This place always hits the spot. Always friendly and always fresh. If you’re waiting on your bus, pass. The wait can be long but it’s worth it. Delivery never takes more than 40 min and they’re really nice. I recommend the wonton soup, veggie fried rice and veggie chicken. Good lunch deals as well

Great place for some Real good combination chicken fried rice and orange chicken the service is always great and the main lady who takes my orders is super sweet and very kind no matter how busy she always smiles. I love the orange chicken here and it’s lighting fast. It’s my favorite spot in Jefferson park.

The crab rangoon was hollow, no cream cheese or crab inside. The chicken fried rice was alright. The pepper steak had little steak, and I’m not entirely sure it was really steak. All in all, it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good either.

The orange chicken has some residue taste of something else that I can’t describe, maybe a little too orangey. It was drenched in sauce and made the chicken a bit soggy. Please think about serving customers healthier food.

This is one of our go to Chinese fast food joints! The barbecue pork appetizer are the best, hands down! The sauce is good and the meat is soft. The combination fried rice is what we usually pair it with! Love this place

I used to order from this place all the time, and now I will never give them my business again. I ordered via grub hub at 6:20pm and it is now 8:13pm and I still haven’t relieved my delivery! The order is for 1 person so there isn’t much food to be delivered. And I live pretty close. I called and the lady who answered was so rude and unapologetic. Supposedly someone is on their way. My money has been taken out of my account, and very unhappy with the service. At this rate Im thinking of just refusing the food and requesting a refund. Now that its been 20 minutes since I’ve called. I called again, now the lady is telling me the driver is outside and hung up on me. BIGSURPRISE no driver. I call again and no one is picking up. Finally got ahold of a «manager», and he was very rude and blamed grub hub. Called grub hub and of course they didn’t cancel the order as the«manager» claimed. Absolutely disgusted with the service and will NEVER order from there again.

Excelsior Garden is a tiny little store front restaurant in Jefferson Park. It’s located just north of Lawrence Ave. This is the first time I have been here. They have lunch specials for $ 4.95(mainly chicken dishes) & $ 5.55(beef & shrimp dishes). These specials are enormous and enough for 2 meals I ordered the Szechwan chicken lunch special. The chicken fried rice was sort of bland and lacked any real flavor, the egg roll was not very good. My mom use to make killer egg rolls. The main dish the Szechuan chicken was decent, but nothing that got me very excited. There was chicken, broccoli, bamboo, water chestnuts, carrots, celery, mushrooms and baby corn. Isn’t Szechuan suppose to be spicy. Ehhh not at all I would be willing to come back and try some of their other lunch specials and maybe some of their other dishes because they have a pretty extensive list of lunch menu items, besides you can’t beat the value and quantity of the food. I’m thinking it’s worth trying especially for the price.

I ordered through their website on Monday afternoon and received a receipt. It’s Thursday evening and I still have not received my order. Monday was Labor Day, maybe they were closed. If that is that case, perhaps *not* accepting orders online would be advisable. Or maybe even a call or email… anything…acknowledging that they received and was unable to fulfill me order for whatever reason. I have a two year old and waiting for 90 minutes before making several unanswered calls is not a way to spend dinnertime. Thanks for that fun experience Excelsior. If there was an indication they were closed, we could have ordered from any number of other restaurants that were open that day.

This is the best Chinese food in the Jeff Park area. My favorites are the chicken wings, chicken with string beans, beef chow fun, and crab Rangoon. We have ordered here many times and the food has consistently been fantastic. The prices are pretty cheap, and the food is ready quickly. So happy we found this place!

This place is deff not for vagetarians. Just in case your vegetarian check your food cause they give you chicken and when u call and complain they talk you rudely saying I didn’t put chicken in it? Bed service would not go again…

I ordered about 30 minutes from closing which I hate doing but they were so nice and quick. Really close to my house they said 10 min I made it there before 10 minutes and they had my food ready. They were closing up and the kitchen and everything looked spot clean which I love to see when trying a new place. I got the orange chicken dinner special which comes with chicken fried rice and an egg roll, and also an order of crab Rangoon. My total was $ 12.02 which is amazingly cheap and they gave me I think 8 – 10 crab rangoons. The food was so good! I don’t have one complaint it was fresh is was hot and huge portions. The rice didn’t taste dirty or dry and same with the Orange chicken. The Orange chicken did taste/smell more orangy than other places but the chicken was so good. Definitely going to go back to try more!

