We stopped into Gaslight Bar while roaming around the neighborhood and had a decent lunch. Décor: It’s a pretty typical bar but has a large outdoor area that was perfect for us on the say we were there(it was sunny and hot outside). There are a bunch of tables and a decently large bar along the main wall. The windows provide ample natural light and can be opened(or rolled, rather) on nice days to give you a solid beer garden feel to your meal. Bathroom: Very nicely done and very clean, however they didn’t have soap in the men’s room… they had hand sanitizer? Staff: Our waiter was laid back and cool. He took our orders quickly and was helpful with any questions we had. He also brought the food, which came out hot and fresh, without delay. Food: We started the meal off with the warm pretzel(delicious!!) which came with two cheese(one regular, one hot and amazing) and a ridiculously good honey mustard. We then moved on to our meals: tacos. We had a mix of all the tacos they had to offer and I would say they all were very tasty. If I had to pick a favorite it’d be the Buffalo Chicken one but the shrimp and fish were a very close second. All the food tasted fresh and came out nice and hot. The rest of the menu was pretty decent as well. Value: The prices are right where you’d expect them to be, nothing overly exaggerated. We had an enjoyable time here and would come back again for another meal.

Ate dinner Tuesday night at this neighborhood gem. What truly put it over the top was our waitress Beth. I all my years dining in Chicago I have never had waiter who really understood what the word hospitality meant in the term Hospitality Industry. She had a great understanding of the menu and the beer list. If you stop by, you need to try and sit in her section.

I rarely write a review on Unilocal. But after my last experience at Gaslight, I felt compelled to do so. To be brutally honest, the food at the Four Corners Tavern Group(Gaslight, Kirkwood, Benchmark, etc.) has gotten progressively worse over the past year. I was at Gaslight this past weekend, and ordered the cheeseburger. The burger consisted of two very thin, pre-cooked patties, prepared well done. You don’t get to choose what temperature your burger is cooked at. The meat tasted like something that was pre-cooked and re-heated. It obviously wasn’t very tasty. Why can’t they simply offer a regular cheeseburger that is cooked to order? The fact is that Four Corners used to have good food, but now it’s all about their profit margin, and not about offering quality food. The same can be said about other items on their menu at Gaslight. The«Barbacoa nachos» are absolutely awful. They look like beef stew on top of tortilla chips, with cheese and a few other ingredients that do not go well together. The«mini burgers» are way too salty, they are also pre-cooked, and have canned cheese on top. That’s just a few of the menu items that needs to be reconsidered. What upper management at Four Corners doesn’t understand, is that having poor quality food, is only going to send customers elsewhere!

We sat on the outdoor patio, for about 20mins before i personally had to get up and get someone to come serve us. The beer, drinks, and food are amazing. The seating out door is nice, its shaded, and has a bar with a ton of tvs. The indoor is seating in the bar area and then some seating in another area. Clean. The employees were nice once we got helped. Was really busy on a saturday afternoon. Would go again. I do 3 stars bc of the service. It would be good and then no one would come check on us for a long while. We had to get up 3 times to ask for someone. Food n drinks n atemosphere would get 4.5 stars

A sports bar with pretty good specials. The covered patio is nice for spring days when it’s sunny, but also a bit chilly because it has(you guess it) gas lights.

Maybe we just ordered the worst possible items in the menu, but I was not impressed. To be fair, this is a fratty sports bar and we came here for brunch(whomp.) They have a cool semi-coversd patio, and the weather was perfect, so we thought«Why not!». I’ll tell you why. We ordered sliders and the nachos special. Whosever idea it was to put beef stew ingredients on nachos and call that barbacoa tacos needs to seriously rethink their culinary degree. Maybe on some level pickled carrots and cauliflower would taste great on deep fried pita(these were definitely not tortilla nachos)…but not when you throw half a pound of salt on it first! I could barely taste anything outside of the kick of the japapenos. The nachos weren’t even the worst part. The sliders were also extremely salty, worse quality than White Castle, and I guess real cheese is a huge commodity nowadays cause we were definitely served CHEEZE-WHIZ on our mini burgers. Lol. We were laughing at the end of it cause it was such terrible food. We finished about half of the meal before asking for the check. One last thing that bothered me is that mimosas are 8 dollars a glass here… which I understand for an upscale place like Yoshi, but if you’re gonna put canned cheese on my damn burgers you cannot expect to charge me mimosa prices like you have a Michelin star. –_– Only reason it’s not a 1 star review is that they did have every sport imaginable in the TV screens and the ambience was cool for an outdoorsy sports bar. Service was alright.

