Cozy and elegant little(tiny!) bar, with very well-crafted cocktails. The bartender was attentive and knew his craft. You’ll find many«top shelf» ingredients, as well as being a short walk to some of the best dining in the city.

Happened upon this bar by chance because a friend was staying there. Was surprised to find street parking on a Friday night after 6 pm and with snow on the street. Giving them four stars because I didn’t have the food. The décor is lovely with comfy sofas, chairs and a great fireplace. Nice selection of wines and beer(very decent bottle of sparkling for $ 30) and our bartender was lovely. Although she was serving people at the bar, she was nice and came over to bring our drinks over to where we were sitting. The beer was nice and cold and they had a pretty good selection. Being a regular at the Hopleaf, I was impressed that bartender actually knew about the beers on the list when asked. Overheard her explaining to an out of town couple the differences between several beers to help them figure out what they would like to drink. The bar is small and intimate, perfect for having a drink and a conversation without having to yell. With that being said, it doesn’t take too many people to fill the space up. They do have a food menu but I didn’t order anything. A friend did order a burger and said it was very good. I have some of his fries and have to say they were were tasty.

Doubled my pleasure during my stay in Chicago and went to the Hotel Felix bar for a light lunch/drinks and back the next day for breakfast. Very laid back nice atmosphere. If you’re in the area stop by and have their burger.

Friday and Saturday nights they have live jazz band — and they are good. The bar itself is not very big, but will manage for a small group. Not for 25 and under kind of place unless you are unusually calm for your age.

So… Chi-town seemed to be lacking on the cocktails. I thought it would be a good idea to check out a local hotel bar as they are usually at least holding their heads above water in the cocktail world. I walked in it was dark and brown and a little old mannish, which is fine, I love a good old man bar. I bellied up to the bar and was greeted shortly by a petite blonde woman. I ordered the Blackbird, which was gin, blackberries, simple syrup and soda. It was lovely and refreshing. I stayed to finish my drink as they were closing early. I eavesdropped on the couple next to me talking about a bar with board games. All in all not a bad bar or a bad time, I’m sure I’ll be back.

We stopped at the Hotel Felix bar to have a few drinks before dinner last weekend. Great service and the drinks were fantastic as well. We ordered an appetizer from the restaurant and the pizza was fabulous. Yum, I think I’m still craving it now…

I read Michael S’s review, and this bar may have best, most interesting bar tenders around. This place is a gem. Most have not heard of Hotel Felix, but it is a European Style boutique hotel. Small, modern but inviting lobby with an unassuming bar hidden in the corner. Bordered by a fireplace and comfortable couches, it seems a great place to read and relax by yourself on a slow night, or in our case this night, a place to meet an interesting mix of people and to discover the best bar keep I have met in a long time. Sara(I can’t even call her a bartender, she’s a bit more Zen-like than that as it turns out) kept us libated as we discussed business(too much business). Eventually my colleague and I were called out by a few patrons for being entirely too serious. We eventually agreed and approached the bar. Interesting mixed crowd. However, Sara, as it turns out, is not merely a supplier of drinks… she’s alot more. Part entertainer, part psychologist, part creative genius, model, great observer of life… with a great smile but certainly not over indulgent to the clientele. Just the right amount of attention. Later in the night, Sara pulls out this birthday book which when u turn to your birthday date, tells you about yourself, almost like your horoscope. Mine was dead on. My wifes was dead on, my workmates was dead on. Sara made us sign our pages, which we happily did. It could have been the wine, but we loved the opportunities for engagement. I look forward to returning to what Sara calls«My Little Bar» to see what Sara’s, the Keeper, comes up with next.

Review of the Hotel Felix bar, and actually the bartender, only. Mimi. She hails from Jerusalem. Owns a tanning salon, and is starting a Middle Eastern restaurant in LaGrange. She is happily dating a guy she digs enough to marry,…probably, …maybe… She works here Wednesday nights only, she said. Mimi’s smile is the biggest natural smile I have ever seen. Check it out: See what I mean? Mimi is the friendliest, most down to earth bartender I’ve met, maybe ever. I had by far the most fun at any bar I’ve had lately, which isn’t much. Bars lately don’t do it for me, but this was different. I had decided to walk home from the Loop because it was a gorgeous night. I stopped at the Hotel Felix out of curiosity, so I had a beer. The lounge adjacent the bar is very comfortable, and was empty and quiet. I had a beer. Before long some loud, foreign language speaking folks descended on the lounge and monopolized my asylum, so I moved to the bar. That’s when the fun began. The highlight was the intimacy of this tiny bar which sits maybe a dozen people, and importantly, the lack of the faux friendly bartender chatter, if you even get that. By the time I left, I’d met a friend of Mimi’s sitting to my right, we had some food and drink, exchanged pictures of our kids, heard about Mimi’s beau, her family, her outside businesses, and so on. To my left, Mimi engaged a gentleman in conversation that had almost all of us teary-eyed. He was in town for his eldest daughter’s wedding; his youngest daughter is due to be married in December. Mimi made this guy feel honored and respected — she picked up on his joy and pride and spread it infectiously around the bar to the rest of us. Mimi is a first class master of ceremonies, ringmaster and class act lady. If you don’t feel like you’ve made a new friend when you leave here, well, as a friend said to me yesterday in a similar context:…“it’s time to get out your shovel and start digging.”
