Is this place ever open?! I live right by it for about 2 yrs now and any time I would like to try some gelato from here it is always closed! A sign giving hours would be nice…

I took a flyer on this place because the CTA bus was 15 min away and I saw a «Dulce de Leche» flavor. I won’t be back. The flavor was only mediocre. Worse, the gelato had ice crystals in it – more than a few. That’s a sign of poor craftsmanship. And they charge $ 3 for a single scoop? Black Dog gives you two scoops(and better flavor choices) for $ 4. And I’ve been to Black Dog at least a dozen times and never had ice crystals in my gelato. Heck, even Marianos gelato is much better quality, and you get the same amount for $ 1.25 than this place charges$ 3 for.

Yes yes and yes! First of all it’s right in front of the #66 bus stop annnd right upstairs from the Chicago Avenue Blue Line. Win! Secondly, The service is awesome! Win! Anthony was very nice and helpful and just cool af. Best of all, the chocolate gelato is slamming! Win! The honey bourbon strawberry –goood and the organic whipped cream-sinful! They use natural, organic and locally sourced products. WINWINWIN! It’s a small place but there is some window seating inside and some outside seating as well. The prices were reasonable too. Yeah, I like this spot. It really made an impression on me.

Near the Chicago blue line stop and got a sweet tooth? Stop in here for some pretty decent gelato or a dessert crêpe. You won’t be disappointed. They’ve got some different flavors like avocado or wasabi almond which are my favorite features. More of a savory guy myself though and those options aren’t very plentiful or tasty for that matter. Not terrible, but not really noteworthy. Just some veggies wrapped up in carbs. There is parking even though the place is super tiny and the guy working was incredibly nice. Other than that… just stick to the sweets and it’s a great little spot.

I live by Black Dog and you can’t compare the two. Go Greco or go home. It’s obvious the other is owned by a bunch of hipsters who had the bright idea to start a gelato shop without the skills and panache. Skills and panache in abundance at the GC.

Not happy at all. Chocolate tasted like some sugar free ice cream or something. The salted caramel, which is usually my favorite flavor, was way too salty. I wasted money on this. The guy behind the counter was really nice but not enough to where I would want to try this place again.

Amazing place. My wife and I spent time in Italy and this is exactly what gelato and sorbet is in Italy. This place is amazing. If you want a true taste of Italia than this is it. Go and I mean go now or the the next they are open because this place is a must for anyone looking for true Italy.

This is where we go for a special summer treat. The flavor are always unique and quite delicious. It’s a bit pricey but go for it! Spoil yourself, you won’t be disappointed!

The ice cream is definitely worth the price. They offer a variety of flavors that are not easy to come by.

Came here on a whim in Chicago – kind of because I am a female who demands ice cream be fed to her on a regular basis, else all hell breaks loose, and kind of because, well, gelato is freaking delicious. Can you blame me?(This is a rhetorical question, but if you were to answer it, the correct response would be «No.») It’s so conveniently located that I can’t even fathom where else they could possibly put it that would be more convenient. So simply for that, they get another star. It’s right off the exit for the Blue Line subway, so you can make this pitstop whenever you like. The only flavor I ended up liking was the Strawberry Yogurt, which was actually really really good. Their portions are also pretty generous considering they’re only one scoop. Sure, it’s a little pricey, but it’s gelato we’re talking about here. What do you expect?

Get out of here. You’re kidding me. Who is giving this place 5 stars, and has your tongue been injured in some sad accident? The price is ridiculous for the smallest adult size. Granted, it’s a sizable portion, but I’d take half the portion for half of the cost. Just because the name of your company is exotic sounding, I don’t want to have to pay the conversion rate prices for a frozen dessert. Odd selection(would you like the sweet corn, mushroom, or the sun-dried leather?) And here’s a snippet of conversation from my visit. «Would you like to try a sample?» «Well what is Fior De Latte» «It’s like vanilla.» «Oh…hmmm» “It’s vanilla“ Too many other places out there.