Came here plenty of times. mainly just to drink a nice selection and different deals throughout the week. The section I mainly sat at is the bar in front and it’s a decent amount of space. The food here is pretty good determine on the day you come in for the deal(which is all I know). Came on a Wednesday night before and a Monday night. Monday are 5 dollar burger and Wednesday night is wings I believe. But seems like a popular place to go for some Northsiders so give it a try when you’re up there

So glad Four Corners bought this spot and renovated it! I frequented Mickey’s when I lived in the neighborhood a few years back and was always a fan of their large patio overlooking Clark Street. What Gaslight has managed to do is make both the inside and outside of this location shine. True to the Four Corners brand Gaslight serves delicious fare and great drinks. The Southwest Salad, Burger Sliders, and House Seasoned Fries are two of my favorites but you really can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. My only qualm with Gaslight is that on my most recent visit the service was painfully slow and the first to arrive waited a good fifteen minutes for her drink. I’m hoping this was an anomaly though…

Total college bar. my girlfriend had the fish tacos and told me that there was too much tortilla. Later she told me that the tacos were OK but not the best. the atmosphere was very lively if you’re a college student but not for any average person That just wants to have a meal. Overall the bar was kept up very nice, and a nice place to have a drink on the weekend. I only gave it three stars because my girlfriends tacos were not the best and I had to literally ask the bartender for a drink every time and he could not remember what I drank even though there was only three people at the bar

My friend and I grabbed a quick bite at Gaslight(ha! I’m a poet) ands overall the experience wasn’t bad! We were seated on the patio, which, for winter time seemed a little odd, some they completely closed off the indoor seating area. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the patio was very well heated and closed off to the elements. Very cute patio as well – I’ll soberly be checking it out in the summer! We ordered the pretzel for an appetizer which was nothing special, but tasty just the same. It wasn’t much more than what you’d buy at a ballpark. I ordered the prosciutto pizza for my entrée which I really loved. Delicious, hearty portion of prosciutto on top of thin pizza dough and cheese, worth an olive oil drizzle – yum! My friend got the Southwest salad which she also enjoyed. The service was a bit slow; it looked like they were understaffed, so it’s no fault of the server who looked to be taking care of at least 10 tables by herself. I get that it’s probably a bit slower on a Thursday in the winter but for as mild as it’s been, a larger staff would probably do some good.

I have been anticipating«Friends» trivia for weeks, and wow what a fun time we had. The manager and our waitress were extremely friendly and helpful. I wish we would have been able to sit in the outside part, but maybe next time. We all had a blast, and realized we need to watch more friends before our next trivia night.

Great location, sit in the patio! I ordered the Turkey Burger with pasta salad and it was so delicious. My friends ordered burgers as well and looked just as tasty as mine. I wish they would have a better selection of beers on tap but the canned beers make up for it I suppose. Other than that great service, great food and great atmosphere!

Came here on Friday after the adult’s night event at Lincoln Park zoo. We sat inside because it was terribly humid outside. We just wanted to grab some food and a few drinks. My friend and I split the mac and cheese skillet! It was really good and creamy. My bf had their mini turkey burgers, and claims that they were the BEST turkey burger he’s ever tried. They had like sun dried tomato and brie on them. My other friend got some of their tacos and we all shared Mai Tai Volcano. It was pretty good but really pineapple-y.

I agree this place is a definite step up from Mickey’s all around — better drinks, food and service. I think the crowd is also a bit better and less of a frat crowd that I always ran into at Mickey’s. Stopped in tonight for dinner with a friend. No drinks tonight(you know, Tuesday haha), but I have in the past and highly recommend their Moscow mules, yum and pack a punch. Tonight food wise, I had the buffalo chicken tacos and she had the southwest salad. Both were excellent and appropriate proportions and we both left satisfied but not stuffed. The reason they only get 3 stars is because the waitress ran my card for the wrong amount. Honest mistake and she was extremely apologetic and fixed it, but now my credit card company thinks my card was stolen and put a fraud alert on my account so I need to call and sort that out, plus I’ll need to make sure that it actually was voided like the waitress claimed. Again, honest mistake and I get that, but her typing mistake is going to cost me a few extra phone calls and credit card stress. Minus the running the credit card for the wrong amount part, I’d be back and I think this is a fun bar with decent food and a fun crowd — but next time I’ll bring cash!

