This is an economical sushi place. Think better than grocery store sushi but probably not as good as places like Ora. The place is probably not run by Japanese chefs as the rice is over cooked and a bit mealy with no vinegar. That said, the fish is pretty decent for the price. I recommend sticking with the $ 2.95 nigiri/shashimi and the special rolls. I would save this as a for a thrifty take out eaten alone but I wouldn’t recommend it for impressing a date. Summary: — over cooked rice — good fish for price — go for $ 2.95 nigiri and special rolls — no dates

Very fast and affordable but it kind of ends there. The cuts of fish did not seem of a good standard and lots of mayo used. Although this is close to home I don’t think I will go again. Shame.

We have ordered from Godzilla several times after we got a recommendation. I can’t believe how cheap everything is yet it is so good! I think I have tried every single roll but my very favorite is the Miami. Yum! We have always ordered for delivery and it is usually delivered quickly. I highly recommend Godzilla for all of your sushi needs and cravings!

Great fresh sashimi. They hook you up with your own jug of water from the get which I love. They have a little bar where you can see them making the food… it didn’t look like you could sit there but I would if I could have. Fast & friendly service. Their spicy miso soup is really good. Clean and quaint place. Going back soon!

Great sushi restaurant, absolutely suggested to all who want to enjoy sushi in a beautiful, renovated space, with a wonderful service and unbeatable prices! The rolls are wonderful and you have 40+ choice at 2.99 $ each, even super-special ones! We especially liked the spicy crunch salmon, the miami roll and thz mini-godzilla, a delight for your tastebuds. Finally, it’s BYOB!

My roommates and I have ordered online from Godzilla before and as our previous delivery was good, we figured we’d get the same service. Wrong. After the order was late by about 15 minutes I called to check on it, and after being sent to voicemail four times, the person who answered said that the order would be another ten minutes. Alright, just ten — we could deal with that. 15 minutes after that we still hadn’t heard anything. I called again and the employee said it would be another five minutes. Five minutes passed and we got a text that our order was ready for pick up. Pick up — yet we had ordered for delivery. — We kept waiting. We call — the employee said that they had put the order under pick up even though we selected that we wanted it to be delivered, and they didn’t offer an explanation except for«We’ll get it to you». At this point, it was past 2:30 and they were technically closed. — More waiting. We get a call from Godzilla asking for our address, which we had provided already. They told us that the driver had gotten lost — we live maybe eight minutes from them. — Even more waiting. We call them again, they say they’re still on their way and rush us off of the phone. — More time passes and they call and ask us to text them the address. COMEON. Order placed: 12:54PM. Order received: 3:15PM. The food was about as good as it was the first time = decent for the price which was what we were expecting and the reason for the one star I gave them. But the TERRIBLE service and delivery? Not worth it. This was completely ridiculous.

Is this place called«Godzilla» or «Gorilla»? Who cares? What you need to know is that this place has great prices for good sushi. It’s so good and so cheap that I’m going to crown it the best price to deliciousness ratio for any food in uptown.

I haven’t actually eaten at the restaurant but their delivery service is great! The amount of sushi you get for the price you pay is absurd! I’ve ordered 10 different rolls for 30 bucks. The small orders are the best, and you can split it with a couple of different people. I’m tend to be a sushi snob when it comes to the quality of fresh sashimi but whenever i just want something quick and less upscale I order from here. Always walk away full and satisfied.

It’s a reasonable price of sushi’s size and such a great place to try! But if they were busy, you had to wait for a while. So I recommend you to order whatever you want just in one time. And also don’t forget to order melon stick! It’s amazing:)))

This place is fun! Here are some of the highlights: — BYOB — Cheap rolls — Small rolls(so you can try a bunch of different ones!) — Took our polaroid picture to put on the wall for next time we visit — Small, clean, intimate setting My only complaint is the slow service. I could tell they were getting a lot of carry out orders, but they were still a bit short-staffed.

We came here on a cold Monday night for dinner. The sushi was fine and seemed pretty fresh and the price is definitely right. The service was a little slow but very polite. We will definitely order delivery from here. You honestly can’t find cheaper sushi. Obviously the sushi isn’t as good or as inventive as agami down the street, but this place is much cheaper.

I hate reviewing restaurants I never actually ate at, but this place is ridiculous. I came for lunch on a Friday and sat for quite a while with no service. There seemed to be only one person working, and only 2 other customers. Eventually, before ordering, I got up and left. The décor was bizarre and didn’t match the name or theme of the restaurant at all. It looks like a girly gift shop complete with fake crystal chandeliers. There’s even a 3-tiered tray of mini pretzels. I didn’t want pretzels, I wanted sushi.

I was excited to order from these folks – I loved the concept of the half-order rolls. Unfortunately between their late delivery and the TERRIBLE quality of the food, it looks like they’re a big ol’ nope in the neighborhood. The two big issues were: –The fish was old and stank slightly. –The rice was so overcooked and squeezed it was basically paste glommed on to the fish. How do you screw up rice this badly, I cannot fathom. I posted photos, so y’all see the mushy paste that they called a roll. It was all so badly done that I was nauseous within three or four pieces from the terrible texture, and the poor quality of fish. Don’t risk your stomachs, folks – go anywhere else.

