Despite Emschair closing soon. I’m still writing a review.
This is the best salon I’ve been to in the Chicago area. I have thick, long asian hair and a (maybe) ridiculous obsession with changing my hair color every couple months.
The first time Emily did my hair, she dyed it to a beauuutiful chestnut brown + free hair cut with dyeing job. It was awesome. Not to mention, it was 20% off because it was my first time at the salon.
The second time I went to Emily was a few months later… I really should’ve went back more often for touchups. BUT on a whim, I decided that I wanted to get ombré done (before the trend died in a dark corner) and Emily completely WOWed me. Not only did let me schedule an appointment day of, the whole process only take 3 hours (bleach + tone + cut + styling)… and the result was WONDERFUL.
If you’re looking for an affordable ‘do but don’t want to compromise on style and color, go to Emily. She’s moving to a new location in Logan Square. Get her info and get on that Emily train right now.

I got a haircut from Emily today… Great job! I’m very pleased with the cut for sure. Also, Emily was a pleasure to talk to during the cut. Very friendly and outgoing, we really enjoyed our time there and will return next time! Thanks!

Okay so I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt like Emily definitely deserves one!
I’m terrified of getting my hair cut because I have had many bad haircuts before. But it was getting to a point where my hair was way too long and just tangly. So I ventured out to find someone in Chicago who might be able to give me what I want. I was a walk in and she was able to help me right away. We discussed what I was going for and I showed her a couple photos of things I liked, and then we proceeded.
I love that she listened, was able to execute what I was going for — and while she was cutting my hair we chatted about how I have never really been able to figure out how to style it and make it wavy the way I always wish my hair was. And she took the time to teach me and style my hair for FREE!
Definitely my best hair salon experience in years.

This place is amazing I love it! Very professional and very cozy, best service I’ve ever gotten. She has great tips and advice on how to take care of your hair and other beauty tips too. In her salon she carries Unite products, these products have been a gift from heaven to my hair, few of my favorites are Unite Lazer Straight (great for frizzy hair) Unite 7 Seconds Condition and G0 365 Hairspray. All these products smell amazing.
Emily makes you feel beautiful in the inside and outside, go check her out!

Love this place! It is cozy, warm and welcoming. I get my hair done by Emily and she is wonderful! She is open to whatever, but listens to what you actually want and will do it. I’ve had cuts and color done by her and have been happy every time. Plus her prices are super reasonable! Nothing snotty and overpriced!

Excellent and Professional service! I always go to Emschair for a haircut and color it and I just LOVE it.

First off let me say that I am extremely picky with who I let manage my hair, lol. So picky. that I had avoided going to the salon for about 5 years. Until one day God sent me the hair stylist from heaven! I was in need of taming my mane badly. So I decided to take a risk and made my appointment with Emily, and I am extremely happy that I did! She listens to exactly what you want, and also offers some reccomendations for what would work out in your best interest. I got my hair layered, trimmed and dyed by Emily. The UNITE products sold at her salon smell absolutely amazing. My hair was left gorgeous and I will definitely be visiting again soon.
Not only are Emily’s skills amazing, but the staff were incredibly nice as well. The salon itself is adorable and has such a cozy and welcoming feel that you won’t ever want to leave. Don’t hesitate to give EmsChair a visit!

This has to be the best salon I’ve been to in the Chicago area, they’ve got the sweetest and most professional staff, the place is clean and comfortable. They’ve got WiFi too, hehe. It adds a lot to Wicker Park, check it out!