Food: mini burgers are not very good, the pretzel is awesome! I would recommend that! Yummmyyyy! Vibe: good, lots of man buns out tonight. Definitely a younger crowd in this place. If you’re single, this place is great. If you’re on a casual first date and wanna hang out, I’d recommend grabbing a drink here. Definitely a great spot for groups and people watching. I can only guess that after 12 am, this is the place of poor decisions. Luckily, I won’t be here at that time.

The service was great! We ordered the chicken wings, which were good but not great as they could have been crisper. However, their burger and the salad with feta and portobello mushrooms that we split was excellent. I had a mojito which was a little tart in a good way. The restaurant has wide screen TVs and sort of blasts music, so it’s not the best spot if you’re looking for a quiet venue. Overall, a lively place with great happy hour prices.

Went here last night with a friend who just moved to the area. I arrived about 15 minutes earlier than she did. The bar is divided in two, maybe more, sections — but I sat in the actual bar section(not the front patio) and was promptly brought a drink menu, waters, and a food menu by the super attentive bartender. Cannot say enough about how great the service was. They have a special on fish tacos because of Shark Week, which was also on several TVs throughout the bar — LOVEDIT! Ha, such an awesome vibe. Plus! The music the whole night was INCREDIBLE! It seriously felt like they had my iPod on shuffle — it started out with a beachy theme from Beach Boys to various modern surf-rock style bands to the occasional throwback 90s summer song(LFO!!) but as the night progressed it got more into early 00’s — Destiny’s Child, Motion City Soundtrack, TLC, etc — just an awesome mix! I’d honestly come back just for the music. After perusing the menu, I decided on an Old Fashioned after a recommendation from the bartender and it was awesome! The citrus perfectly shone through and it was balanced to a T, yet still strong. I also really appreciated being able to watch the bartender mix and muddle and stir! It really felt like I was special with the amount of time he put into making it. ;) Once my friend arrived, we ordered food — I got the veggie burger with fries and she got the mahi mahi tacos. My veggie burger was meh. It was reallllly mushy, which you kind of expect with a veggie burger, but it just didn’t have that great of flavor and there were too many lentils and beans in it. The smoked gouda was its saving grace, and the veggies were super fresh, but otherwise, it was very mediocre. I only ate half. The fries were… decent. It seemed like they were second-fried — they are shoestring but some were literally all crunch. My friend said her tacos were really good! I don’t eat fish so I can’t attest to if she was telling the truth. I’ll definitely be back — but I’ll probably stick to just drinks + apps. Great service, great drinks, great vibes!

Went here yesterday with a big group to watch the Hawks. Overall had a really nice time. Service was pretty good, drinks were fairly reasonable and quite good. Food was great, and pretty cheap all in all. I had a Buffalo crispy chicken wrap and tater tots(YUM) and it was only $ 10. Not bad at all.

This place has gone up since becoming Gaslight. It was kinda dead & depressing as Mickeys. I can’t comment on what late night here is like but it’s a great Sunday fun day spot! I tried the shrimp roll which was delicious and the pasta salad was the bomb. I’ve had the tacos there before which were average.

Love going to Gaslight for trivia on Wednesdays — there’s a variety of question types and everyone is able to contribute. Half-priced apps are always great too :) There are screens throughout the bar so that everyone can participate — even those on the patio. On the weekends, the bar is fun and has some good cocktails(similar to those found at their sister bar, Crossing, on Southport) — I always get the Fresh & Fancy, and my friends have said great things about the Moscow Mules.

