Dee’s… you have so much to offer many diners not see. Your Mongolian beef has set a new standard and your dining experience is on another level. Outdoor seating with great drinks and hot towels during the meal… I’m a huge fan. This was definitely a treat. NOTE: Never went for the sushi. 4 stars because Dees is a bit pricey; I did not feel like this was a practically priced takeout option

Dee! You gave me my most favorite meal during a recent trip to Chi city. Everyone was beyond nice from the hostess to our server and it created the most joyful time! After ordering 2 rolls all to myself. I decided to needed to slow my roll and not order an appetizer. But, when I saw the hot and sour soup come out for some of my friends, my eyes got real wide and they asked me if I wanted to try a bite… Nope. I’ll get my own. And I slurped it down. Fellow Unilocal friends, this is was the best hot and sour soup I’ve ever in my life. The consistency was perfect and the spice was just enough to make me want to drink my beer a little quicker… which made for a better night all around. My favorite roll ordered was the Mexican Roll. With tuna, cilantro, cucumber, avocado, jalapeño, masago, spicy mayo, and lime it was a unique(and quite filling) experience. Nobody(not event myself) better never ever tell me to slow my roll at Dee’s.

Dee is my favorite person in the world and I met her 1 hour ago and I love her. Waiting for a table is a pleasure. Gorgeous staff. This is my first and only Unilocal review, cannot say better things about the environment here. Highly recommend!

I have to provide an update for Dee’s because they deserve it! My husband and I order delivery from here frequently now. The girl who answers the phone is SUPER nice, I keep forgetting to get her name! But when we order sushi, she always notes that my man has a serious shellfish allergy and it is all over the order ticket and receipt– can never be to careful — thank you for that! Big fan of the Mexican roll. Get it. The Sesame Chicken is SOGOOD. Get that, too.

There was a time when everything at Dee’s was great. Well, I am hoping that my take out Sunday was off because the head cook decided to take Sunday night off. The egg drop soup was tasteless. The sliced beef with veggies had very stringy beef. Not a good quality. Both that dish and the chicken dish had veggies that were extremely over cooked. I’m used to fresh flash stir fry where the veggies are still brightly colored. These were way overlooked. And the taste of both dishes just wasn’t the same. Dee needs to get back in the kitchen.

Dismal excuse for Chinese food! This used to be a solid place many years ago. Tonight I was in the neighborhood and stopped in. I ordered Beef Chow Fun in Black Bean Sauce. What I got was inedible: mushy noodles with strips of stringy beef that had no black beans, and almost no flavor other than oil and cornstarch. Just awful. The waitress noticed I stopped eating, so I fessed up and told her the chow fun was bad. I ended up with a dish that I thought would be hard to ruin, which was Moo Shu Pork. Slightly better, but still awful. Pancakes were dry, crumbly, and old. There was very little pork in the dish, and the pieces were chewy and small. Another bland failure. So, upscale dining room, upscale prices, and bland, crappy food.

Dees is very nice inside and they have good food. A little over priced, but expected for Lincoln Park. I did really like their sushi!

I used to come here a lot and the food is always good. I wouldn’t say that the sashimi was the best I ever had, but it was still very good. ESPECIALLY, the Chinese food — JUSTWONDERFUL ! Like, the perfect amount of greasiness and the perfect amount of saltiness~~!! The owner is super sweet and the staff is also really great. I’m just sad that I won’t be able to come to this restaurant as often as I used to as I recently moved.

Dees how I’m missed you! I moved out of the LP area so its not easy to get to — I happened to be running errands today and called for pick up — people couldn’t have been nicer and the food is better than I remember — just got boiled pork potstickers and szechuan chicken — theszechuan is by far the best. I have to make more of an attempt to make it over here — it is worth the drive.

A friend once asked what my last meal would be after the avian flu goes airborne and the impending zombie apocalypse begins. My answer was immediate and unwavering: DEE’S. ONEOFEACH. Dee’s is my favorite restaurant in Chicago. Nay, the world. Their hot and sour soup, pot stickers, eggrolls, Mongolian beef, and Sesame chicken are indescribable. Seriously. It’s that good. Some of my earliest childhood memories are with Dee and my extended family eating in the solarium. Dee’s was incredible nearly two decades ago and it still is today. 5⁄5. 1,000,000/1,000,000. Try for yourself!!!

Dee’s is such a wonderful place! I’m more than certain I’ve been eating here for 15+ years, and every time is just as great as before. From the welcoming staff, to the amazing Dee herself, everything about this place feels like home! I love the small band that plays(baby grand/double bass for the win!) and I’m in LOVE with their outdoor patio! The patio is so beautiful, I wish I could escape there more often. Food is always fresh and consistently amazing. From the egg rolls, to the Mongolian Beef, Dee’s hits it every time. Do yourself a favor and find this hidden gem in Lincoln Park. You just might like it :) P. S.DON’T FORGETTHECRABRANGOON!!! :D :D :D

This restaurant is as good as it was 28 years ago! Very good Chinese restaurant. I had Mooshu chicken, it was the best ever. Our waitress Grace prepared each of my pancakes. The egg rolls were very fresh and cooked to perfection. The quality is fantastic!

