I come here specifically for the BBQ rice plates. A plate is around $ 8 and for this reason I rate this restaurant based on the price. Plate comes with rice, vegetables, meat of your choice, and a side soup. Been to a few spots and this joint probably has my favorite roast pork. Only issue is that it isn’t too consistent because sometimes its crispy to perfection and other times it is average. Only other spot that has more consistent roast pork is probably Ming Hin(dim sum joint) but its a much smaller portion there and a different style.

No matter how it taste(does not matter ANYMORE) it was GROSS. There were ROACHES running in the toilet and the toilet is near their kitchen, think about it. The dish/bowl are not clean at all. I asked the waitress to change one and she gave me another dirty one and she became IMPATIENT and said«ok DONT bother me again I cleaned it up with hot water for you!» Like she is doing me a big favor(thank you so much). Idk why she is always with a LOT of attitude every time. So RUDE. And they won’t offer parking ticket if your order is under $ 20(even if I payed 23 with tips). Horrible. BTW, I don’t like the food either.

Everything about this place is dirty. Dirty floor, dirty bathroom and nasty attitude. Btw they use garbage cans to store your food and garbage bags as apron. And if you don’t mind getting yell at by the staff for taking your order, then I will highly recommend this place.

This is an authentic old dirty Chinese restaurant. Everything is dirty including the sauce bottles. They have roasted duck hanging behind the counter, but it’s like… no. The food was meh. Bland, and if you ask for spicy, they sprinkle a little chili flakes on top and that’s it. It gets two dehydrated urine-colored stars because the waitress we had that day was nice and did her best. Please… if the line is long at your favorite place, and this restaurant looks enticingly empty… keep walking.

Very tiny little restaurant. After eating at My Place. I went there for one reason to get their pork chashu for dinner later that day. I’m not sure how their other food is, but the pork chashu is probably the best Chashu I have ever eaten. One of these days I need to go back and try some of their other items like the chicken or duck. The only problem is there are so many other options in Chinatown.

I totally agree with Frances X. I have the same feeling as she did: they hate customers, rude. Especially a woman with the pink red face, she is always grumpy and very very rude whenever I come there to order food. Beside that, the restaurant seems not very clean. I think it is not worth to come back there anymore.

Ordered their lunch special many times for takeout, never disappointed. For $ 5.38 you get your choice of BBQ meat, vegetable, and an egg. It’s enough to feed two people. Their BBQ is always good tasting.

I was going to eat at this restaurant because all the others in Chinatown square were full… I can see why it was empty at this one, it doesn’t smell like food when you walk in(it smells bad), it looks dirty, and the bathroom was filthy! When I seen there was a dead cockroach on the bathroom floor I decided I’d rather eat somewhere else! I’m glad I saw it before ordering… I’d rather wait, Ken Kee restaurant it is!

I cannot speak for the BBQ, I’m speaking for my experience and food at the restaurant. My room mate and I stopped by Chinatown for a visit. I am very used to the experience of being an outsider and entering Chinatown, I don’t blame most businesses for being on guard and standoffish. After all, with Pilsen not too far away now becoming gentrified because of how welcoming businesses were, now the rent is sky high and pushing out long time residents. But i digress, I am used to most businesses in Chinatown being not so welcoming, but this restaurant was a pleasant change! When we entered, we originally just wanted to buy something quick and get parking validation. It is a small restaurant very hole-in-the-wall place. We were greeted at the door by a very nice waitress who sat us down immediately. She didn’t really know English too well, but that’s fine because there were menus on the table. My room mate and I got Family Dinner for 2 for 19.95 — it was simple and it made ordering even more simple.(We didn’t even really look to see what it included, we just wanted food fast since we were hungry.) We were served this odd looking bean soup that wasn’t too appetizing to look at — but we were blown away by how good it was! It was simple, nothing fancy but delicious. Then she brings out this huge plate full of combination fried rice and me and my roomie are thinking, «That’s a lot! How are we going to finish it?» But we dug right in. The pork and shrimp were cooked nicely and the fried rice didn’t have that odd dark brown color to it like most places do. We’re thinking, this is it and it’s still worth it — but then she comes out with another plate full of chicken and peapods. The chicken was cooked well and the peapods were nice and juicy with a little crisp in them. Then she brought out two BIG eggrolls! I’m feeling like royalty here. And for a second, I hoped she might not have given us a bigger menu option. I asked her, and she giggled and just said«No it’s just a lot of food!» At this point we are so stuffed, but out comes ANOTHER plate of teriyaki beef and broccoli. Needless to say, we have leftovers for a few days. You get a lot of bang for your buck here and it is all delicious AND they are actually really really nice here too! I would come back here in a heartbeat. It beats KenKee next door(I went there before and it was meh.)

