken itself was good, but not great as well. Overall it was good, but not worth seeking out. If you’re in the area and craving some decent Asian, go for it. If you’re looking to be impressed, go somewhere else.

I’ve seen some negative reviews of this and other Chinese restaurants lament that the food served was not authentically Chinese. But I wonder how many of us have grown up eating authentic Chinese food. This is pretty much your run-of-the-mill Americanized Chinese restaurant serving the standard dishes. They have very good vegetable eggrolls, tomato and green pepper beef, spicy garlic chicken, and Szechuan beef. The owners are friendly and inviting. The décor is nothing stellar, but the food is pretty solid.

Jade East is my go to chinese delivery after trying out just a few others and being generally disappointed in the other ones that either change the menu or preparation of items, food is inedible or it’s just too damn expensive. I have come to realize that this is the most consistent and reasonably priced option that delivers to me in Logan Square. First of all, having the smaller portion size available for around five bucks is a good start. They also delivery quickly and tend to throw in something extra in there, be it an egg roll(they’re ok if eaten hot like most fried things) and today I also got 2 almond cookies along with my fortune cookies. Thanks! Also, it appears that they are using decent quality ingredients; if I do order chicken(trying to eat less meat) it doesn’t look like mystery meat… today I got pretty standard rainy day fare… shrimp fried rice(did need a little soy sauce but like that I get to choose how salty to make it), chicken and string beans(crunchy beans, good mushrooms, large pieces of onion and sauce was flavorful) and egg drop soup(to the point, plain, hot and comforting). Nothing too fancy, I just crave that soup sometimes; like today as I’m nursing a cold, as plain as it is just hits the spot, and it’s low WW points(ha ha… to make up for the fried rice I guess). So, for 3 items and delivery it was $ 17.30 all the way to Logan…$ 21 with tip… that’s cheap folks, I have 3 or 4 meals now… Also, I never feel sick after eating this food and i am pretty sensitive in the stomach and MSG makes me feel like I swallowed a balloon so that says something I suppose too, so I will keep ordering this when I have a craving!

I am a huge fan of chinese food, but finding the right place where you get quality foodfor the right price has been difficult after moving to the Lakeview/Lincoln Park area. I finally fell upon Jade’s one day… and it was a day I wasparticularly craving a certain meal and certain items and I wanted my way… and thatsjust what I got. They gave me crab rangoon… actual full and great-tasting crab rangoon and not just 2 or 3, but 6 for a great cheap price. The noodles were excellent and they made everything i wanted even with my weird directions and suggestions. They even gave me extra drinks! Andmight I add they delivered it fast and hot and for an extremely reasonable price. Absolutely my favorite place these days!

Scene: A hungry DePaul student, classes solid from 9:40 to 2:30, no time for lunch. No breakfast was consumed. Intense starvation and craving for something heavy, greasy, cheap. Something that will get me all the way to bedtime. Dominick’s salad bar is not going to cut it this time. Burrito joint??? Not feeling it. McDonald’s? Definitely not. Chinese Food. Yes. I love Chinese food, while I prefer the authentic and experimental, I have a soft spot for the gloppy and greasy. I’m also attempting veganism. Not sure if it was vegan but the General Tofu was awesome. Hit the spot. Halfway through a huge portion later, I was appropriately sick. Expected, no stars off. The only negative point(is this fair?) is that the dining room was empty. It didn’t even smell like a restaurant. And I felt awkward. Oh well. Service was good and they didn’t charge me the advertised $ 1 for credit card fees(I just tipped extra…). I’ll be back the next time I’m craving and stuck at school, but Chinatown or Friendship if I have time.