Amazing place for takeout or delivery! My favorites are their fried rice, orange chicken, and kung pao beef. Delivery is always very fast, and if you order for pick up it’s ready even quicker. The lady is always very nice and friendly. One thing I appreciate is their clean kitchen that can be seen from when you pick up. My favorite Chinese takeout on this side of town.

I am now convinced that anyone who thinks this food is good, is young and/or with a VERY limited experience of what GOOD food is. Another bad chinese restaurant in our area. There are no «good» restaurants near or in Sauganash. Just another, I’ll take your money & give you bad food. First they screwed up my order-badly, As it turns out I wasn’t missing anything. The General Tao dish reeked and also tasted of breaded chicken fried in dirty oil, and it was over fried-tuff & chewy. My veg. fried rice had no veg but had beef-WITH more of the pervasive strong odor & taste of old, dirty, over used oil. The white rice was fine. The broccoli garlic was ok. Didn’t get the egg foo young-another mistake on their part. Now my entire kitchen smells of old, dirty grease. And I’ve thrown away $ 25.(include. delivery).

When a snow storm hits, order Chinese take out! My friends and I ordered from here a couple of nights ago when the snow piled up and we were too lazy to make food. Between the 5 of us we ordered, Beef and broccoli, sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, Kung Pao beef and a chicken fried rice. To be honest, we were very surprised they we’re even willing to deliver given the weather conditions. We were told it would be there in 30 – 45 minutes. The food came very quickly and the lady who delivered seemed to be very nice. It looked like we ordered a lot of food haha. Beef and broccoli — tasty and typical. Sesame chicken and Sweet and sour chicken — good crunch batter but was overly drenched in sauces. Both of the sauces were tangy and sweet. The sesame chicken sauce was darker and more soy based. Kung Pao beef — tasted very good. Nicely seasoned and not too greasy. Chicken fried rice– man I don’t know how much MSG and stuff they put in his but the fried rice was amazing. Got a free egg roll which was nice. Overall very grateful they delivered on such a miserable day and did enjoy the food. Will be ordering from them again.

This review is based solely on my experience the other afternoon, dining in during hours of their lunch special. I should add that if I started my meal eating their egg roll I would have hated the experience and the rest of my meal. It tasted«mechanical,» I wondered whether it could have been store bought or they purchase their egg rolls in bulk from a food service. Food is of, that, fresh and made to order quality. Or so, that’s what’s said and shared by their fans that may-be-dining in if you plan to stop by. That’s what was told to me by a frequent diner that opted to share far more information about his visits than I was willing to hear about. He got an order of fried chicken wings and rice. He kept eyeing my food, I guess hoping I would share some. It was odd in there. Despite that, the customer service was great. The folks that work here are welcoming and thankful for the business they get daily. During my time in there, the hostess welcomed a number of repeat customers with a warm smile and greeting. There is quite an amount of traffic that comes through here. Although the food looked good, it didn’t taste as good. Not to me anyway. I’ve already uploaded a few photos of foodporn, so enjoy. I came to check out their General Tso’s since I’d heard praise for it and read about it on Unilocal.Unfortunately, it’s taste didn’t live up to my standards. One and done.

Their fried rice is one of the best fried rice dishes I have ever tried. Get the combo with veggies or chicken. Finger licking good! Also the price difference between small and large rice dish is so small that it’s not worth getting the small. You will have leftovers. It is pretty big so it can easily feed 2 – 3 people. They have lunch specials from 11 – 3, I believe so take advantage of it for lunch! ;)

I’m updating the review for this place. The orange chicken is awesome, but the rice tasted a lot better the last time I ordered from here then the first. Egg rolls and the pineapple smoothie is delicious. Orange chicken lunch special+3 vegetable egg rolls+pineapple smoothie= about 12.50(I forgot the exact amount) lol
