A decent burger that felt slightly over priced. I ordered the Sunday burger with blue cheese. It came out of the kitchen so hot I couldn’t pick it up. Once it cooled down I was able to enjoy it. The fries were delicious.

Good friendly service. Speedy fulfillment of my order. The food is always pretty good. It’s not gourmet dining, sometimes it’s a little over cooked, but they take the time to create a good menu and order good food. Their custom cocktails are tasty, the service is always attentive. The atmosphere is great. And the bar is clean. Go here for drinks with some food and you’ll be satisfied.

My rating has gone down. They used to have daily specials, which was one item from the menu each day at a reduced price. They don’t have those anymore. They just eliminated them. I found out on my last visit they also eliminated my favorite Portobello Sandwich, and the side of mashed potatoes, which I always ordered in the winter. The Mgr is inaccessible and not friendly, even to regular customers. I’m having trouble justifying going back, even after having gone there for over 12 years.

Solid place to go for bar food, especially in the summer when you can sit in their outdoor patio area. I am a big fan of the wraps, but order them without lettuce to avoid warm soggy lettuce. Also, the TOTS. Can’t go wrong with tots.

The food is alright, mostly what you would expect from a sports bar, but the service is what takes this place up a notch. Tim is great behind the bar and definitely goes above and beyond, if you get the chance to belly up, do it

I am a bit older so I am picky. I ordered a spicy Bloody Mary with splash of Jack Daniels. Answer: I will have to charge you for a shot of Jack Daniels. OK just give me a regular spicy Bloody Mary then(one star off since most places do it without a complain). After a while… would you like another one? yes please.. It arrived but was not spicy(another star off). Not impressed!

I highly recommend this neighborhood bar. The atmosphere and the drinks are always great. The food is good and better than most neighborhood bars. I have been here often and I haven’t ever had a bad meal or a bad drink. The staff is nice and I love the feel of the place.

Really casual vibe and a dog friendly patio. The staff is always pleasant and they surprise me with their fantastic soup selection that changes daily. Nothing super special about their mixed drink menu but who cares? The steak sandwich is great and their starches(French fries, tatter tots, etc) are always the right amount of crisp.

So this started out as somewhere we popped into just based on location — it’s right by Sulzer library and Davis Theatre, two places we tend to visit a lot, usually on weekend afternoons, and it happened to be nearby. We appreciated the fact that we could choose indoor or outdoor seating, and my husband could get tater tots, which is always a serious factor in choosing our lunch selections. Lately though, we’ve noticed that it’s become part of our afternoon plan and I have figured out that it’s because the food is just that good. I have had just about every salad on the menu and enjoyed each one — the lettuce is crisp, the veggies are aplenty, and the chicken doesn’t have that weird, fake, rubbery chicken texture with weird bits.(You all know what I mean). My husband swears by the sloppy joe with(wait for it) tater tots. The only downfall of this place is the pricing. Their salads range from $ 10 – 12, which is a couple dollars too high for me. By the time you throw in a beer or even a coke, lunch for two usually runs around $ 35 – 40, whereas I like to keep it under $ 30.

I want to like this place but, I just can’t based on their grilled chicken sandwich. I just paid $ 15 for a split chicken breast; a slice of tomato that is 30% stem; i piece of wilted lettuce, red onion and a mediocre white bread-bun. And oh yes. I paid an extra $ 2(untold to me when I asked for the substitution) to have tater tots instead of fries. Perhaps other items are worth the visit, I can’t say but I will say that I am not inclined to spend the money to find out.

A friend and I accidentally stumbled upon this place because the restaurant we wanted wasn’t open yet. The service was 3.5 stars. The nachos are amazing! But when I got my entrée(steak tacos) the meat was cold. There wasn’t any real flavor. The tater tots were great but that’s something you can’t get wrong, you just fry them.

I was here a few weeks ago. The beer garden is fantastic and probably the most attractive feature of the bar. Plenty of seating and good shade go well with a summer afternoon with drinks in hand. I must say the french fries and tater tots were disappointing. Volume yes but quality not so much. So, one probably won’t see me here when the weather gets cooler. Unless, of course, they install a fire pit.

Yum! I’ve been here numerous times yet I can’t tell you much about their menu due to pretty early in the game trying their steak sandwich and loving it so much I just stick with that any time I go there. Their tots are nice and crispy and the watermelon soup is just what you need on a hot Chicago day. I’m pretty happy with their drink selection as well. Major plus for having a dog friendly patio.

There are a few things that keep me coming back to the Daily. The primary reason is their martinis. They have a great selection of martinis and so far, all the ones I have tried have been delicious. My husband really likes the chocolate mint. I personally really like the Mocha. I’ve never had the food here, but my husband has and he said that it’s pretty standard bar food. The Daily also has a good number of TVs, so it’s good for watching sporting events. It’s got a great location– right in the middle of Lincoln Square. The Daily is good place to go before catching a movie over at Davis Theater. Overall, I go for the location, but I keep coming back for those delicious martinis!