Although I’m not Chinese or sushi food aficionado, I think the quality of the food is excellent, the service is impeccable. I love the fact that you can also taste well done sushi without having to go to a sushi place. Love the location

Ben Pao was our go to Chinese restaurant for years before they closed and have kind of stayed away from this type of cuisine sense. My wife recently visited Dee’s with some friends, insisted we give it a shot so we headed over earlier this week. Food is pretty solid. Started with the beef/asparagus rolls and some poke — both of which were great. Around the table we ordered orange chicken, sesame chicken, general tso chicken and tofu. Everything was really good — flavors of the general tso were probably my favorite. Only complaint is that the AC happen to break down and it was probably mid 80s outside when we were there, but that’s a fixable problem which they apologized for. It’s a little bit of a hike to get here from our neighborhood but would definitely go back again.

Our first experience at Dee’s was good. We didn’t order too many things — and actually one of the people we were with wasn’t a vegetarian like the rest of us, so the sharing options were limited. First I was kind of shocked that we went here on a Friday night and the place was quite empty. Usually that’s a cause for concern. At that point we were already there, so we just decided to stay. I hate to generalize, but like most Asian restaurants, the service was spotty. In fact, at first, the waitress was just plain rude. I’m given Dee’s the benefit of the doubt, because around half-way through, maybe her mood changed or what not, but she started behaving decently. The points Dee’s gets is for the food. We started with spring rolls — they were good. So the eggplant was great. Definitely our favorite entrée. The chow mein noodles were just OK. I think they put the noodles themselves under the veggies and sauce and they came out already soggy. Overall great food. Next time we go, I’d want to try some additional veggie entrees. Looking forward to it.

Ordered $ 75worth of delivery and cringed when I looked at the price. I will never do that again. I mean, wow! There is something about Dee. Her staff encompasses her attitude towards good food and friendly service. If you haven’t been in and met her I urge you to do it, good vibes. I ordered the wrong soup(sweet and sour) and wanted to change to egg drop, called and didn’t even have to tell her my order, she knew exactly what order to change. The Mongolian beef is amazing but be careful if you order extra spicy, so good but not in the morning. Egg rolls are hand made and PLEASE try the spicy mustard, WILL make you cry. Steamed dumplings are better the next day. Only complaint is that the fortune cookies have the worst fortunes. My wife’s fortune said«a new pair of shoes will do a world of difference», she broke her leg last Thursday and can only wear one shoe right now, jerks! Try the back patio in the summer. Relaxing and Feng shuied.

I really liked Dee’s. We stopped by for dinner on a Saturday night recently after another nearby option was too packed. I’ve never paid much attention to this place after walking by it numerous times over the years, but I was pleasantly surprised! The interior was upscale yet casual and warm. We were seated immediately at a front circular booth overlooking the bar, sushi bar, and the upstairs dining room. It was cozy and our booth was complete with a few patterned pillows for our dining comfort. We started with some hot wonton soup and split several rolls as our entrees. Everything tasted really fresh and delicious. Portions were generous, and the sushi was the best I’ve had in a while. Our waitress was very friendly though somewhat delayed at times, but overall, we really enjoyed our dinner and basically everything else at Dee’s. I’d definitely return.

Everything I’ve had here is great /sushi and Chinese! Spider roll is great, Kung pao chicken is the perfect amount of spice. Crab Rangoon is the best I’ve ever had. Dee herself is so friendly and always welcomes you with a warm smile!

I lived in Lincoln Park for 8 years and never went to Dee’s. I passed by a million times but never made it in. As it turns out, that was a big mistake, I missed out on a great place close to home. One rainy night, we had reservations for an activity close by but wanted to grab a bite to eat first. After navigating traffic and the rain, we only had 30 minutes to spare. Dee’s was right there but I was skeptical that we could be in and out in such a short time. We got in and seated right away in a cute booth by the window. The atmosphere is great, kind of like those fancy Chinese restaurants your parents took you to when you were a kid. When the friendly server came over, I let her know right away that we were in a hurry. Even though my request to be in and out in 30 minutes was completely unreasonable, our server made it her mission to make it happen. And didn’t seem the least bit bothered by it. While we were waiting, we couldn’t help but notice that the friendly woman greeting people at the door, who we figured had to be Dee, knew almost every party that came in. She had a short conversation with most of them and they all seemed to be happy to see each other. Seeing so many regulars is another sign that I missed out. As promised, our food came out in 15 minutes. I couldn’t believe it. Our biggest problem at that point was trying to scarf all of our tasty food down in the remaining time. We ordered the shrimp with mushrooms, pea pods and water chestnuts and the beef with basil to share. Along with some egg rolls, of course. The food was delicious and, even though they were generous portions, we almost polished it all off. We managed to save a little for lunch the next day, though. We came for Chinese food this time around but there is also a wide selection of sushi. With all of the great options, and such friendly service, I can’t help but make it back for another round. All is not lost, I only moved to another neighborhood. Now I’ll have an excuse to visit my old place!