Definitely a welcomed addition to the Clark Street«dead zone» in Uptown. Pretty good sushi for the price. I ordered take-out an hour before close on a Sunday night so I don’t want to say too much. I enjoyed my late night snack. The cheap rolls are cheap because they are 4-piece, not 6 or 8. This is cool for me because I like to try a lot of different things when I eat sushi. The staff was super-friendly and the dinning room is clean and bright.

What a great addition to the neighborhood! The sushi was amazing and fresh :) The $ 2.95 price makes it easy to venture into all types of rolls. The service was great and the ambiance is awesome. Will definitely start coming here more often!

Short version — It’s A-OK, not amazing, has many areas of improvement but for $ 3 rolls? That’s just insanely cheap. Keep in mind, the rolls are much smaller than you’re used to at other places. Sarah S.’ normal long @$$ TMI version — I was really excited when I spotted Godzilla and then read they have $ 3 rolls. And not just a couple. A whole pretty pull out menu of them! My friend and I needed some yums to munch when we hit up a brewery so we decided to grab some sush. I placed my order over the phone for pick and was told 15 – 20 minutes. Perfect because I was just about 20 minutes away! I walked in and loved the décor. Everything is really modern and stylish. It didn’t have a cheap Asian dive look as I was expecting at all. A few tables were sat and I walked to the back where you pay & pickup. I got there 25 minutes after placing my order and was asked to sit & wait… where I wait an additional 20 minutes. Not cool for me to wait 45 minutes when I was quoted 15 – 20. They seemed really overwhelmed while I sat there observing things. More & more tables came in to be sat, many others came to pick up their orders & went… And the workers were just really busy. I saw tables getting frustrated while waiting for water, their orders to be taken and their food. They only had 2 sushi chefs and 2 people working front of house which included bagging orders, taking phone calls, ringing people out, bringing food out & serving. 2 people to handle all of that on top of regular serving duties — they are very understaffed. I saw people just standing aimlessly for several minutes after walking in. Hiring more people would absolutely help the problem. I eventually got my food, rolled out to meet my friend and we dived in. We ordered 6 of the rolls and were only given 5. ACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!! All that waiting and they forgot one?! Gosh darnit. My friend called them to ask them to refund my $ 3 roll we did not receive, they said they would… shocker time — they never refunded me. Le sigh. The rolls are super small in size and actually we agreed they are worth $ 3…it’s a fair price. All 5 of our rolls fit in one carry out container. None were bad but the fish was not very fresh as the coloring wasn’t spot on & there was a slight fishy smell/taste to it. However, it wasn’t old or horrible so we gave it a go. Honestly, I don’t think I’d get their raw fish rolls here again because I’m ever so slightly scurred. They have some good sounding veggie rolls though… like sweet potato rolls! Super cheap rolls can be had at Godzilla but the pricing is actually pretty spot on. Food can use a bit amping up and service needs a lot. I’ll be back, absolutely will give them another try… but I’m not clamoring to get their makis anytime soon.

My bf and I love supporting local busineses. We were off on Wednesday and decided to give this place a try. Upon walkin, there were no greetings. We stood by the entrance for few minutes before anyone acknowledge us. There were only three tables on the floor and I didn’t see any food on the table. One of the server was busy answering phone orders and the other server were so confused. We order 8 different kind of sushi and we’re excited to try them. We waited 40 minutes and no one came to check on us. Then finally the sushi came out. The size of the sushi is ridiculously small. We wanted to order more but we didn’t want to wait another hour for it. After we finished, the server didn’t come to our table to give us the check so we had to go up to the counter to pay. The quality of the sushi was not good. Service was super duper slow I don’t think we will come back. Very disappointing.

Oh my god, $ 2.95 sushi rolls. And it’s easily what you’d pay for at LEAST $ 6 – 7 anywhere else in Chicago. I found this place on Unilocal last night, and was skeptical that no reviews existed. Apparently it’s just opened this October, making me even more wary, but my stomach loves sushi and my wallet loves not being abused, so my heart and my head agreed in the spirit of Friday night that we’d go for it. What I ordered(numbers meaning how many pieces you get for $ 3): — Salmon Avocado Roll(6) — Crunchy Spicy Salmon Roll(6) — Spicy Tuna Roll(6) — Mini Godzilla Roll(4) — Spicy Trio Roll(4) — Dinosaur Roll(4) The first three are about what you’d expect. Very basic rolls. Fresh avocado and decent fish. Not the best salmon I’ve ever had but surely still enjoyable especially for the price. Their deluxe rolls are wonderful. The mini godzilla towers with spicy tuna, unagi sauce, and spicy mayo on top of it and was my favorite of the bunch. The unagi sauce also adds so much to the dinosaur roll that’s also loaded with avocado. The spicy trio roll fits salmon and tuna into one roll with a slew of sauces on top of that one too. So many calories. So delicious. Despite my expectations, Godzilla doesn’t skimp on all of the contents. Nothing was too rice heavy, and the taste absolutely fulfilled my sushi cravings. My rating is only based on the quality of the sushi since there is certainly better tasting and more expensive sushi elsewhere, but for the low cost and large selection, it’s a five star decision if you’re penny pinching and just need a quick sushi fix.
