If there was a negative star option this place would get it. I’m simply appalled at the shockingly bad hair cut I received matched by the equally bad if not worse business conduct by the bloke who cut my hair. I was facing away from the mirror while my hair was getting cut. When my girlfriend saw it after it was cut and the product had wore off she absconded my terrible haircut and pointed out how the back was was completely uneven, the top looked like a mini bowl cut that an alligator had ripped chunks out, and there was a random shaved spot in the front. When I went back to show them the terrible work and try to get my money back the man named Dana who cut my hair immediately started yelling on the defense saying I was full of shit and needed a beating. All while I was trying to show him how terrible his job was. He kept cursing and wanting to fight me until his fellow barber told him to calm down and held him back telling him there was a child in front of me. If this is how they do business I’m pretty sure there is another business that is probably not legal that is keeping their door open to the unsuspecting public. Enter at your own risk!

This place gets no stars. The level of service is absolutely ridiculous. Ive been going to the shop off and on for about a year. Everybody there would talk about how bad the owner was with her clients… bouncing payroll checks and beyond. Well I finally got a run in with this miserable old lady… and I use lady lightly. I parked in there parking lot only because there were no parks on the street and mind you it says parking for d’jons. The owner wasn’t there it was almost 6pm and there shop closes at 630. So I guess she came right b4 they closed and she parked next to my car and it was so dam tight I couldn’t understand why anyone but a fool would squeeze in and risk damaging someone’s car yet alone her old BMW truck. So as I went to get my car I couldn’t get out so I went in and politely ask her to move her car. She came out and wants to give a lecture about parking. I’m like maam I got things to do could you please just move your car. She declined and went back in her shop. Keep in mind I’m a client that just got my hair cut at your shop. It’s not like her business is overflowing. She could of easily came in and asked me to move my car or hey… just not park there out of courtesy for your client. I had to call the POLICE… They had her move my car. She told me not to park there again… I’m like… huh…I’m not coming to this place again in life. I would not recommend anyone to support this business. It’s sad that a older woman would conduct herself in such a manner. It’s a bad representation for a black barbershop. There are many black barbershop that are really good so look for another one

The level of loyalty a man has to his barber is very high, so it took a lot for my boyfriend to part with his barber in Hyde Park. The commute wasn’t so much the issue as the super long wait times once he got there. Taking a chance on a shop around the corner, he ventured into D Jon’s on a Tuesday and had his hair cut by Eric. There was no wait time, which might be a great option for those looking to get in and out during the week. They even offer online booking for busy individuals. He paid about $ 30 for a hair cut and a straight razor shave and was very happy with the service. He’s been going for the past few weeks and has nothing negative to say. I would recommend anyone looking for a good cut to ask for Eric. Barbers are not created equally, so this review is strictly regarding the service Eric provided. I think the exterior could use some work. I’m not much of a fan for the outdated pictures in the window, but then again I’m not getting my hair done here lol. I’m glad to see a barbershop in the South Loop. Hope they continue to grow.

Let’s just say that I got a cut from here, but had to fix it when I got home.

D Jon’s is a very cool and relaxing place to get a haircut. Hands down the best shop I’ve been to in years.

It hurts to write this review but FAIR is FAIR. Moved to Chicago from Brooklyn and I was looking for a barbershop that could cut African American hair downtown, as I live in the South Loop. I walked by D’Jon a couple times but was skeptical so I traveled down to the south side for haircuts. I finally went to D’Jon and got my haircut from Al. He did a decent job so I decided to go with D’jon over the south side out of pure convenience. I purchased buy 4 cuts and get the fifth one free package through the Shop. Called for an appointment and they said Al no longer worked there and gave me non working number. I spoke with the owner, Diane, several times about receiving a refund and she keeps telling me I have to deal with Al. HOWCAN I DOTHATIFYOUDONOTPROVIDEANYCONTACTINFOTOREACHHIM? Also, I paid the shop D’jon not Al. It truly hurts me when I cannot support local and minority business… Back to the Southside — FLAWLESS Barbershop — Steve.