I ordered Kung Pao chicken; Mongolian beef; Szechwan shrimp and fries rice. $ 60 total. The food was packaged well as I was taking it home. The fried rice was quite good with extremely small pieces of beef which were indistinguishable from vegetables. The chicken was bland but tender and no taste at all. The shrimp were simmered in a soy sauce base and also not much of a taste. I read of the rave reviews of Mongolian beef but my feedback is that while the meat was of quality-it had a breaded texture and void of the usual Chinese seasonings. I have had much better Chinese at half the price from Papa Jinn on North&Milwaukee and Jia’s on Halstead.

I ordered this place for delivery through Grubhub. In the delivery notes, I typed out instructions, with what words are on the door to my office, for easy delivery. When the guy gets here, he calls me and just yells into the phone. Anything I try to say, he responds with a question, asking me if I’ve placed an order for delivery. Just very loud talking. I have dogs in the office, they are now barking cause they can hear this guy over the phone. The dogs are barking, he’s hollering into the phone nonsensically, it becomes very clear that no actual communication was going to happen here… so I just hang up and go to the door to open it and look for him. He is not there. I call him back. again, more yelling. And then I see him about a block away, almost getting back into his car! He sees the door I am at and decides to come back. Like I said, he was a block away and I am at work, so I go back to my desk to wait for him to come back. When he gets to the door, he tries to just rip it open. I have dogs in here! This door goes straight to Ashland, a pretty busy street. I am the only one in this office at that moment. Even if I could leave that door unlocked, i never ever, ever would! What if this was my home? Does he expect to just swing doors open at people’s homes too? Anyway, he tries to open the door. It’s locked. The dogs start barking again. Now, I know you can hear these dogs from outside that door. He saw me at this door, from a block away, 2 mins ago. I feel it’s quite obvious that I am in here, at this point. But by the time I make it to the door to open it for him, the guy is gone again already. A lady who’s standing outside on the phone, tells me he just went into the building through another entrance. He calls me again. Yells into the phone about the address. Then he hangs up on me and I guess starts to leave again! Cause I only managed to get my food because I happened to go outside and see him leave the building and head the direction of his car again. I had to just yell at him to come back. I will admit that this building can be a little confusing. But we have ordered delivery a lot here, at least once a week, and I have never had such an insanely awful experience getting my food. I don’t even care what the food was like, I will not order from this place again. I wish I could take my tip back, I paid it on Grubhub when placing the order. the«crispy» spring rolls were not at all crispy.

This place is great. I have been here several times now and every time it is a treat. The first time we came here, there was a snow storm. Once we were seated the waitress pulled a heater next to our booth to warm us up. I love how they always start with giving you a warm towelette to wash your hands and the staff is always amazing and friendly. My favorite dish is their veggie stir fry noodles. For a noodle dish, the ingrediants are so fresh and even though it is mixed with a sauce it is amazing how light they keep it.

One money hungry waiter ruined my birthday outing. Won’t be back! I came here yesterday for my 22nd birthday. I was really impressed with their décor and layout. When me and my small group arrived I didn’t feel out of place like I didn’t belong. The restaurant looks a bit upscale but the attire says casual and although no one else in the restaurant was wearing casual attire like my group(jeans, and gym shoes) we still felt comfortable. The staff were so welcoming and attentive. The food was… ok, just okay(not much of a taste) but still I was having a decent time UNTIL… our waiter decided to overstep his boundaries. Me and my group tip fairly everywhere we go. When our waiter brought us the check and we gave him the correct amount of money he came back to the table confused and forced us to give him a large tip by making a scene as if we didn’t pay the correct amount. We were planning to tip him $ 5.75 once he brought us back the change, but he assumed(more like stereotyped) that we wouldn’t and didn’t leave the table until he got much more out of us. We were prepared to give a decent tip and didn’t need the pressure he was putting on us or the humiliation. He haggled $ 10.75 out of us and one of the $ 5 we gave him we wanted change for but he just ran off and didn’t come back. What kind of business are they running where the staff can just rob people or negotiate their own tip??? Where is the class and professionalism? I reported this and was told he got a «talking to» I’m not sure what good that did though.