The short: Horrible service from our waitress. She was slow, forgetful, inattentive, and just generally unaware. Almost everything took an incredibly long time to arrive and when our food finally did come, two of our four meals, and everyone’s fries, were somewhere between cold and luke warm. The manager came by our table finally to ask why we weren’t satisfied and when we told him he took on a rude and defensive demeanor, simply saying they were understaffed and crazy busy. In the end we were given a discount on our bill and were entertained hearing people at the nearby tables also talking about what a terrible experience they were having. The long: What made our waitress so horrible? A few examples. We ordered our drinks, and me being about-to-pop-pregnant I just asked for some lemon to make my ice water more exciting since I can’t enjoy alcoholic beverages. 20 minutes and 3 reminders later, I had my lemon. But no water. We ordered appetizers at that time which, in all fairness, were delicious. But over the course of another 20 or so minutes our waitress never came anywhere in the vicinity of our table. We finally got her attention and ordered dinner and another round of drinks. Beer came out fairly quick, but one mixed drink took about 15 minutes and again, a reminder. The food probably took 30 – 40 minutes to arrive, which really wouldn’t have been a big deal except that two meals and everyone’s side order of French fries were literally cold. At this point, again having not even seen our waitress for about 20 minutes, we asked the kitchen staff who delivered our food if we could have fresh French fries that were not cold and hard. They walked away without a word and soon the manager appeared, asking if there was a problem. We told him that our food was cold and that our waitress was, for the most part, absent. He was very insincere in his apology to us, simply saying that they were understaffed and crazy busy and could we please have some patience. His rude and uncaring demeanor made it pretty clear why this place was as awful as it was. To top off our wonderful experience, after not having seen our waitress through all of this for probably 45 minutes, she came by as we were finishing our food and awkwardly asked us, «Um, is there anything, like, bothering you guys?» So in the end — yes, we were given a discount on our bill. Yes, it was a busy Saturday night, the first beautiful weather night of the season. But we were not in any way expecting anything other than a casual and relaxed experience. We’ve all been to other restaurants that have been busy and slow. What makes for a good customer experience even in those scenarios, however, is a friendly server/manager who comes around and right up front explains the situation and follows it up with a concerted effort to check in, or at least be in the general vicinity, more than once every 20 minutes, and then doesn’t treat you like you are the problem when your food is delivered cold. If that is an unreasonable expectation for your customers to have, who are paying you for a service, then why are you even in business?

What an awful place. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt after experiencing some very spotty service at the beginning. Our waitress was very inconsistent, bringing out beers within a few minutes, but taking over 15 minutes to bring one party member a mixed drink. Multiple times our waitress also would walk past our table without checking in despite us trying to get her attention. Then the food came out. Most of it was cold, including everyone’s fries and my burger. I’m not talking luke-warm, but cold to the point where the fries took on that gritty texture. When we asked to speak to a manager he was defensive and dismissive to our concerns. He made it seem as if we were bothering him by wanting at least a half decent dinner. I am generally not one to complain about service or even bad food, but this was probably the worst dining experience I’ve had over the past 2 years. In addition, the disdain the manager expressed towards the diners was disgraceful.

Great service. Walking out I said«that guy is an awesome barkeep». He was so warm and friendly, and had perfect timing every time we needed something. When we sat at a booth a couple nights later for a late meal, our server was equally friendly, helpful and easygoing. The food is as good as any casual pub food I can recall. I went back to eat here twice while I stayed in the neighborhood. I really enjoyed the grilled cheese with tomato and mustard. Artichoke dip was very good as well. Big place so finding a booth was no problem at all even on a weekend night. Obviously there are bigger crowds if there is some kind of game on.

Yeah, I gotta update. The overly sardonic bartender is gone, and in his place is Tim, who may be the world’s best bartender. First of all, we were warmly greeted immediately. We proceeded to chat with Tim throughout our visit, about music and whatnot, and it was a blast. The martinis here are still perfectly made. Just great. The food. I went back to what I always came here for, the meatloaf. And it did not disappoint, once again. Two slabs of juicy meatloaf — this entrée would really be enough for two to share, because it is a lotta food. Creamy, buttery mashed potatoes with gravy and some sauteed vegetables. Just great. And around $ 13? Reasonably priced! My burger-loving companion had the Sunday Special burger, I believe it was called, and it was something special. Giant, juicy, delicious. .. I had a bit, and it really was incredible. Perfectly done, large, but not immense. Our entire bill, with tip(two cocktails, two entrees) was $ 50! The place rules! I stayed away for awhile, but I’m glad this place waited for me to come back. ‘Cos I’ll be back.

I really enjoyed my visit to the Daily Bar and Grill. The food was great. They have amazing specials. $ 7 salad on a Tuesday, who can beat that? The salad was very fresh too. I enjoyed it. The sandwiches are also tasty. They also have a really nice outdoor patio. I’ll definitely be back. The service is a little lack luster, but the good food and specials balances that out.