Best gelato in Chicago. Full stop. I’m new here just moved from Italy, so I remember pretty well how gelato should be. Guys, few flavors but well done. This is the trick. Suggestion: pistacchio. Nocciola. Gianduia. Fiordilatte. Amen. Giovanni

Eh, it’s okay, but I’ve had better. There were 8 flavors to choose from and one scoop was pretty much $ 5. It was tasty, but not that thick. To be honest, I didn’t think it was gelato at all. I thought I was eating plain ice cream because it started melting incredibly fast. Wait, I know what you’re going to say — «Amanda, gelato pretty much means „ice cream“ in Italian.» Thanks, Grandma. So, do you think that maybe they could stick to an Italian recipe then? Whole milk vs cream, Yo! Slow churning? No quite frozen? Capite italiano? I would go back, but only on a hot day when I’m desperate for ice cream and can’t get anywhere else.

Stopped by on a Saturday night and they had 4 flavors. I repeat… just four flavors. It’s worth it to keep going up Milwaukee to Oberweis, or trekking over to Wicker Park for Black Dog Gelato.

I’ve been to dozens of gelatorias in nearly every major city and region of Italy, and my Italian husband and I were very impressed with this welcomed addition to our neighborhood. All organic ingredients and made right there in the shop. Nice selection of classic flavors, plus we’ve seen some bold concoctions as well that look interesting. Looking forward to trying different seasonal flavors. The small outdoor patio is also pretty cute and cozy place to sit with a friend or sweetheart and enjoy a cup of gelato.

Had been waiting for months and months for this place to open and was so excited when it finally did! But man, what a disappointment. I’ve definitely had better gelato in the city — for example, Mariano’s who gets theirs shipped daily from Milwaukee. So so sad because we were going to make it our dessert place to go on a nice night. But the price just doesn’t match the quality, unfortunately.

FINALLY! they are open… its just such a convenient location and I felt like by a place called GELATOGRECO to be sitting there tempting me and not being open… it just really made me want gelato even more! So tonight on this exact rainy night I saw 2 ladies working and went in. I tried the flavors they had to offer and I liked most of them. I was very fond of their Hazelnut, Chocolate, and Ricotta flavors. I can not remember the exact names of them but they were delicious. I went with an affogato which is one of my favorite treats… I went with the hazelnut gelato and a decaf espresso to top it. It was very good. For $ 6 I got a big scoop of gelato and a shot of espresso. I’ve paid $ 11 at other places. Fair price and delicious. I’ll be back to try the crepes next!

Ermahgerd, I’ve died and gone to heaven & no one can convince me otherwise. I had an extremely busy day yesterday & forgot to make dinner, and my morning has been so hectic that I didn’t have time for breakfast. I stopped at Gelato Greco for something to eat and I found utter bliss!!! Typically, I temporarily avoid«Now Open» restaurants because I like to give it a week or two so they can get their stuff together and work out the kinks. This place has worked it all out and is running as smooth as smooth can be. And who came up with those recipe ideas?! I LOVEYOU! I ordered the Peanut Butter Maple crêpe. Not only was it an absolutely delicious, melt-in-your-mouth, flavorful crêpe, but it was priced nicely and decorated beautifully. Someone has their food artistry down pat. I also ordered the Coconut Custard Latte. If it wasn’t for the fact that I had many more things to cross off of my heavy to-do list, I might have bolted myself to the chair and just ordered lattes all day long. I have never, in my entire life, had a better latte(psst, I was a barista, and I made some bomb-diggity-awesome lattes). The atmosphere is lovely, up-to-date, and super clean! Seems like a friendly place for all! The employees are superb, too! I tend to expect snotty baristas who wouldn’t know foam art if it hit them in the forehead, but Krys knocked the foam art out of the park and had a fantastic personality to boot. Her professionalism and eagerness to please her customers was astounding. It’s always so refreshing to see a true artist(of any medium) to exhibit a love for what they do. She’s great. Gelato Greco is great. Great is such a small word, but look up the definition… GREAT1st time visit. I will be a regular, just you wait and see.