I like to rate bars based on my overall experience and not nitpick certain details that warrant 3 stars over 4. I had a great time here and am therefore giving it 4 stars. It’s not much to look at from the outside but inside it is very nice. The chairs have a nice wood finish and the walls are appealing to look at. There’s a bunch of tvs, a few dining areas, a patio I did not use, and 2 bars. I went on Wednesday night for trivia. It was arrested development theme, so this place’s «cool factor» just shot up 100 points. My friend said the mix drinks were weak and preferred just getting beer. The beer specials were decent but only involved cans. I would prefer drafts. The trivia itself was awesome. But I don’t know if that’s the bars doing or Ron Howard’s. Good mix of questions. They stopped the game a few times and gave out free beer during some contests. That’s how you get people to keep coming back. The only disappointment here were the food specials. The Wednesday night specials are half off apps and Mac and cheese. Yes I could have gotten tacos, which in retrospect I wish I did, but that’s not in the spirit of specials night. We had 3 to our party and split a variety of dishes. The Mac and cheese wasn’t bad, but certainly not the best in the city. My biggest complaint was the variety of the apps menu. My friend put it best: these are side dishes, not apps. They had wings and chips and guac but not much else. I was just hoping for more actual apps, not French fries. However, with that being said, the fries were delicious, as was the guac. Wings were average. Sliders just above average. Put some creativity into your apps menu and I’ll come running back. I won’t go out of my way to come back but certainly will come running back with another fun trivia night. I’ll probably avoid the apps and go with something else on the menu. It all smelled and looked fantastic and if the fries are any indication, this kitchen can cook.

With the recent location change this cool little neighborhood bar has kinda shifted to a different dem-bro-graphic. It’s still got the same features in terms of food, friendly service, and pretty affordable drinks, but that once quiet little old couple at the end of the bar has been replaced by a guy in a tank top and cargo shorts. The menu is small and simple but what they have they do pretty well. They burgers are great and the mahi mahi might be one of the better grilled fish taco options in town. The place is about 3 times the size of the old spot and the outdoor patio is pretty nice while the weather is still summer-ish. Definitely a good spot to start for brunch or do a couple of day drinks while people watching the passersby on Clark Street.

Only had drinks after waiting over 20 minutes just to be asked what we wanted to drink. It wasn’t just us… as I noticed that the tables near us all were experiencing the same difficulty with service. To make matters almost worse the girl serving us knocked into me and my chair at least a couple times. I wasn’t sure where she was running to since she wasn’t serving any of us. Regardless the outdoor seating would have been nice if it wasn’t full so I would go back to see how the service was in that area. Overall, the place is huge and service is poor. I had their version of a moscow mule which was just okay.

Great laid back covered patio and beautiful industrially decorated interior. Was a bit disappointed they have no weekly specials ‘yet’.(Went to Dunlay’s, down the street, last week and was so impressed with their Thursday $ 10 pitchers of Sangira special!) Their wines were all $ 9, which seemed a little steep for the area, and the pour size, at least maybe give a few choices. Cocktails are also all $ 9 and beer is un-priced on the menu. The Moscow Mule at $ 9 was delicious! Menu consist of basic bar appetizers, tots, wings, pretzels and a surprise tostadas with shrimp. Sliders, Pizza, Tacos, Greens and Burgers & More round out the menu. Oh, and desserts, which consist of a Skillet cookie for $ 9 and a mini for $ 4, can’t hate on that! We tried the Mahi Mani $ 12 and Classic Fish Tacos $ 10 — They were a good size and served with delicious homemade tortilla chips. I recommended getting a small side of guacamole for $ 1, its delicious! The tacos looked good and fresh with the addition of slaw or cabbage, but lacked any real pizaz. Everything was doable but I the spent $ 50 and dining alfresco, on a beautiful Chicago night, was the only memorable thing.

You read that right– I’m giving the place that used to be Mickey’s five stars. Now it couldn’t be more different; it’s clean, the food is good and the service is solid. Best part: the awesome patio remains. We went in a Sunday afternoon for a quick bite and some beers and ended up staying about two hours. They had a local DJ(Dante) spinning live inside and it was loud on the patio. I’d never heard of him but he was great, so we didn’t mind. Apparently they do this every Sunday from 2−4pm, making it the perfect place for Sunday funday. They have a wide selection of affordable beers on tap and in cans. We ate the mahi tacos and the proscuttio pizza and both were excellent. Our waitress was friendly and on top of things. Overall, you can’t beat it for a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. I’ll be back soon!