They seem to hate customers. Even though I speak Cantonese, they still gave the«you don’t belong here» attitute. Having been going there for over 10 years, today’s experience finally made me realize that I cannot tolerate the bad service any more. I ordered a lunch box and half a duck, then I thought it will be easier if I just sit there and eat the lunchbox because I was really hungry(depsite how the dining area does not look very clean). The waitress told me that I cannot eat there: just take the food and go. I am quite confused. Thinking to myself: Why? the seats are empty and you are idle?! Then another(more senior looking) woman said that I could eat there if I pay tips. Okay… I said to myself:.even though you are not giving me any service, I guess I can donate a dollar or two. Then, the waitress repeated that I should just go. Another customer gave me a bitter smile and said: I guess you are not welcome here. It is very weird to be treated so rudely without me provoking them in any way. I got out of there as soon as possible. To be honest, there are better barbecue place in Chinatown. The only reason I went today is because the other place does not accept credit card and I am out of cash and I mistakenly think it will be quick to pick up food from there.

The restaurant looks a bit unattractive but the BBQ stuff is definitely one of the best in around Chinatown. Recommend BBQ pork, roast duck and BBQ spare ribs.

The barbecue pork, white chicken and soy chicken were very good! Comparable to some of the barbecue places i’ve been to in hong kong, the type of rice they serve could’ve been better though. Not the cleanest resto i’ve been to but the food more than made up for it. Our server was a chinese lady from indonesia and was very nice as we both speak the same dialect! :)

BBQ pork is nice, low price and good quality. You can see a lot people waiting for picking up whenever you are here. I’ll say I am not satisfied with the wonton noodle soup. The noodle itself tastes good, but the soup is not made by the traditional recipe.

This establishment deserves a zero. Walked in with my family and a staff member asked if we were Hmong. I replied«yes». She responded, «Hmong people are cheap». We walked out without eating here.

We were here last week. We had the 3 items BBQ wonton egg noodle. The 3 items we had were white cut chicken, soy sauce chicken and roast pork. I also added half a roast duck. We also had the seafood chow noodle. Everything still relatively cheap.

nasty place with nasty attitude. The price keeps rising but the qulity of the food and service keeps dropping. whatever, this isn’t the only bbq place in town. Don’t have time to deal with irrational owner. Like seriously… she should really just pass on the job to someone younger… it. s not even like shes doing a good job anymore. she cant even listen well.

Okay bbq at an okay price. My friend and I split a pork and duck bbq combo. The pork was a bit too fatty and chewy for my taste and the meat overall was kind of oily. But, it wasn’t terrible. I’m sure there’s better Chinese bbq in Chinatown though. I suppose try this place if you’ve got no other alternatives.

This place is disgusting! yuck, don’t spend your money here. I ordered salt and pepper squid and soft beef ribs. The fried squids were swimming in the pool of nasty grease. The ribs came with so much fat that I had to perform liposurgery on them with my mouth. Yikes!!!

If you’re a native Chinese speaker(or can relatively communicate), this place is for you. I only say this because no one on staff speaks English, so I can only imagine a non-speaker miserable trying to ask for a glass of water. The food reminds me of food back home in SoCal, which says a lot. I refuse to go to dim sum in Chicago because of the proposterous prices, and am so glad to have found this little gem with it’s reasonable prices. The good: — best beef he fun I’ve had in chicago(sorry don’t know the translation for gan tsao niu he) — real cheap prices — majority($ 4.95−7) — decent bbq pork — fast — traditional free soup with meal The not so good: — disappointing duck — so-so broth for noodle soup items — janky So why 5 stars? The only CHinese place I’d go to again in Chicago
